The way that whole passage is written makes me wonder if it is referring to the old man/new man, because the examples Jesus gave were always two of the same gender together...at His coming one will be taken and the other left. I don't know which is which though.

Not saying you're wrong and I'm right, but I think it was believers gathered either at the cross or at His tomb. Exodus seems to show that God uses eagles as a symbol of how He draws people to Himself.

Exodus 19:4 — "Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself."

Hm. Okay. Not sure any of that is addressing any of my comments... and maybe just avoiding them... but yeah, okay. <smile>
It was from this of yours.
like a director assigning parts to actors for a movie or play, right?

If you like being eaten by eagles, then I guess its a good place for you, but I'd rather be left with Jesus through the Millennium.

37 And they answered and said to Him, “Where, Lord?”

So He said to them, “Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together.”
Jesus used "dogs, bread, and children , when none of that was literally there, in the conversation with the cannonite woman.
If we apply your methods, (Jesus literally referring to them), the woman, therefore, would need to actually say, (using your interpretation methods), "what dogs, children, and bread"?
Then walk away satisfied that she was correct in not understanding it was all an analogy. ...and stay empty handed.

Pssst...LITERAL eagles and corpses do not fit ANY rapture position.
.....unless you think the rapture timing is armageddon ( eagles and corpses )
....which would be ....again....incorrect.

So much of what Jesus used was analogy.
The reader has to dig to understand.

Exodus 19:4 — "Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself."
Your cite uses a word for eagle (nešer) that is different from that found in the "one taken, one left" scenario. The usage of that eagle appears 26 times.

Whereas there are only four appearances of eagle (aetos) as pertains to the "one taken, one left" topic:

...two verses where eagles are gathered around carcasses and dead bodies:

"For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together."

"And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together."

...and two more verses:

"And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle." [The fourth beast was not a flying eagle itself but was similar to a flying eagle.]

"And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent." [The woman was given two wings of an eagle - not the eagle itself - with which to fly.]

Rather, no shovels required! Who gives us understanding - men, or God? It's the scholars, the wannabee's, the fakirs, who have corrupted the covenant and led many astray:

But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the LORD of hosts (Mal. 2:8)

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. (James 1:5)

But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus (2 Tim. 3:14-15).

Notice that even a child understands the holy scriptures -- no middlemen wanna-be ‘scholars’ required!

What my biggest hurdle is, that Jesus only speaks of coming back once, not twice. If there was a secret resurrection rapture at the beginning of the seven year Great Tribulation, and another at the end before the wrath of God is poured out, wouldn't it spell it out in one place, instead of taking so many verses out of context here and there?

r454, just focus on abiding in Jesus and Him solidifying your walk in the Spirit with Jesus, so you may escape all these things. The only mysterious 'vanishings' would be the section in the gospel of the two in the field, the two is bed, with one taken and the other left alone. But the parallel gospels show the opposite of what fiction writer, Tim LaHaye writes who has confused thousands of people, don't you think? The Great Tribulation is a "time of testing" not the "wrath of God."

Acts 17
10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

THE BIBLE ="study to show thyself approved"

YOU= "NO, study would be evil"

We are warned about so called believers teaching study is a bad thing.

We are warned against your wild accusations, and bitterness against believers in James 3.
14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

This explains your confusion over thinking study is evil

Well what is written is reliable.
What people think is not.

Rev 14
14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.
15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.
16 And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.

That is the eternal word of God.
One vivid coming of JESUS HARVESTING THE ELECT DURING THE TRIB.

Now the second coming AFTER THE WRATH;
Rev 19
6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.

THAT IS GODS WORD.
THAT YOU SAY IS ONLY ONE COMING ...WHICH IS WRONG.

3 FUTURE COMINGS
I won't bother with the third, since you will not believe the bible.
I think you are talking resurrections, not "comings."

The last two would be the resurrection of the martyrs at the beginning of the Millennium (1,000 year reign on earth), and the resurrection of everyone else at the end.

It is the one before the 7 year Great Tribulation I'm having a problem seeing. It has been mistakenly said that that time of testing is God's wrath. No, testing is not wrath; it is the time for the Jews to see the truth about Jesus and join the Church, but also for lukewarm Christians who have believed false doctrines of greasy grace all their lives to have to decide whether to take the mark of the beast and live, or to finally make a stand for Christ and die.

No unbelieving Gentiles will be saved during that last 7 years, only Jews. Unbelieving Gentiles are said to be naked. The martyrs of the Great Tribulation already have robes, but dirty, and had to have them washed in the blood of the Lamb.

I don't think you can rule out Armageddon as you are thinking. The point of this OP is which of the two words, took and left means destroyed. It turned out by examining Scripture parallels that it is "took" that the other gospel substitutes "destroyed" in the same quotation. I don't think you can get any clearer than that. But I have heard radio pastors say, "it is obvious that those who are taken are the ones raptured." Sometimes you just can't fix stupid.

