Hello fellow members,
If you are so inclined, please pray for my little dog. She had a surgical procedure on Friday. She has not been right since then. She has been throwing up and has terrible diarrhea. She is very lethargic and is breaking my heart, she is usually much more animated and active. I will be taking her to the vet again in a few minutes. It would be so appreciated if you would say a little prayer for her.
Thank you!

Thank you both! She was given an injection for her nausea and vomiting. Also antibiotics. And two cans of special food, pro-biotics and had another blood panel. Th bloodwork looks good and we will see how it goes.

It's a good idea to keep her on probiotics after she is done her antibiotics for a month or so. Taking them while taking antibiotics isn't very helpful.

Right the antibiotics will kill the probiotics.
I can confirm that.

There was the time I left a tube of Neosporin (an antibiotic cream) on the bathroom counter, and K-Mutt got up there and ate it. I had to catch a plane for a business trip that morning and thus missed seeing (and smelling) the, ugh, consequences. The vet explained to The Sweet Lady how important the "good bacteria" is to digestive health, and Neosporin is indiscriminate in what it kills.

So, when Cerberus picked up some giardia (and then later some hookworm) earlier this year, probiotics were part of the recovery regimen.

Hi PS!
Well regardless, she refused to eat anything (they gave me pro-biotics to sprinkle on her food) Maybe it's a good thing she refuses to take the antibiotic in this case. I don't understand how she has not lost any weight when she has eaten next to nothing for 5 days. She was always quite a foodie but, she will eat nothing :(
Thank God for Resolve carpet cleaner!

Thank you!

Thank you Rita, so do I, I can't leave the house because she will not be able to help herself and will have diarrhea, so I have to be here to let her outside.

Ok I didn't see you mention that she wont eat or take her meds. I'm curious as to why they gave her antibiotics in the first place. Has an infection been diagnosed?
Was she given antibiotics prior to or during surgery? if so- she could be reacting to that.
If you can get probiotics in liquid form for dogs or even if you can get a pill down her throat- that may be what she needs. Her digestion and gut are messed up. If she was fine before surgery- then something changed her gut.
Antibiotics mess with us in many ways- some are hard to even imagine!
just my 02 - probiotics- certainly can't hurt her.
