The correct instinct in 1890 should’ve been - “Yeah? Darwin’s micro is true and observable with the finches and moths, so what? His leap-of-faith macro evolution is garbage and still unproven and there are INDEED, dinosaur-class creatures described in the Bible, and yôm can mean eons depending on context, so it’s all in there plain as day." But because we’re ignorant, lied to, and deceived with simplistic ‘day’ and ‘whales,’ we needed to invent this absurd notion that not even the disciples of the apostles believed like Irenaeus, whose teacher Polycarp KNEW the disciples of CHRIST and sell it to battle the cult of Darwin while making Christianity look unhinged and completely insane scaring off millions from potentially following Christ. Which is exactly what it did over the last century.

If your simplistic, deceptive English Bibles said yôm everywhere day is with yôm's definition in the "notes" showing it can mean part of a day, a standard day, or vast epochs of time, you would've never thought 24 hours to begin with. And if your deceptive English Bibles properly said giant serpents and dragon-like creatures where it simplistically says "whales"; (if thats' not a deception I don't know what is) you would've known and argued that dinosaur class creatures already appear in the Bible.

To think that God created dinosaur-class creatures in yôm 5 and then humans immediately hours later in yôm 6 is laughable. Completely unhinged.

Again:

Genesis doesn’t say it.
The Hebrew doesn’t require it.
Genesis itself uses
yôm more broadly.
And Christ Himself never claimed it.

So where, exactly, did the certainty come from?

Not from Genesis.
Not from the Hebrew.
Not from Christ.

It came from a later 19th-century ignorant English interpretation and then got preached as though God Himself had said it.

End of story.

The lie is this so-called belief in an old earth...and the "bible believers" grasping onto the belief and forcing the days in Gen 1 to be considered as "eons" or what ever term one likes to use to define a long time span.....and as a result denying the biblical world wide flood flood of Noah and the catastrophic results produced by it....claiming it was "eons" that produced the geological strata and the features we see in them.

I'm not quite sure just what you're getting at here...but there were "dragons" that were contemporaneous with man prior to the flood of Noah as well as after the flood...brought through the flood on the ark that God had Noah build.
To think that God created dinosaur-class creatures in yôm 5 and then humans immediately hours later in yôm 6 is laughable. Completely unhinged.
I think your belief that a dead man could raise himself up from the grave on day 3...after suffering the death on a cross...a spear thrust into his side.....Yet can't believe that this same man who died on the cross ALSO was the creator of the earth and all that was in it. To be honest...that's unhinged. That's a pick and choose miracle bible...a bible that has been filtered through and conformed to atheistic beliefs such as the rock strata were not formed in the biblical world wide flood of Noah....but rather required these "eons" between the biblical YOMS to form.
Again:

The book of Genesis speaks in a language of time markers surrounding the word YOM during the creation period. The verses are bracketed with evening and morning....natural terms found within a 24 hour dialog that are understandable to this very day.

You just proved my point.

I never said God couldn’t create everything in six 24-hour periods. He could do it in six seconds.

So dragging the resurrection into this is irrelevant.

God’s power is not under dispute here. Your interpretation of yôm is.

And you still haven't produced the verse that says: YÔM = EXACTLY 24 HOURS.

Instead you repeat “evening and morning” as though poetic, descriptive boundary-markers somehow convert an ancient Hebrew sequence into a 24-hour stopwatch.

Then you call the old earth “the lie” because you already believe Flood geology.

Thats circular: 24-hour days > young earth > Flood geology > therefore the days must be 24 hours.

And then you say dragons were carried through the Flood on the ark.

Fine.

Book. Chapter. Verse. Please. >

Show me where Genesis says Noah loaded dinosaurs or dragons onto the ark.

And saying I've turned Genesis into "fiction" because I refuse to force yôm into your one English meaning is pure projection and beyond comical. That fiction already occurred in the 19th century and your ancestors bought it.

I’m pointing you back to the Hebrew. You’re pointing me back to a system you can’t corroborate from the text itself.

That's the difference.

You haven’t shown that Genesis requires 24 hours.

You’ve shown that your fictional 19th-century theology that doesn't actually follow the Hebrew language requires Genesis to require 24 hours.

I never said God couldn’t create everything in six 24-hour periods. He could do it in six seconds.
Where did I say Jesus couldn't have created in six 24 hour periods?

I agree. Jesus could have created in 6 seconds..or even six milli-seconds....BUT...the bible doesn't say this.

