Do you not know that you know God? I don't have any question in my mind that I know my Creator. He has proven Himself to me time and again.

Personally I think this is the most important question you can ask anyone, including yourself. Do you know Him?

Much love!
what is the purpose of our creation?

to know, love, and serve God!

What about the beginning of wisdom is fear of the LORD?
The Purpose of the gifts of the Holy Spirit?

Together with prayer and the virtues of Jesus Christ the gifts of the spirit supply for the defects of original sin and fallen human nature, with grace they enable us to subject the lower carnal passions unto the intellect and will and thereby accomplish the will of God!

The gifts of the spirit help produce the fruits of the spirit!

The gifts of the Holy Spirit:

Wisdom:
Understanding:
Counsel:
Knowledge:
Piety:
Fortitude:
Fear of the Lord:

Fruits of the spirit:

Love:
Joy:
Peace:
Patience:
Kindness:
Generosity:
Faithfulness:
Gentleness:
Self-control:

Virtues are a supernatural help from God that help supply the defects of our fallen human nature!

The virtues of Jesus Christ!

Theological Virtues :

Faith, Hope, & charity!

Faith:

Faith is an intellectual assent to a truth revealed by Christ and proposed by His holy church for our belief!

“Faith is the supernatural virtue by which we firmly believe all the truths God has revealed, on the word of God revealing them, who can neither deceive nor be deceived (John 20:29)”

Act of Faith
O my God, I firmly believe that Thou art one God in three Divine Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I believe that Thy Divine Son became man and died for our sins, and that He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches, because Thou hast revealed them, Who canst neither deceive nor be deceived. Amen.

Hope:

“Hope is the supernatural virtue by which we firmly trust that God, who is all-powerful and faithful to His promises, will in His mercy give us eternal happiness and the means to obtain it (Romans 8:24-25)”

Act of Hope
O my God, relying on Thy almighty power and infinite mercy and promises, I hope to obtain pardon of my sins, the help of Thy grace, and life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer. Amen.

Charity:

“Charity is the supernatural virtue by which we love God above all things for His own sake, and our neighbor as ourselves for the love of God” (deut. 6:5, 1 Corinthians 13:1-2 & 13:13
1 pet 4:8)

Act of Charity (Love)
O my God, I love Thee above all things, with my whole heart and soul, because Thou art all good and worthy of all my love. I love my neighbor as myself for the love of Thee. I forgive all who have injured me, and ask pardon of all whom I have injured. Amen.

Cardinal or moral Virtues: Prudence, Justice, Fortitude and Temperance!

Prudence:

Prudence is the virtue that disposes practical reason to discern our true good in every circumstance and to choose the right means of achieving it.

Justice:

Justice is the moral virtue that consists in the constant and firm will to give their due to God and neighbor. Justice toward God is called the “virtue of religion.” Justice toward men disposes one to respect the rights of each and to establish in human relationships the harmony that promotes equity with regard to persons and to the common good.

Fortitude:

Fortitude is the moral virtue that ensures firmness in difficulties and constancy in the pursuit of the good. It strengthens the resolve to resist temptations and to overcome obstacles in the moral life. The virtue of fortitude enables one to conquer fear, even fear of death, and to face trials and persecutions. It disposes one even to renounce and sacrifice his life in defense of a just cause.

Temperance:

Temperance is defined as moderation or voluntary self-restraint in regards to food and drink, especially alcohol.

Christian Virtues:

Humility:

Humility is the foundation of all the other virtues hence, in the soul in which this virtue does not exist, there cannot be any other virtue except in mere appearance.
—St. Augustine

Humility is truth! Any exaggeration either way, to belittle or to self-aggrandize is a violation of the virtue of humility.

Matthew 11:29
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

I'm 100% Born again by the Grace of God. I know Jesus and the Holy Spirit talks to me and I've seen angels and demons, mostly angels. I'm an ambassador for Christ. Jesus calls me to churches He wants me to go to.
I know most of you can't believe this, but it is all biblically based.

<10.
I don't subscribe to OSAS and I think the bar is a lot higher than I was taught when I attended church. I believe we'll be judged on our works like it says in Revelation. Sins unto death disqualify us.
That being said, I see more fruit in my life now so Im way more confident than before.
OSAS eliminates the virtue of hope!

1 cor 13:13

Hope is trust in the Lord!

Amen?

I think a good church is where the Bible is preached as the inerrant, infallible Word of God, and where the congregation is loving.

A loving congregation (where the Bible is preached as above) shows fruits of the Spirit. Some people can have Bible knowledge but be unloving...so their knowledge is more about pride.

@Riven The above might be helpful to you on finding a good church.
sorry there is only one true church founded by Christ alone! mt 16:18-19 Jn 10:16

If we saved ourselves, then it wouldn't be at all humble to say, "I am 100% confident that I am saved." But the Lord Jesus Christ is the One Who saves us. All the glory goes to Him. So when a saved person says that they are 100% confident that they are saved, their confidence is in Jesus Christ, not in themselves.
when does this happen?

after death and judgement?

Good quote. What can be more humble than declaring with certainty, what another person will do - not in general, but as it pertains to what column he'll put you in?

Biblical "hope" is the expectation we have due to our faith. Example, Jesus promised resurrection to those who believe, and so, believing, we expect to be resurrected. It's not the wistful, Oh I hope this will happen, maybe it will, maybe it won't, but I hope it does. It's a certain expectation because we believe God's Word.

Much love!

"For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance". Romans 8:24-25

Therefore, if we see what we once waited for, we have no further need to hope or waiting. If not, then it is good to wait and persevere.

three are eternal!

faith hope and charity 1 cor 13:13

not an outgrowth of faith

the greatest is not faith alone but charity with commandment

deut 6:5
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

mt 22:37-39

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

1 Peter 4:8
And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

1 Corinthians 16:22
If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema

Speaking for yourself?

Much love!
Uhhh!......Nope!
I am, however, addressing merely ONE of the reasons why I am so reluctant in attending any particular assemblage of (cough....cough) believers.
As "most" of these "physical structures?" Are JUST THAT! Physical! Only "interest of focus" (unfortunately) is based on "quantity of people" verses "QUALITY of teaching!"
(apologize here........inadvertently hit a button that posted this before I was finished......stuff happens!....lol)
They grow the church to increase the revenue, and water down (tickle) the message to increase the numbers, to grow the revenue, to water down the message to increase the numbers, to increase the numbers, to grow the revenue! On and on it goes! Cycle after cycle after cycle!

I’m glad you got wind of this thread and made thoughtful posts.
It seems that "AI" is "slowly YET, steadily" taking over the pulpits!

(This is GOD in a "LAMENT" to the Prophet Jeremiah concerning a "slice of Eternity" PRIOR to this "CURRENT slice!" Readers should NOTE how very similar this "lament IS" to how things are HERE and NOW!)
Jeremiah 4:
19 My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.
20 Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is spoiled: suddenly are my tents spoiled, and my curtains in a moment.
21 How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet?
22 For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.
