I can't afford such a holiday.

You probably have responsibilities right now so can't get away for long. But my neighbor worked on cruise ships for awhile. He was able to visit South America, Great Britain and Russia. I think maybe some of Europe.

He worked as a waiter I think as that's what he does now. But I guess they have other jobs available.

Thailand was my favorite Asian country of the seven I visited. The second time I went I did a nine day bus tour from Bangkok all the way to the Northern town of Chang Rai (North of Chang Mai).

Thailand has so much interesting and pretty architecture, ancient ruins, water buffalos roaming the roads, homes on stilts along the canals. I visited three Hill Tribes in the mountains. They all wear different tribal outfits and sell their handcrafts. We reached two Hill Tribes by riding in the back of a jeepney.

Another Hill Tribe was reached by long tail boat. Their village was near the river and wood houses were built on stilts. There was a small wood church in that Karen village. Little kids came out to sell woven belts they had made. One tiny girl was wearing a cross so I bought a belt from her too.


I was in Phoenix one time during the Summer to visit my uncles. Your brain feels like it is baking. Everyone goes out only early morning and in the evening. Even then it's hot in Summer. Never went back in Summer.

Let us honor the LORD in all that we do and say . Were it not For Him a far hotter place would have been our end .
To HE we owe all . HONOR . He who honors the SON honors the FATHER who sent Him .
And now a quick reminder . When one hears the gospel and rejects the Truth , t here is no honor at all .
They rather call the SON and the FATHER a liar and deny ALL that HE DID . Just a reminder
for us all to never once embrace a false hope , a lie . For that DOES NOT HONOR the THE SON .

I was born and raised in Texas. Texas now is eaten up with data centers. I'd chose a location outside the United States (bc of the data centers) ...but I'd have to take all my children/their spouses and grandbabies with me, and a few close friends. Otherwise, I don't wanna go. lol

There's a song I listen to sometimes that says "Home's who you're with when you don't feel alone anymore."

@TLHKAJ, the USA are wanting to plant data centers all over NZ and in the South Island of NZ. I don't know why they just do what Elon Musk is doing and put them in space. It saves a lot of water and earth resources.

Anyway, I would like to go to Texas just to see what it is like there and enjoy the climate and the terrain...

I have three in my bucket list.
Not in this order:
1. New Zealand (for trout fishing)
2. Scotland (to see my ancestors' home)
3. Thailand (for its culture and unique mountains).

Even though my home state, (Idaho) has its own world class trout fishing, I would love to visit New Zealand for trophy brown trout.

Hi @JimKnox, I live about an hour from Taupo. Known as the "Trout fishing capital of the North Island. The Tongariro River is globally famous for trophy-sized brown trout. If you're ever down my way, hit me up. Although I have never fished for trout in my life.... I see them when hiking and crossing rivers here.

I always thought San Antonio Texas would be a nice city. Remember the Alamo. And they have the River Walk... restaurants alongside a scenic "river". You can take a boat down the "river" to sightsee.

I've been there. Yes, it's beautiful ...but prostitutes on the street corners, at least when I was there. And the Alamo has graffiti on it. It's sad. Well, at least that's how it was when I was there, but that was a long time ago.

Spent a week in Japan. Loved the ancient city of Kyoto...thousands of temples and each one has a large garden to stroll. As a nature lover I loved the gardens. Also visited Nikko which has a large shrine on top of the mountain...there are 37 hairpin turns to get up to the top. There's also a lovely blue lake up there. Took the Bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto so saw the scenery...lots of rice paddies and small wood farms with blue tile roofs.

Tokyo is just too busy and modern for me but I loved the other areas.

This is called the Golden Pavilion... it's in Kyoto. Notice the mirror image in the water.