You base your definition of YOM on atheistic theory. Why should I even begin to think YOM equals "eons"?
So dragging the resurrection into this is irrelevant.
It is very relevant. You base your interpretation on what you consider as a scientific impossibility. YET you now want to believe in a scientific impossibility concerning the resurrection of Jesus.
God’s power is not under dispute here. Your interpretation of yôm is.
No, Jesus' power isn't under dispute. I simply follow what the bible tells us...following the narrative.
It is you who removes evening and morning....daily terms....from the narrative.
What you will do next is change the meaning of evening and morning to make evening and morning to mean what it doesn't mean. When you reply to tis portion of my reply you will do exactly that.

And you still haven't produced the verse that says: YÔM = EXACTLY 24 HOURS.
We do know the earth is slowing down....so it may not have been exactly 24 hours. What we do know from reading the bible is that the 24 hours can't be expanded to mean "eons".
Instead you repeat “evening and morning” as though poetic, descriptive boundary-markers somehow convert an ancient Hebrew sequence into a 24-hour stopwatch.
Evening and morning describe elements of a typical day....not eons.
A 5th grader would read Genesis and understand YOM means a 24 hour long day.
Sheeze, you would have the plants not receiving sun light for an eon....how does that work without the plants dying?
Then you call the old earth “the lie” because you already believe Flood geology.
They go hand in hand.....You deny the world wide flood based upon atheistic beliefs.
Thats circular: 24-hour days > young earth > Flood geology > therefore the days must be 24 hours.
Not quite. I say the earth was created in 6 24 hour long days...I say there was a flood that demonstrates the rock strata were deposited quickly and eons of time were not required. It's simply one evidence supporting another evidence. Evidence you apply your atheistic beliefs to and then use to deny the bible.
And then you say dragons were carried through the Flood on the ark.

Fine.

Book. Chapter. Verse. Please. >
No problem...Gen 6:19 And you are to bring two of every living creature into the ark—male and female—to keep them alive with you. 20 Two of every kind of bird and animal and crawling creature will come to you to be kept alive.

Those animals mentioned would contain "dragons".
Show me where Genesis says Noah loaded dinosaurs or dragons onto the ark.
I just did using Gen 6 in the above paragraph. Considering dinosaurs were alive at that time...as well as after the flood...they would have been brought onboard the ark. The dinosaurs would have been part of the "two of every living creature "
And saying I've turned Genesis into "fiction" because I refuse to force yôm into your one English meaning is pure projection and beyond comical. That fiction already occurred in the 19th century and your ancestors bought it.
You have turned Genesis into fiction. You base your whole argument on atheistic concepts. Then you force those theories into the bible.
I’m pointing you back to the Hebrew. You’re pointing me back to a system you can’t corroborate from the text itself.
Really? Yom contains a morning and evening...not MANY mornings and evening.
Show me how the text supports many morning and evenings?

That's the difference.

You haven’t shown that Genesis requires 24 hours.
According to you I haven't. According to your uniformitarian atheistic beliefs I haven't.
You’ve shown that your fictional 19th-century theology that doesn't actually follow the Hebrew language requires Genesis to require 24 hours.
Your very same atheistic beliefs say Jesus didn't rise from the dead...it would have been impossible...yet, for some reason you believe Jesus did.....all the while dismissing what the bible says about Jesus creating in six 24 hour long days.
Sheeze even the ten commandments confirm 6 24 hour long days...

Just so we’re all on the same page here about what you’re claiming:

Yom 1: God creates light and separates light from darkness - exactly 24 hours.

Yom 2:
God makes the expanse and separates the waters - exactly 24 hours.

Yom 3:
God brings forth dry land, seas, vegetation, seed-bearing plants and fruit trees - exactly 24 hours.

Yom 4:
God appoints the sun, moon and stars to govern day and night and mark seasons, days and years - exactly 24 hours. Of course the very celestial objects used to govern and mark "24 hours" weren’t even appointed until Yom 4, but apparently that doesn’t matter; just ignore it.

Yom 5:
God fills the seas with swarming creatures, creates the great tannînîm - great sea creatures/monsters with giant serpentine and dragon-like imagery and creates the flying creatures - exactly 24 hours.

Yom 6:
God creates the land animals, livestock, creeping things, wild beasts and finally mankind - exactly 24 hours.

So this entire staggering progression of creation supposedly occurs in six consecutive 24-hour blocks.

Fine.

But then Genesis 2:4 turns around and says: “in the yôm that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens.”

Wait a minute.

You just told me yôm means one exact 24-hour period.

Yet Genesis has just described the creation across Yom 1, Yom 2, Yom 3, Yom 4, Yom 5 and Yom 6 and then Genesis 2:4 summarizes that same creative work using the singular yôm: “in the yôm that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens.”

