I believe that God is Magnanimous in the long run. But I got to say, I have a big problem with people, especially Calvinists and people that are strong ultra Augustinians on issues of theodicy. Here is something that really bothers me, to the point of needing to actually write about it. You got some one online who has had tough times, trail of faiths, than you got some kind of Original Sin thumping Calvinist that basically in so many words basically says "You got not right to complain" and then in some ways talks about Original Sin and how the person has failed at being perfect and God demands it etc., etc.
This kind of bothers me and is so over the top, that it kind of really does eventually give the God of the Bible, a real Gnostic Demiurge vibe. It is kind of like my old dead uncles favorite version of the Golden Rule, "The One with the Gold makes the Rules" except replace Gold with Power. Anyway, this type of concept I think does Christianity a disservice. It can be a little like Eliphaz in the book of Job, giving Cold Comfort, or worse fault finding etc. I also think that it kind of a Misanthropic Theology. Those folks so emphasize Original Sin that it would basically make me wonder why God gave his Only Begotten Son for humanity in the first place. Because to me the picture I get from how they talk it would be like a human father giving his only son on behalf of saving this giant colony of flies and maggots living on a putrid garbage and feces dump. Basically, it makes me want to question God intelligence or sanity, more than marvel at his great love. And that I think is the real problem with it, in getting stuck fighting Pelagianism you get into all these extremist positions where messages about God's Creation Being Created Good and How God Created everything out of love, with a noble purpose gets lost.