The bible is not stupid.
THE BIBLE SAYS , half are taken and half left behind.
So your mental doctrine has half the world taken to destruction BEFORE THE FLOOD.

THE BIBLE SAYS , half are taken and half left behind.
That's absolutely incorrect; the Holy Bible does NOT say "half".

As believers, we agree that the Holy Bible is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice. We shall let scripture interpret scripture.

Then shall two be in the field; the one [heis] shall be taken, and the other [heis] left. (Matthew 24:40)

As used in Matthew 24:40, "one" [heis] can also mean some, a, or other. - source: Blue Letter Bible

For example,

And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit. And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some [heis] thirty, and some [heis] sixty, and some [heis] an hundred. (Mark 4:7-8)

And whosoever shall compel thee to go a [heis] mile, go with him twain. (Matthew 5:41)

And when [Jesus] saw a [heis] fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only...(Matthew 21:19)

And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other [heis] on his left. (Matthew 15:27)

Your following conclusion, indeed, your entire premise, is now forfeit:
So your mental doctrine has half the world taken to destruction BEFORE THE FLOOD.
Your trolling of this thread to continually insert your false "Noah/The taken and the left" dichotomy has been exposed.

I didn't mean YOU are stupid. But pastors that preach only books of the Bible for 40 years should know the Word of God, but every show they make glaring mistakes. And the people who call in for answers to their questions actually thank them for these wrong answers, leaving them just as stupid as they were before asking the wrong people questions on the Bible.

But, if you are asking were those before and in the flood "taken to destruction" YES. I already showed you the two parallel verses from different books shows one uses took, and the other uses destroyed to mean the same thing. Would you rather be taken to the lake of fire, or left forever with Jesus when He comes?

Again half are taken and half are left behind.
You are ASSUMING half the world is born again and half wicked.
( then strangely apply that falsehood to a made up wicked people rapture preflood....pretrib)

NO WAY POSSIBLE OR PLAUSIBLE.
Your theory is that "taken" equates to the flood.
1)There is NEVER ANYTIME in the future where all earths population is destroyed.
So that exact analogy is not at all applicable.
2) there is never any time in the future, past, or present where half of Earth's population is born again and half of Earth's population is wicked.( your theory of a pretrib wicked people raptured to hell)
So that exact analogy is automatically taken off the table because it's completely bizarre .

So everything you are theorizing is false.
100% false.
( not even a little bit trying to convince you. I know you cling to the wicked people pretrib rapture. I am only pushing back against the twisting of scripture)

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Read it.
Caught up.
THEY GO UP.
NOT IN ANY WAY STAYING, AND WATCHING SOME SILLY MADE UP , WICKED PERSON RAPTURE.
See where your theory takes you??????
Into false doctrine.!!!!!!
Unbelievable.
Some strange loyalty to false doctrine.

Into false doctrine.!!!!!!
Unbelievable.
Some strange loyalty to false doctrine.
I agree. So what do you think "left" means? Left out of heaven? Do they then just walk into the lake of fire on their own? NO! They are taken and thrown in - destroyed.

Look at the parables. For instance, the wheat and tares. Who are harvested first, the ones taken or left behind?

Matthew 13:
24 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; 25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. 26 But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. 27 So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ 28 He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ 29 But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.” ’ ”

The wheat are left and caught up to be in the new heaven and new earth.

You read too much fiction like the Left Behind series, and now you are brainwashed. Stick to the Bible like I do.

And yet again, more recklessness with scripture:
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Gotta luv "the simplicity that is in Christ" (2 Cor. 11:3). We simply let scripture interpret scripture. Looking closer at that awesome passage (1 Thes. 4:16-17):

Believers don’t do the hackneyed “go to heaven” thing; rather, Christ sets up his kingdom here, with us. We, being "caught up" with others, meet the Lord in the air and then return back to earth with him.

For example, if your friends fly in from another country to visit you, you might travel to your local airport to meet them when their plane lands and then escort them back to your place. If they’re VIP friends, you might have a delegation meet them at your country's main airport, and then escort them back to your place. In either case, you don’t go to your airport, meet your friends, get on your friend’s plane, and then travel with your friends back to their place of origin!

So, do we have a scriptural witness to this scenario? Yes.

...we came the next day to Puteoli: Where we found brethren, and were desired to tarry with them seven days: and so we went toward Rome. And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage. And when we came to Rome... -- Acts 28:13-16

The brothers in Rome got word of their impending visitors, and so went out to meet them at Appii forum, and then escorted them back to Rome.

meet = same word in both Acts 28 and 1 Thes. 4.

Here are all four usages of the word meet:

Mat. 25:1 - Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

Mat. 25:6 - And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

Acts 28:15 - And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.

1 Thes. 4:17 - Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

All four are consistent with “meet and greet and return to base.“