So apparently:

Yom 1 = 24 hours.
Yom 2 = 24 hours.
Yom 3 = 24 hours.
Yom 4 = 24 hours.
Yom 5 = 24 hours.
Yom 6 = 24 hours.

But somehow all six yôm combined together can also be, you guessed it, 24 hours!

As taught at the theological seminary of Gomer Pyle and Boss Hogg.

And spare me another ‘evening and morning’ loop. Those words mark the sequence and boundaries of each yôm; they do not tell you that each span lasted exactly 24 hours.

As Yoda said to Luke... “That... is why you fail.”

Not to mention that under this compressed reading, the animal world is barely hours old before Genesis introduces a cunning serpent “more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made” — already capable of speech, theological argument, contradicting God, and manipulating mankind into rebellion. This allegedly hours-old creature doesn't behave like newborn wildlife; it behaves like an intelligence that already knows exactly what it's doing. Apparently creation went from brand-new ecosystem to calculated deception in a matter of mere hours; before the paint was even dry.

Yep. And dragons/whales are not equivalent to "the dinosaurs" fable we've been programmed to accept as of late.

Yep, 'cause that's just what "critics" do with their license in Unorthodox Forums. They (and Yoda) have a form of godliness but are powerless; from such turn away.

Translation issue? Hebrew range? Genesis 2:4? Yeah, yeah, please shut up about all the ancient Hebrew. Let’s get back to the dragons-on-the-ark fantasy Scripture never actually states. Sure. Two 30-ton Brontosauruses on a wooden ark, heads sticking out of the sunroof, just casually bobbing along through the Flood. Of course the giant DRAGONS were down below with the chickens.

And you say I've turned Genesis into fiction?

It's staggering.

So now questioning your interpretation of a Hebrew word means I’m mocking God’s messengers and despising His Word? That’s exactly the closed loop I warned you about.

You quote 2 Chronicles 36:16 at me as though disagreement with your interpretation makes you the prophet and me the rebel under God’s wrath. Who do you think you are?

That’s astonishingly arrogant, spiritually manipulative, and exactly the kind of reasoning that makes an incorrect interpretation impossible to correct.

Sadly there are all too many pictures and toys which represent Noah's ark like that, a smallish boat with hardly enough room for two of every farm animal, let alone wild animals. Here are God's instructions to Noah for building the ark:

Gen 6:14 Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch.
Gen 6:15 And this is how you shall make it: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits.
Gen 6:16 You shall make a window for the ark, and you shall finish it to a cubit from above; and set the door of the ark in its side. You shall make it with lower, second, and third decks.

A standard cubit was about 1 foot 6 inches, so the ark would have been 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high, with three decks.

Ah, perfect. There it is... the completely unstated assumption required to rescue the completely unstated interpretation.

You couldn’t prove the first claim from the text, so you simply added a second claim you can’t prove from the text and declared the problem solved. You’ve taken an interpretation Scripture never actually states, patched the obvious absurdity with an equally unstated assumption, and then announced that I stand corrected.

At this point the argument is becoming almost impossible to parody, because every parody just turns into your next explanation.

Yes, sorry OP, but if we can’t get past giant dragons and juvenile Brontosauruses on the Ark without inventing details the text never gives us, how can we possibly have a serious discussion about aliens?

You have probably already heard about the release of classified documents and alleged photographs about aliens.

I have noticed that there are a lot of atheists who seem to think that this somehow "proves" that Christianity is made-up and they are only basing this on the fact that aliens are not mentioned in the Bible.

I have seen a few of these phots and they are nothing more than weird looking aircraft, shapes and lights in the skies. There is even one that looks like a piece of CGI from the 1990s.

I don't really believe any of this. If this were real, are these some kind of fallen angels? Signs Jesus is coming back soon?

What are your thoughts?

Yes that is my conclusion. I was super into UFOs as a kid, during the height of Steven Spielburgs "Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind" and a teenager during ET. But I was fortunate after briefly leaving Christianity in my high school and college years to run across Christian Apologist Hugh Ross in 1990. Ross spends most of his time dealing with Atheistic Evolution, but he was the first one to make an elaborate empirical case that the UFO beings and their craft are not Exterrestials, and they completely fit the Fallen Angels paradigm of things.

I asked Grok to give me a one page Summary of Ross' s presentation

"Hugh Ross’s case is set out mainly in Lights in the Sky & Little Green Men (2002, with Kenneth Samples and Mark Clark) and restated in later interviews. He does not treat every light in the sky as a demon. He treats a thin residual as the activity of fallen angels.

