I was brought up a Catholic !

Went to the school, for 6 years......

Never felt saved..... All we used was prayer books and rosary's ! No bibles were used
back then..... I guess they do now ?
My parents were brought up also Catholic. And brother and sister..... And my husband
They are all dead now.

As a catholic we had to go to the priest and confess our sins and then they were forgiven.
My husband and I brought up 2 of our children catholic but the last one I did not
send to religion classes. Just to Mass, and that was in Latin and we of course did not
know Latin.
Any way our older son got saved by a friend bringing him to his church. And not long after we all got saved..... Our sons now preach once in a while.
It feels so good to finally be saved. And to know my husband is now in heaven.

I do not know if my parents or brother and sister are... They stayed Catholic

Yes that is how man teaches in the catholic church. Tell them something they dont understand makes sence/ This is how you rob people of there money. Jesus says you have need of NO MAN I will teach you all things. I am sure your brother and sister are saved even if they stayed catholic, God looks at the heart not the miseaching wqe all got catholic or protestant. The traditional churchs are so far from truth its unbelievable.

a pretty altered version, but yes. Nice to get some independent confirmation @ "no Bibles in the RCC" though.

Best wishes on your renewed walk, you might examine this "finally saved" concept a bit further, as well as the "people in heaven now" bit, but Scripture is a great Guide there, you'll find it if you keep looking.

I never felt saved, so I do not know if my parents or brother or sister were.
They were Catholic also, but started out at a different Catholic church.....

Our children did not either at first , till we went to a bible church............ sooooooooo having a bible and some one talking to
the church members in English ........ made a difference. Mass was in Latin.
And not having a bible in the church was not good.......... I am told they do now use bibles........... GOOD!

I'm only 10 years younger than you. I had a Bible at secondary school. It was compulsory for Religious Education lessons.

We had Mass books with 2 columns: left hand side - Latin; right hand side - English, so you could follow the Mass if you wanted to.

The Mass in English started in 1969, almost 50 years ago. You would only have been 35.

You were saved when you were baptised a Catholic whether you "felt" saved or not.
All the churches around here were the same......... No bible ! And no one was told to use one !

I had relative's at other church's and they preached the same stuff......
They had us use some other kind of book ....... nothing like the bible. [ in the class rooms.} At church we were to use a prayer
book.... and rosary for other services..... I do not want to argue with you on this and I do not want to tell you some thing
that did not happen. It did. And now I am asking some of the younger friends, and they are telling me things did change,
but years later.......

NO ........... You are not !
Eph.2:
8
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9
Not of works, lest any man should boast

What do you think the Cross was all about ? For our sins......... and till you understand all of that you are not saved.

JESUS went to the cross for us........ HE did not have to do this. But did it for us.......!

you aren't saved yet according to Scripture, and i would not be letting any religious guy tell you that you are either. Protestants might take you a little further, but there are more rungs on that ladder ok. Religion is not the way to God, and this is made clear in many passages, when you read.

NO ........... You are not !

Yes you are.
Eph.2:
8

Absolutely. I agree with that.
And it is in Baptism that we are given that grace.

9
Not of works, lest any man should boast

Absolutely, I agree with that.

What do you think the Cross was all about ? For our sins......... and till you understand all of that you are not saved.

The cross is about making provision for our salvation.

JESUS went to the cross for us........ HE did not have to do this. But did it for us.......!

I agree. And in doing so he made provision for our salvation.

Here are a couple of Bible verses to consider.

Peter says about Noah and his family being saved through water. "This prefigured baptism, which saves you now" (1Pet 3:20-21).
Get that? Baptism saves you now.

Jesus said "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved" (Mk 16:16).[/quote]

amen to that; even if it was more like a desperation move by the RCC

Desperation?

It was the Catholic Church that gave you the Bible in the first place.

It was the Catholic Church that was translating the Bible into vernacular languages over a 1,000 years before Luther.
