That can also be done without resorting to corporal punishment.
So God was not too bright in clearly saying it was needed and a requirement of loving parents, got it.
That's what I'm saying. We can at least try non-violent punishments first before resorting to spanking the child
I agree. Different kids are going to respond to different punishments.
That depends on the crime. If clear warnings were given and a child crosses that line, the the search for clever
lock the kid in a room to get them out of out hair should not proceed
What's so insane about that?
Well, what seems better, a little tap to correct a bad thing that could be dangerous to the child or harmful, or boring lectures and jail time in a locked room? Some people drag things out when it could be long over and forgotten and all move on to loving and fun things. If I were a child and some adult tried to lock me in a room, or droned on with new age style sickening lectures, I would lose respect to say the least. Forever.
No doubt. Heaps also molly coddle so called gender confusion and etc as well. So?
I'd rather try that than going straight to the rod.
I would rather do what God says and focus on loving chastening that teaches something real and have some respect. (rather than teach a child that the silly bible was passe and wrong and how I am so much more clever than God etc.
Society does it to criminals and most of them learn their lesson.
Children are not criminals and parents are not society.
Lock them up for a while, no TV, toys or any entertainment.
Food and water? Restraints? Mind torture and such?
That will make them think about their actions.
It will make them think about YOUR actions actually. And throw up (so to speak)
If their old enough make them write "I will not do blah blah blah again" 500 times.
A real good use of a day. Better to simply do what you said would happen if they did something pretty bad and get it over with almost instantly and lovingly forgive and more on. Not torture them for extended periods and nag and prove yourself to be weird.
