Recent discussion has centred on whether or not certain people on this forum can honestly claim that they were called by God to the role of being a Prophet.

Some claim that the Holy Spirit has prompted them to be a prophet on this forum as well as in their respective places of "Worship."

Do the claimed prophets actually live up to the calling on their lives.

Your thoughts.

Shalom

I won't make any judgments about the validity of prophets and seers on this forum; but honestly, I don't pay any attention them. Why should I take spiritual advice from an unknown name on a computer screen.

As the modern church is so far off the rails it will be rare to hear a true prophet of God. In fact IMO it will be rare to hear a true Elder of the church.

In the time Paul is mentioning some are called to be prophets and apostles the church was of Christ. They were uncorrupted from millenia of counter and false doctrines and ideologies.

They were not actually prophesising and preaching on public or Christian forums over who was a prophet or not. They kept to themselves and lived the faith until death. So the climate was right that Christ was among them and they had visions and were of one spirit that there was no division or conflicts among them.

It seems the church has become publicised like another identity group claiming authority that has not been earnt. I think when we hear ytue prophesy Christians will know. I don't think it happens often as far as some coming event. The biblical prophets only came about every so often and at the right time.

We live in a time where there are all sorts of spirits and demons at work. New age ideas of fortune telling and other mystical and gnostic claims that seem to be whitenoise compared to Gods patient and clear words when they come to the church.

I think first get the church right and then the way is open for Gods spirit to work through prophesy but also in all areas that bring Gods will into reality. Thats when the good fruits of the spirit are at work.

This comes to mind regarding that which is going on within and to today's churches:
Ezekiel 13:
1 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts, Hear ye the word of the Lord;
3 Thus saith the Lord God; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!
5 Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the Lord.
6 They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The Lord saith: and the Lord hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word.
7 Have ye not seen a vain vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination, whereas ye say, The Lord saith it; albeit I have not spoken?
8 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because ye have spoken vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith the Lord God.
9 And mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and that divine lies: they shall not be in the assembly of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord God.

Hebrews 6:1
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

There's SOMETHING to be said about "Leading a horse to water....but ya can't MAKE 'em DRINK!"

1 Peter 2:5
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

Because HERE is where the "HEAVY LIFTING" Starts!
So? At anytime a believer stops along THIS path towards the "Strait Gate?"
Is ok!
What's NOT OK is when said person or persons start teaching or preaching that where they have chosen to end THEIR "pilgramage/s?"
Is the ending destination for EVERYONE!

A real prophet.
Called by God.
On this forum.
Tsss I doubt it.
We wouldn't listen to a real prophet anyway. God's people rarely do.

There's a reason prophets get stoned.

John the Baptist was the last old testament prophet. New Testament prophets are messengers of God's word. For instance, a pastor friend of mine was very sick. I've been to his house. The Holy Spirit told me to go to my pastor friends house and tell him he had 100 days left to live. This was last year April 29. On the second week of August he died. Exactly 100 days. I'm not a prophet. I have more stories.

The mainstream churches. Because they are no different to the world and have divided themselves. Where there is division there is no longer Christ.

Because the modern church are not standing with Christ but with the worlds ideologies. Trying to create a kindon of their own making on earth and not in heaven.

because they are not being persecuted in the name of Christ but rather trying to be relevant to the world.

Because we have many, many examples of the church abuses and of leaders who grossly lack the qualifications Paul mentions in being above reproach. Because people dress to bring attention to themselves and not God. Because they love money and materialism rather than sacrificing this all to God and living in poverty.

I could go on. These are the bad fruits of the spirit. If you want to know the good fruits then look at the early church just after Christ. They lived in a similar world of pagan beliefs and world ideologies and looked what happened to them. They were hated because they did not compromise and were killed.

I don't see much of that happening in western churches. Maybe in some 3rd world nations where Christians are being murdered and persecuted. But not in the west. The western churches are the ones who Christ speaks of as claiming to know Christ but Christ did not know them.

Revelation 3:
14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Yeah? There's a lot of them out there!

Babylon is "Falling!" As in the "process" OF.
Though I think even Ray Charles can "see" that!

Ray had a good sense of those who were up to know good. Afterall he was no good and was to to "hit the road Jack".

Thats a good verse and spot on as to how the churh is lukewarm. Neither hot nor cold. A foot in both worlds.

We are told to watch, part of that to me is watching the so called prophets within the church today. What I have found with them is they do not put their words from God in writing and tthat is a prophet to me. I only know of one and she is a propetess but all words are written from the Lord and says "saith the Lord of Hosts" Do you know any?

Are you calling Yeshua's words a lie? Matthew 23:34 (KJV) Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:
