2 John 1:1-3, walk in truth, don’t follow every new idea, because deception isn’t always obvious, it doesn’t come with a warning label, instead it looks good, it sounds good, it even feels right, but beneath the surface, it is leading people away from God. We live in a time where truth is no longer truth, where the world tells us that right and wrong are just personal opinions and love means accepting everything, even at the cost of compromising God’s word. But what happens when truth becomes flexible, when deception disguises itself as enlightenment, confusion takes over, false teachers rise and people are led astray without even realizing it, people twisting the gospel, distorting Jesus’ message, truth is not flexible, it is absolute. Love is not just emotion, it is obedience to God, deception will always look appealing, but it leads to destruction, because truth and love are inseparable.

The most dangerous messages in the church today don’t sound evil, they sound almost right, not outright lies, but phrases wrapped in light, dipped in scripture, sprinkled with sincerity, that’s how deception works. 2 Corinthians 11:14, Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light, because the most destructive doctrines today aren’t from angry atheists, they’re from well meaning believers quoting Jesus out of context. “God just wants me to be happy.” Or, “If I have enough faith, nothing bad will happen to me.” Yet, beneath these polished sayings, lies a terrifying truth, they sound holy, but these sayings promise the comfort of Christ, they offer resurrection without repentance. Polished sayings sell purpose, but not surrender and before you know it, the Jesus you’re following looks more like a life coach, than the lamb of God.

1 John 4:1, test the spirit behind what polished sayings are repeating, this isn’t paranoia, it’s protection, it’s the Holy Spirit whispering, know my voice, don’t fall for a counterfeit. Think about it, Eve didn’t fall for a lie that sounded absurd, she fell for a twisted truth, did God really say, that’s the oldest trick in the book. Question the word, bend the truth, sell rebellion wrapped in relevance and it’s still happening. Satan will get you to redefine Jesus slowly, softly, strategically, until Jesus is just a mascot for your feelings, don’t be lulled to sleep by a message that soothes. Jesus is a person, he doesn’t need a rebrand, many people believe that God’s highest calling is happiness, if it brings peace to me, it must be the will of God, but what if the peace you feel is simply the absence of challenge, the confirmation isn’t the confirmation people think it is.

Happiness is never the ultimate goal in scripture, holiness is, faithfulness is, obedience is and sometimes the road to those things is paved with pain, Luke 9:23, not take up their dreams, not take up their comfort, take up their cross. A cross meant suffering, a cross meant dying, a cross meant choosing a path that went against everything your flesh craved. Our souls are not healed through comfort, they’re refined through fire, comfort never changed anyone, but the cross, it changes everything. A different gospel, it tells you that your breakthrough is always around the corner, your best life is now and any discomfort must be an attack from the enemy, not a pruning from the father.

In today’s world, we are constantly told that love and truth can exist apart from each other, that love means accepting anything and everything and that truth is whatever we want it to be. 2 John 1:1 tells us something very different, John opens his letter, to the chosen lady and her children whom I love in the truth. Love is rooted in truth, you cannot separate the two and yet this is exactly what so many try to do. If you love me, you’ll support my choices, our culture has redefined love to mean unconditional approval and truth has become a shifting personal opinion, love without truth is deception and truth without love is cold and lifeless. Love is not about making people feel good in the moment, love tells the truth, even when it’s hard to hear and truth must always be delivered in love.

2 John 1:3, grace, mercy and peace are only possible when truth and love work together. John 8:11, the pharisees were holding tightly to the truth, but they had no love, they had no mercy, but Jesus didn’t ignore the truth, nor did he condemn her without love. Instead, Jesus exposed the hypocrisy of the accusers and he said to the woman, neither do I condemn you, go now and leave your life of sin. Truth, she had sinned, love, she was given was given grace and a new start, this is what it means to walk in truth and love. But here’s where many people go wrong, they either become so focused on defending truth, that they forget to love or they are so desperate to love, that they water down the truth.

