Cold love does not happen in one moment. It grows slowly when truth is no longer guarded and lived.

He said “This people honoreth me with their lips; But their heart is far from me.” (Matthew 15:8 ASV)
A person can still speak His name, still hear His words, and still be around truth, but the heart can drift away.
That is why Jesus connects love and obedience a word that many reject today.
He said “If ye love me, ye will keep my commandments.” (John 14:15 ASV)
And “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me.” (John 14:21 ASV)
And “If a man keep my word, he shall never see death.” (John 8:51 ASV)
Jesus is not speaking to burden people. He is showing what real relationship looks like. Love listens. Love follows. Love stays.
Jesus also shows that following Him is not a one-time moment, but a daily walk.
He said “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” (Luke 9:23 ASV)
And “He that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved.” (Matthew 24:13 ASV)
So the life of a disciple is continuing, not stopping early.

He said “Whosoever he be of you that renounceth not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.” (Luke 14:33 ASV)
This shows that following Him is serious, not casual. it means putting Christ first.
