Depending on ones willingness to accept arguments etc, yes it can be proven that God exists.

One of the simplist arguments is that things exist. As Maria in the Sound of Music sang, " Nothing comes from Nothing, nothing ever did. "

The universe is far to complex, displays far too many examples of design to have just come into being.

The problem isnt the evidence or arguments but the unwillingness of atheiost to examine their preduices.
That's always been the best one by far.

Answer: divine hiddenness.

I can understand ^this^ too

Since He is the invisible God. Even though invisible does not mean He is not there (just not seen)

Heb 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen
were not made of things
which do appear.

2 Cr 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal;
but the things which are not seen are eternal
.

Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made,
even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse

It does say also, that the world cannot receive one they cannot see, even in the case of the Spirit of truth

John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

By nature of being invisible there would naturally be a divine hiddenness

From my X / Twitter “Following” feed this morning -

“Thomas Sowell on how he taught students:

’I’d spend a great deal of time putting together a reading list, where I’d find the strongest argument on one side and then the best example of the opposing view.’

’I didn’t test students on which side they believed. I tested them on whether they understood the arguments on both sides.’”

Christians are atheistic towards Brahma Vishnu and Shiva and in fact all of the other Gods known to man apart from one.

Atheists are not making a God claim, atheism is a simple disbelief in a God or God's, therefore the burden of proof lies with the person making the positive claim.

If somebody told you that invisible five headed pelicans existed, you would want to see concrete watertight evidence to believe in such a thing, until then you would take the default position of disbelief.

William Lane Craig offers his opinion on what the strongest argument for atheism is in this 4 minute video.

Why should theists care about arguments for atheism?

Is there a stronger argument for atheism than the one identified by Dr. Craig?
The strongest argument for atheism is almost certainly the lack of Christ like character in those who profess to know Him.
How many less atheists and agnostics would there be, had any of them ever actually encountered another soul living out the life of Christ before them?

And thanks for referencing Thomas Sowell. Perhaps the greatest living American intellectual that most have never heard about. Though Thomas Sowell himself would absolutely loathe being referred to as such.

Thank you for the post.

Actually, the burden of proof is currently laid at the feet of atheists! The Universe looks like it was designed. Even our own solar system looks like it was designed for life on the 3rd planet from the sun. Regarding life itself: atheists have yet to prove how the first cells were created. As Professor M Behe documented, they have yet to show how random evolution could create the irreducibly complex flagellum of bacteria. Finally, there does not appear to be enough time for randomness to create any of the major life forms today.

Peace!

There is a big difference between knowledge and faith.

If I said to you that whales live underwater, you would know that the statement is correct, no faith required.

If I said to you that Jesus will definitely save people, you can pretend to know that the statement is correct, but in reality you have to rely on faith as there is no tangible evidence in support of the statement.

Atheism only addresses the God question.
Do you have to prove your disbelief in pixies or the loch Ness monster?

The burden of proof lies with whoever is making the positive claim.

And remember folks extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Where is the evidence? The Bible is evidence of the existence of the Bible and that's all.

It's funny how on a Christian forum there's so much disagreement between Christians.

You'd think that a God that is capable of creating a universe would also be capable of getting a simple message across to his followers.
Creating Saturn must have been quite tricky, getting a clear message across pales into insignificance.

I don't think any of you can be confident about your salvation, I don't think any of you can be confident about anything regarding Christianity.

Atheists have a clear evidence backed confidence... Just because our reality involves a death from which there is no return, and it's not a very nice thought it doesn't make it any less true.

If God exists, I shouldn't have to demand evidence. God would be self evident.

Should we really be trying to interpret a two thousand year old collection of texts written by largely anonymous authors to establish the existence of God? And more importantly what this God expects from us?

The answer is plainly no, unless of course we haven't got a definitive answer to the origins of the universe.

Apologies.
I haven't got the hang of the quote tags yet.

”Trump?” in post # 136 is of course yours, not mine. You know that but some of our readers may not. It would be better for everyone concerned if you went back and removed it from your post, but follow your conscience. I’ve set the record straight.

Do you blame Trump (see post #34) for “childhood cancer, tsunamis, starvation, hurricanes etc etc etc …”?

Of course not, I don't blame Trump... That was English sarcasm.

I've been back and deleted it.

Thank you.

So, you don’t blame God and you don’t blame Trump for any of those things. Who do you blame for them?