Walking in truth means knowing what God’s word says and standing firm in it, we don’t bend to popular opinions, we don’t change scripture to fit modern culture, we don’t compromise just to be accepted. Walking in love means that even when we stand firm, we do so with grace, we don’t argue just to win debates, we don’t attack others with the Bible as a weapon, we don’t use truth as an excuse to be unkind. Psalm 23:1, is a declaration of identity, a spiritual legal document and it carries the authority to transform your life, when you know who your shepherd is, you stop fearing the valley. The LORD is my shepherd was not merely a title, it was a name, four letters, no vowels, so sacred, the Israelites refuse to speak it aloud. Four letters, no vowels, this is Yahweh, the covenant God, the eternal one, Exodus 3:14, no beginning, no ending, no rival, no equal.

Psalm 23:1, David is not saying some deity shepherds me, he is declaring something so shocking, so exclusive, so defiant, the God who created galaxies with words, he is my shepherd, this is legal covenant language. In the ancient near east, for someone to call a deity my shepherd meant something profound, it meant two things, first I submit to his rule, I am no longer self-guided, his voice becomes my direction and second, he assumes responsibility for my life, my provision, my protection, my future, they are no longer my burden. Enemies didn’t fear David because of his slingshot or his throne, they feared him because he was the only king on earth whose shepherd was the I AM. Psalm 23:1 doesn’t start with comfort, it starts with authority, Yahweh, the eternal God, the self-existent one, the King of heaven, my shepherd.

the reason
Because many follow the love of the world , beleiving it is the LOVE of THE FATHER .
But clearly it is not of The FATHER but is of the world .
And its easy to test to see whether the love is of GOD or is of the wo rld .
BRING the WORDS OF GOD into a church that often hollers love non stop
THEN watch their response to such words , as they cast them behind them
and holler away hater , GOD is l ove . PROOF that love is OF THE WORLD .
cause charity WOULD REJIOCE IN TRUTH , AND GODS WORDS are TRUTH .

Thank you. This really describes the current situation with the church and living as Christians today.

Hi,

What did you mean when you said, “ eve fell
When she believed a twisted truth”?

In my humble opinion, eve fell because
She disregarded Gods Words which would have otherwise led her to obey Him, rather, to subject herself to the penalty of disobedience, not
To mention, it was Eve who caused Adam to
Eat of the Fruit, and God seemed to have
Agreed, since He said, “ women will now have to go through trevail in childbirth and suffer in
Labor, right?
Thanks Eve

We want God involved, but only on our terms, we want him to bless our plans instead of reshaping them and every time it leads to frustration and spiritual stagnation. Living this way creates a life of uncertainty, we never feel grounded, we’re always reacting instead of responding, every challenge feels overwhelming, because our foundation isn’t secure, faith without obedience doesn’t produce results. James chapter 1, the person who doubts, who lives double-minded should not expect to receive anything from the Lord, that doesn’t mean God is cruel, it means faith requires alignment, we can’t say God is first, while consistently choosing everything else over him.

Of course God is not cruel, but i was speaking with regard to the very first people who God created, giving them an opportunity to obey
Him or their own Free Will when tested, and
They failed the test, thats why i started to
Think, it was due to our first parents who caused this stain to effect all people after them, and
As a result our Free Will was shown to us all
As being part of the Human Race.

Ever wonder the Paradise we all could have had if they hadnt disobeyed the exact Words of God,
Who placed them in a perfect environment and
The only thing that ruined that perfection, was
Disobedience? I think of that often, because
They were the Poster People who engraved
Their own names into having forever become
Known as our Ancesters, who in Gods fairness,
Gave them everything, while without warning
Brought plagues into Humanity as the repercussions everyone would then endure.

Thats why i said “ thanks Eve” because she
Sinned first, then gave the apple to Adam.

Thats why, although i understand what you said, but these were the people who set the standard
For the entire human race, though God had not
Warned them they would now surely die, it seems death and sickness would likely never
Entered our world!

In the Greek New Testament, Paul develops this portrait of humans as “trust breakers,” using the word “paraptoma.” Paul recalls the story in Genesis about “Adam,” that means “humanity” in Hebrew. In that story, humanity breaks trust with God and seizes authority to discern good and evil on their own terms, Paul calls this the paraptoma of Adam, humanity’s violation of trust with God and with each other. It leads to a complicated web of betrayed and broken relationships leading towards violence and death, but for Paul, that is not the last word. Romans 5:15, if death came to all by the paraptoma of a human, how much more will God’s gracious gift overflow to many by means of a human, Jesus the King.

