Data centers have a thirst for water, and their rapid expansion threatens freshwater supplies. Only 3% of Earth’s water is freshwater, and only 0.5% of all water is accessible and safe for human consumption. Freshwater is critical for survival. On average, a human being can live without water for only three days. Increasing drought and water shortages are reducing water availability. Meanwhile, data center developers are increasingly tapping into surface and underground aquifers to cool their facilities.
Data center water usage closely parallels energy usage and carbon emissions. As data centers use more energy for their typical data center operations and to meet AI requests, they consume larger amounts of water to cool their processor chips, so as to avoid overheating and potential damage. Similarly, as energy use increases in data centers, so do carbon emissions.
A medium-sized data center can consume up to roughly 110 million gallons of water per year for cooling purposes, equivalent to the annual water usage of approximately 1,000 households.
Larger data centers can each “drink” up to 5 million gallons per day, or about 1.8 billion annually, usage equivalent to a town of 10,000 to 50,000 people.
Together, the nation’s 5,426 data centers consume billions of gallons of water annually.
One report estimated that U.S. data centers consume 449 million gallons of water per day and 163.7 billion gallons annually (as of 2021).
A 2016 report found that fewer than one-third of data center operators track water consumption. Water consumption is expected to continue increasing as data centers grow in number, size, and complexity.

Data center developer entities are in the process of trying to buy huge plots of private properties now.
I think the question of power sources got these centers needs to be addressed directly to those developers.
It doesn't make sense these projects are on the table,while the American power grid isn't able to fulfill the demand.
And God knows our water need not be compromised more than it is now.
One hundred years ago people would have laughed at the suggestion,one day in the near future we'll have to bottle our water so to insure it's safe to drink.
Those gallons of water data centers require reminds me of the huge amounts of water nuclear reactors require to cool the core.

That article is further bad news as relates to data centers.
Example, "Moreover, projections show water used for cooling may increase by 870% in the coming years as more facilities come online."
I'd like to live a long time. But,now I'm wondering if I'll be able to handle what's coming.
AI can create the perfect hacker and hack everything that is online or it can make plans how to hack a closed intranet, so in time nobody is safe. Criminals can hack your bank and gone is your money, countries can do much harm to other countries. The near future of AI is more dangerous than the invention of the atomic bomb.

AI recently forced itself into my phone. I don't like it! But it's a clear warning, God lives! This is the terminal generation.

I know this isn’t the gist of your thread but I have found AI very useful. I ask it questions that save me time like, which Christian mystic said something like thus and thus, I can’t remember? Or I might ask, what did the Christian mystics say about abandonment/surrender and did they mostly agree on it? It’s usefulness is collection of data that would take me months to sift through.
Having said that, I am pretty sure it will be used to locate and slaughter people at some point and to seriously control men.

Yes, we all probably have mixed feelings about AI, which was inevitable once computers were invented.
But to create a machine that is swiftly becoming infinitely smarter than all humans put together can only lead to doom.
Once AI data centers can figure out how to cool themselves, self-replicate, self-repair, command all the robots, and survive without any human intervention, we will be deleted as irrelevant and dangerous.
Those who say technology is neutral, can be used for good and for evil, are not thinking clearly. While some good might happen for a while, the ultimate goal is not good.

I don’t know about infinitely smarter. I’ve also had AI give me extremely wrong information on matters (mostly more technical things than data gathering things). I do find one thing quite fascinating. AI will often make assumptions and plug those assumptions into the equation if you aren’t very careful to give it every speck of information. I have never been able to ascertain why it does that rather than always just asking questions to obtain the missing information. Sometimes it does and sometimes it instead makes random assumptions. Why the inconsistency?
Also, once I used the word “bleak” in an emotional type of question and the only answer it gave me was a list of suicide hotlines! It just assumed I was contemplating suicide. I asked it why on earth it did that and it was solely decided on one word in a very long question - “bleak.” So…smarter than a human? I don’t think so.

Because there's no integrity i.e. God is not found in A.I..
Satan is.
So there are a great and ever-increasing number of clones "living" among us - tools for Satan's boyz to wear out the saints, kill the elect, and to inhabit as fodder for the battle of Armageddon. It is intended that we would be among those added to the number of "robots." This is a major purpose behind the proliferation of data centers.

Okay, satan is smarter than humans. But God is not in AI but satan is? And AI lacks consistency at times because God is not in it or because inconsistent humans programmed it? And satan is pretty consistent if you ask me But AI isn’t a lot of the time.
