The pope is kissing a false image of Christ. He's burning incense to a corrupt image of Mary. What do you call that if it's not idolatry?

Show me from the scriptures where this kind of behavior is acceptable.
I already DID.
I showed you where God ordered Moses to make 2 large golden cherubim to place atop the Ark - and the people BOWED and prayed before it.
I showed you where Solomon placed large statues in the Temple and even in the Holy of Holies, where the priests BOWED face-down to the floor.

Your debating skills are pathetic because you desperately ignore the evidence that debunks your position - hoping that it will just "go away" . . .

A statue is a work of art - nothing more, nothing less.
Here's what the Lord thinks of your work of art.

Romans 1
22 Professing to be wise, they became fools,
23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man..

God thinks your images of Jesus are corrupt.

Where does it say that??
It says is that we are not to REPLACE images for God.

Do you have a reading problem??

Is that image really Jesus?
No - it's an image.
An image is a representation - so how is it "False"??

Is the picture on your driver's license a "False" image??
It's not really YOU, is it??

Here's a little Bible lesson from an educated Catholic:
An image is simply a representation - a likeness.
An idol is an image that is worshiped as a god.

Got it now, sparky?

You should ask your handlers if they would show you how to read and interpret scripture.

But it's name is Jesus. Is that what Jesus really looks like?
The TITLE of a painting is simply a description, Einstein.

Is your driver's licence actually YOU??
It has your name on it so it MUST be - right??

First of all - I don't have any "handlers."
That aside - I interpret Scripture ALL the time - and it's always in communion with Church teaching.

YOU, on the other hand are described in Scripture:
2 Pet. 3:16
He (Paul) writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

It looks exactly like me. Like I was looking in a mirror.

The question I asked was "Does that image you call Jesus look exactly like the real Jesus?" If not, then you're honoring a false image of God. A corrupt image of the incorruptible God.

It's a representation. It doesn't need to look exactly like the real Jesus.

Doesn't matter. It's NOT you, is it??
The fact that you have it in your wallet and that you use it to represent yourself is idolatry by your OWN warped standard.

That's a LIE.

In post #365 - YOU said the following:
"Is that image really Jesus?"

You need to stop lying and start telling the truth for a change.

And that's what makes it wrong. It's a false image of God.

It's representation. To quote post #355

A representation is by definition not the thing itself. It represents something.
It cannot be "false", it cannot be "corrupt"

Idolatry is worshipping an idol and that is not what is going on.

How do YOU now what Jesus "really" looks like?
How do YOU know that the artists hasn't seen Him?

What about the picture on your driver's license?
Is that YOU - or just a representation of you??

Getting kinda nit picky there. Settle down.

Either that image looks exactly like Jesus or it doesn't. When I asked if that image was really Jesus, I was asking if that was a true depiction of His appearance.

Get it?

No - that's not what you said.
Besides - how do you know He really doesn't look like that to the artist?

Besides - I'm not getting "nit-picky" - I just LOVE debunking and exposing anti-Catholics.
So far - you've done nothing by lie and back-pedal. Try having an honest conversation for a change . . .

What do you call asking inanimate objects to speak for you? Talking to something that couldn't possibly hear you. What do you call that?
