This is a question I hate. Advocates say you should be 100% confidant but that doesn't seem humble to me.

How confidant are you? What does that say about your humility?
As a Roman Catholic following Catholicism = mostly confident but thru outward deception

As a Jehovah witness(of men) = mostly confident but thru inward deception

As a Jew = Super confident but thru self-righteousness and Moses

As a Baptist and/or Protestant= Super confident but thru church attendance

As a former RCC who at the age of 23 was Called by GOD to repentance unto CHRIST/GOSPEL and then Baptized in the HOLY SPIRIT,
i have ZERO confidence in myself or in religion but FULL Confidence in "HE who Began a Good Work in you will COMPLETE it till the Day of Christ"

refers to spiritual death

you can commit the sin unto death many times

physical death was caused by the fall of adam

thks
No

Eternal life is spiritual life. One can not die after they have been given it.

God keeps us. it is on him, since he made the promise not based on our righteous deeds but based on his mercy and grace paid on the cross.

eternal life before our physical death and judgement is grace, the life of God that Christ shares with us!

grace gives us union with God and His saints

sin separates us from God and saints, spiritually!

spiritually alive in grace or spiritually dead being devoid of grace

Eternal life is a status we get as a gift of Grace, it includes the cat that we will never perish, but we will live forever. It continues after our physical death, it will continue for all eterntiy. Hence why it is called "eternal"

Sin was taken care of on the cross.

if sin can still condemn you., you have not been saved

Grace is free. it is by Gods mercy, based on the merit he paid on the cross.

If can not be earned by you doing something or not doing something

More encouragement, persevere and you'll receive the prize at the end of the race.???

you claim to already have the prize!

thks

@Eternally Grateful just cannot bring himself to address his contradiction.

Eternal life is a status we get as a gift of Grace

He simply doubles down on the trope of a free gift, side stepping our burden to act after the fact.

Sin was taken care of on the cross.
If sin was taken care of on the cross, then universalism is correct doctrine?

So, absolutely no need to fear God one little bit? Doesn't sound too biblical.
Having no confidence in my own ability equates to "the Fear of God is the Beginning of Wisdom"

But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ.
Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.

some people just can not get out of their own self. and give God everything.

There is no bigger contradiction than confidence = fear. This is true despite your indoctrination of pivoting from you to God.

Appeal to Diversion. How confident are you? I’m confident … in someone else.

Yes, but the judgment for sins ( evil) of Christians, who have been washed by his blood, has been canceled. Our judgment will then be for our deeds in which we will receive rewards based in our love that we have given, service, etc.

John 1 is a powerful chapter about the deity of Christ. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. His fullness was shown.
"He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him." Believers received Him, non believers did not. So "we" obviously means Christians.

Perseverance is accomplished with the Holy Spirit. So it is just a reassuring statement of fact. Those who will persevere, will be saved because they have already passed from death to life.

Again, perseverance is by the power the God provides. Just encouragement ... as we encourage others: "Don't worry, you'll make it, have faith".

Because we are saved, have faith, are sealed, it does not mean we won't suffer or be tested. Job was.
the judgement seat of Christ seperates the sheep from the goats not rewards

it is about salvation and damnation

read matt 25

45 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

1 John 1:7
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

we can still go back to walking in darkness and sin, with the guilt of that sin!

we don't have eternal salvation we have union by grace

sorry brother I have the following promise from Christ himse;f

john 3, for god so loved the world he gave his only son that whoever believes in him will never perish, but has eternal life, for the son was not sent to judge, but that the world might be saved, he who believes is not condemned, he who does not believe is condemned already

john 4: 13 Jesus answered and said to her, “whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that i shall give him will never thirst. but the water that i shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life”

john 5: 24 “most assuredly, i say to you, he whoever hears my word and believes in him who sent me who sent me has eternal life and shall not come into judgment but has passed from death to life

john 6: 35 and Jesus said to them, “i am the bread of life. he who comes to me shall never hunger and he who believes in me shall never thirst

john 6: 37: and the one who comes to me i will by no means cast out 38 for i have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me. 39 this is the will of the father who sent me, that of all he has given me i shall lose nothing, but should raise it up on the last day. 40 and this is the will of him who sent me, that everyone who sees and believes in him may have everlasting life and i will raise him on the last day

john 6: 47 most assuredly, i say to you, he who believes in me has everlasting life. 48 i am the bread of life. 49 your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. 50 this is the bread which comes down from heaven, that that one may eat of it and not die 51 am the living bread which came down from heaven. if anyone eats this bread he will live forever

1. I will never perish
2. I have eternal life
3. Am not condemned
4. Will never thirst
5. Will not come to judgment
6. Shall never hunger
7. Will nto be cast out
8. Will be raised on the last day
9. Will not die,
10. will live forever

either you can claim the promises of God. or you can reject the promises of God. and continue to try to save yourselv and not recieve these promises.

I will warn you however. You will not win eternal life. it is a gift. it can not be earned..

It is ludicrous to not fear God and have confidence in your own self righteousness.

The OSAS crowd wants to ignore the conditional implication of “IF.” If we don’t walk in the light is an option with the negation Of what follows:
  • We do NOT have fellowship with each other
  • The blood of Christ does NOT cleanse us from all sin.
Otherwise, the conditional IF serves no purpose in the sentence. IF you now my grass, THEN I’ll give you $20 can’t mean I’ll give you $20 unconditionally.

Again, you ignore verses inconvenient for your doctrine and allow only verses for discussion that support your position. I trust anyone reading these exchanges recognize the intellectual dishonesty of your posts.