Instead of letting humanity destroy itself in treachery, God raised up a human who would allow our pesha to do its worst to him. This is the surprising story of the Bible, that God’s response to humanity’s pesha and paraptoma was to be trustworthy on our behalf. The Apostles claim that in Jesus, God took responsibility for our betrayal, so that he could open up a new future and a new way to be human, the way of faithfulness, trustworthiness and integrity. That’s the kind of human that Jesus was and is, it’s the kind of humans he wants to create as he faithfully guides our world into the new creation.

Israel’s God explicitly commanded them to not make any idol images, because in the Bible, all humanity is God’s image. Adam and Eve, in Hebrew, their names mean human “Adam” and life “Eve,” they’re called God’s image, which means they represent God in his Holy space. That Holy space is a garden, in a land called Eden. The story is designed to show that Eden is the reality that the later tabernacle symbolized and pointed back to. Look close at the descriptions of Eden. There’s the larger region on the land that’s called Eden, but then within Eden, God plants a garden and then, in the center of that garden, God plants the tree of life. The design of Eden matches the tabernacle design. There are details in the Eden story that are developed much later in the Bible, showing how Eden is on a high mountain, because they’re in a place where earth meets heaven.

God tells these humans to work and to keep the garden. These are the same words that are used later in the Bible, to describe what priests do in the tabernacle. Adam and Eve are God’s image and are like priests working and worshiping in a type of heaven on earth temple. Adam and Eve represent creation before God and as God’s image, they represent God to all of creation. Adam and Eve do all of this in this sacred space, that’s saturated with the life and presence of God. God tells them to rule creation on his behalf, they’re like priests who embody God’s heavenly wisdom and rule here on earth. We could call them royal priests. This whole setup, the royal priests in God’s presence, where there’s abundance and life, this is called God’s blessing. But God’s blessing doesn’t last very long, humanity is deceived by a rebellious creature. Adam and Eve are unsatisfied with being images of God, so they make a grab at being God, ruling creation on their own terms.

Humanity has given up the role God made them for. The rest of the biblical story is about God’s mission to undo this tragedy, so that humans can regain access to the heaven on earth place, where they can finally become God’s royal priests. The story all begins with a promise that God makes to Adam and Eve, that he will raise up one of their descendants to rule over and defeat that deceiver. God says that this coming descendant will strike the head of that deceiver, but also be struck by it. So, this priestly figure will restore God’s blessing by offering up his own life, like a sacrifice. The next story, we find the next generation of Adam and Eve outside of Eden, two brothers at the door of the garden are offering sacrifices to God, kind of like priests. But sadly, one brother Cain, he gets angry, because God favors his brother Abel’s sacrifice, Cain murders his own brother. Then Cain is exiled even further from Eden and from God’s blessing. Over time, Cain’s anger plunges humanity into widespread violence. Humans really need that coming royal priest to rescue them, and that’s the hope that this whole story is designed to generate, restoring humanity as royal priests.

Yes, God raised Himself as the Savior of the
Universe, but the same rules are in effect as
Was given to Adam and Eve.

Is that enough for most people to truly
Appreciate though?
You know how God said, “ only few will find
It”, and in His elaboration of teaching us, how
The road to perdition is wide, and we are only able to get to Heaven by entering through the
Narrow Gate?

The trend in most Christian circles doesnt seem
To realize what narrow truly means in that context, meaning, we often hear such talk as,
God knows we are human and will sin, as this
Is opposite to all of what God teaches, since nowhere in His Word is there a written allowance to sin because we are human, rather, we hear
Things like, “ be perfect as your heavenly Father, Jesus says”, and repent to be born into the spirit
Where “ sin” cannot abound, meaning we cant
Be truly of the Spirit if we allow ourselves to “ sin” and repent repetitively.

The bar is high, since it is the neasure of
The blood of Christ for the remission of sin, while in hebrews 10:26, we read, there is no
Further sacrifice if sin continues.