Ross came to the subject unwillingly. As an astronomer he was the person universities handed UFO reports to. On his count, about 99 percent of what people report is ordinary: planets, meteors, aircraft, balloons, hoaxes, or classified military craft. What remains after those filters he calls residual UFOs (RUFOs). Those cases, he argues, are real in the sense that they disturb people, animals, instruments, and ground, yet they leave no artifacts and break the rules that govern physical craft.

The residual pattern is what rules out visitors from another star system. Objects are reported to accelerate instantly, turn at right angles, appear and vanish, and show up on radar without being seen, or be seen without showing up on radar. Alleged landings scorch vegetation or mark soil and then yield no wreckage. Close encounters produce burns, temporary blindness, internal effects, and lasting psychological harm. Ross’s stronger claim is qualitative: he knows of no documented close encounter that left the contactee better off. The best outcome, on his reading, is recurring nightmares; worse cases end in trauma or suicide. Crews also do not behave like explorers. Their astronomy is wrong, their technology tracks whatever humans currently find impressive, and when they communicate they promote a religious message hostile to the deity of Christ. His stock example is the Urantia Book, produced by trance channeling and treated as scripture in several UFO religions, a large share of which denies that Jesus is God.

That profile, for Ross, matches one class of being already described in Scripture. God made two kinds of intelligent creatures: humans, bound by the physics and dimensions of this universe, and angels, who are not. Angels can enter the earthly realm and appear in whatever form suits the occasion. Fallen angels retain that freedom and use it to deceive and injure. Jacques Vallée’s interdimensional reading and J. Allen Hynek’s comparison of residual cases to poltergeist effects are, on this view, secular descriptions of the same intrusion. Ross’s chapter summary is blunt: only one kind of being prefers the dead of night and lonely roads, is real but nonphysical, is powerful and deceptive across cultures and centuries, and is bent on psychological and physical harm. Only one selectively approaches people involved in cultic, occult, or New Age practice. Residual UFOs, “in one or more ways, must be associated with the activities of demons.”

He adds a pastoral correlation. Encounters cluster among people who have dabbled in the occult or have a close relative who has. Raise the occult involvement and the encounters increase; shut those practices down and, he says, the encounters stop. Forms vary — saucer, humanoid, dead relative, folklore creature — because the point is the deception, not the costume. The test he cites is 1 John 4: do not believe every spirit; test them. A message that denies Christ’s deity fails that test whether it arrives by trance or by alleged spacecraft.
The scientific half of the case is negative. Reasons to Believe’s position is that the universe is finely tuned for life, but intelligent life elsewhere is not evidenced, and the engineering barriers to interstellar travel are severe. A civilization that could cross those barriers would not need to mime 1950s saucers, avoid leaving hardware, and spend its contact time undermining the incarnation. The residual is therefore better explained as supernature counterfeiting nature than as biology from another planet.

Ross is careful about the mechanism. Sometimes the residual object may be the fallen angel manifesting. Sometimes the disturbance may be visionary or psychological, induced in a person already opened to occult contact. Sometimes the effect may run through oppression or possession. The common thread is malevolent, extra-dimensional agency, not a crash-retrieval program. The practical conclusion in the book is that the defense has to match the attack: renounce the occult invitations, and trust the greater power God supplies in Christ rather than techniques borrowed from the phenomenon itself."

1. Sure... Noah could've taken juvenile dinosaurs. He could’ve had a T. rex and the dragon from The Hobbit on board too.

But Genesis doesn’t say any of that.

You’ve changed the standard from “What does God’s Word say?” to “What can I imagine might have happened?”

Those are not the same thing.

2. I’m not disputing that forms of the tannîn/dragon class and humans lived together. What you keep missing is that Genesis doesn't present the nonhuman world as merely mute, stupid farm animals in “dinosaur” bodies.

The Eden nāḥāš belongs to the biblical serpent/dragon complex that later Scripture develops more explicitly, and Genesis describes that creature as “more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made” and already capable of speech, theological argument, contradicting God, reasoning about His command, and manipulating mankind into rebellion.

So by God’s own Word, humanity did not enter a world occupied only by mindless animals. There was already a nonhuman serpent intelligence present, functioning with language, reasoning, deception, and knowledge of God - capable of outmaneuvering and manipulating mankind at the very dawn of human history.

That's what's in the text... Juvenile Brontosauruses on the Ark are not.

3. I don’t need the Noah JPG to prove the point. It simply strips the interpretation of its protective language and forces you to look at what's actually being claimed once all the unstated assumptions are dragged into the light.

The picture is absurd because the explanation is absurd.

The image didn’t create the problem; it exposed what was already hiding inside the interpretation.
