Actually I think the Dome of the Rock is exactly where the Temple was as it sits over the foundation stone in which the Covenant of the Ark sat on that rock. There are cut outs that are said to have been made to fit the Arc on the rock.

Plus this is suppose to be where Abraham was going to sacrifice his son at the altar and where David bought the land and built an alter to God to stop the plague. Jacob dreams of the foundation rock where a ladder reached to heaven.

A platform was made to build the Temple and the rock was a central part. I think the rock has to be part of the Temple considering all that history and connection.

Then the Muslims come along 1000s of years later to claim that Mohammad rode his magical horse to the 7th heavens. After taking Jeruslam and see how much religious connection it had to the Jews which they hated. I think this was added to then outdo the Jews as the true religion.

It isn't. This was Herods extension. But its the closest the Jews have to the Temple to pray at. Though as I mentioned it seems there has been a softening for some and they can now go up to the inner terrace where the Dome is. Which would be the Jews most holy place and the inner sancturary of the Temple where the Arc sat.

Yes though I think if you go under the area of the western wall you can see some of the original stones under the stones Herod built from the original walls.

Herod extended the platform but incorporated the original walls surrounding the temple. Some claim that there are original stones and even wood from the Temple.

I watched a doco on when they had to do repairs around the Dome and it showed some original stones and work. They also say that the Octagon building around the Dome of the Rock built by the Caliph Abd al-Malik (688). Was originally a Christian Octagon church as this was a common pattern at that time. The Dome was suppose to be a Mosque but does not have a Kibla.

Its hard to believe that no monument was ever placed there from after the 2nd Temples destruction for 600 years.

The Arc of the covenant was burnt up by the Babylonians while destroying the first temple. When the exiles came back, they were never in possession of the Arc again. I agree that the temple is where the Dome of the rock is, and also the Dome of the rock used materials from Herod's temple to build it.

As Jesus will rule with a rod of iron, not allowing dictators to rule over nations, nor abusive governments.

I agree the temple site was never on the Temple Mount. I believe the Second Temple was built in the Ophel area, which is currently being excavated. They are finding an uncommon number of mikvehs in this area, and I believe they will eventually discover that Herod's renovated temple occupied this site, south of the wall at the base of the so-called "Temple Mount". I find it especially ironic that Muslims require shoes to be removed before entry to the Dome of the Rock. They have no idea that they are unintentionally giving honor to the site where my Savior was scourged by the Romans and His blood was spattered on the ground in that Roman Fortress of Antonia zone.

Do you know about the huge underground mosque that has been built under the Dome of the Rock platform? To build it, they illegally removed dump-truck loads of dirt from underneath and threw it away - into the Kidron Valley, I believe. This ruined any kind of archaeological dating that could have been done by obliterating the particular "layers' of what relics that dirt contained. But at least the piles of cast-off dirt were collected and are being sifted through for artifacts. And there are a bunch of them in that cast-off soil that are being reclaimed.

I was reading somewhere a few weeks ago while prepairing to teach matt 24 that the old fortress Antonia had a large rock inside its walls.. This is most likely the dome of the rock.. Also. not one stone was left. anyone who visited the site would not have seen that wall.. Supposedly Antonia was destroyed also. the only thing standing was the three towers and part of western wall of the city by Herods Home

The dome of the rock would not fit any destriction of the temple. inside or out. David purchased a threshing floor, and it is that floor which is where the temple was built.

A foolish one would think jesus is ruling with a rod of Iron today. If this world we see today is Jesus ruling. I have not much hope for my heavenly kingdom.