That scripture seems more alligned to the
Wirds of Christ then our being human and
Cant be without sin, however, if we claim to
Be in the spirit we cant sin, because we dont
Choose it.

Its quite simple to understand since we know we cannot serve two masters, and if we sin it becomes our choice to do so, not because God let go of anyone.

Ephesians 2:8-9, this truth has freed millions of people, people who lived crushed by the weight of guilt, trying to please God through rituals and human efforts, finally understood that salvation is a gift, it does not need to be earned, because it never could be. But understanding grace correctly is as important as receiving it, and this is exactly where many stumble, turning grace into a license to sin, completely inverts its purpose. Romans 6:1, the very nature of conversion, makes it impossible to use grace as an excuse to continue in sinning, because when Jesus saves us, something dies inside us. The dominion that sin had over our lives is broken, grace does not mean we become perfect, but it means we are no longer slaves.

“You can live for this world or the next; but to live for both is impossible.” - C.H. Spurgeon

Offered in support of your message and the OP.
Amen…

You know what i find interesting.
If we get into discussions about how Christ
Tells us to be perfect like our heavenly Father
And or mention Hebrews 10:26 of their being
No further sacrifice, only some of us take it
Seriously, when most others come back and say
We are human and cant be perfect as if to say
We Will Sin and if you ask for one scripture
Where Jesus says we will sin because we are
Human and cant help ourselves, are they really
Getting it? Do they understand to sin that to sin
Is a direct insult to God and it takes effort to
Sin, since it needs our approval and our Will.

They might come back at you and ask “ are you saying your perfect”? Your not saying your
Perfect, your just saying you choose not to.

Make sense?

We cant please our sin nature and God at
The same time, its difficult if not impossible
To do, unless we give ourselves permission
To sin, and if we do, we loose the spirit of
God in us, most dont want to see that.

Grace is not a divine permission for us to continue living as we did before, it is the power of God that empowers us to live differently. Some people take this glorious message and turn it into something that God never intended, if God is so merciful and always forgives us, why should we strive so hard to avoid sin or if grace covers everything, what is the problem with giving in to our desires. This logic seems to make sense to the carnal mind, but it completely ignores what the Bible teaches about holiness. Sound doctrine will seem too heavy, too demanding, too inconvenient for the lifestyle people want to build and when the truth starts to really bother, the natural movement is to seek a substitute that still seems spiritual, still uses the name of God, still meets on Sundays, but does not touch any part of the heart.

Exodus 34:6, “Gracious,” the Hebrew word is “khanun,” which is related to the Hebrew noun “khen.” This word “khen” is often translated as “grace” or “favor.” One meaning of khen is delightful or favorable, Psalms 45:1-2, a skilled poet is said to have lips of khen, that is, he can craft beautiful words that bring delight. Proverbs 1:9, a dazzling piece of jewelry is an ornament of khen, it attracts attention and favor. This is why “khen” is often the word used to describe a gift given with delight or favor, in these cases, khen could be translated as grace. Esther 8:3, Esther approaches the king of Persia to ask that she and her people be spared from death, this is a request for khen, and because the king delights in Esther, he favors her and grants her wish. Giving a gift of favor is khen, because it’s motivated by delight. The most extreme kind of khen, is showing favor to someone, who should get what they deserve, not a generous gift. Genesis 33:8, Jacob, who cheated his brother Esau, ran away and then after 20 years, wants to come back and make things right. Jacob comes to Esau asking, may I find khen in your eyes. Jacob isn’t asking for what is fair, but for favor, and surprisingly, that’s what Esau gives him. Esau chooses to delight in his brother Jacob and shows him grace that he doesn’t deserve.

2 John 1:1-3, walk in truth, don’t follow every new idea, because deception isn’t always obvious, it doesn’t come with a warning label, instead it looks good, it sounds good, it even feels right, but beneath the surface, it is leading people away from God.
I love that paraphrase of the scripture. It also reminds me of the teachings as contained in , The Book NLT Bible version.

Great testimony.

I believe walking in holiness is synonymous with happiness.
