Regarding the Holy Spirit and His gifts I believe...

Rearding the baptism of the Holy Spirit, spiritual gifts and some other things I believe;

  • 1. Yes, I know this is for today and all gifts including tongues, are yet given to believers.

  • 2. There is no secondary experience from God once you truly become a Christian.

  • 3. Those who speak in tongues are completely deceived, this is not from God at all.

  • 4. Spiritual gifts, including tongues passed away after the time of the apostles ended

  • 5. Those lacking baptism in the Holy Spirit lack God's anointing and power

  • 6. My denominations teaching on this is true. Baptism in the Holy Spirit is not for now.

  • 7. Jesus no longer speaks directly to believers, only through the scripture

  • 8. Miracles of healing are not for today, modern medicine and doctors are our means of healing

  • 9. Much of the bible is allegorical and never really happened.

  • 10. I am a Christian but Jesus Christ is not God Almighty

Mark 16:16-18
v-16 He who believe's and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned!
v-17 "And these SIGNS will follow those WHO BELIEVE; IN MY NAME they will cast out demons; THEY will SPEAK with NEW TONGUES;
v-18 They will take up Serpent's; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; They will LAY HANDS on the Sick, and they will recover
The Last Word's before He Our Savior was Received up into Heaven, and Sat down at the Right Hand of God! {RED LETTER"S}

Acts 2:38-39---- Day of Pentecost
v-38 Then Peter said to them, Repent, and let every one of you be Baptized in the Name of Yeshua [Jesus] for the remission of sins; and YOU shall receive the Gift of the Holy Spirit.
v-39 For the Promise is to YOU and YOUR CHILDREN, and to ALL who are Afar off, as Many as the Lord Our God will Call
This was all fulfilled in the first century. Today people mimic the gifts but the gifts expired with the Apostles who distributed them. All believers have the Baptism in the Holy Spirit.

Were you taught your beliefs? Or did you first see them in scripture and then find a church that came close to matching them?

Jesus came and saved me. I didn't know what that was. Then he baptized me in his Holy Spirit giving at the same time the gift of tongues and I didn't know what that was. All outside of churches. You couldn't drag me to a church. No, I was not talking to any Christian or group or listening to any TV preachers. Jesus just did it. We live in a rural area far from towns. He came to the wilderness and convicted me and I was ignorant not understanding why I didn't want to do all the sinning of my past years. I was 33.

I found later that others had been praying for me.

No one told me anything about God especially his love. Married 14 years, my wife could not have children, medically proven. Her body killed my sperm on contact. Doctors said they could do nothing. Jesus told us he was sending us a son. We suffered many things first.

Praying in tongues at home two years later he gave me the interpretation saying he had fulfilled his promise. We put our son's name in a baby book and he, was born 9 months later. He is 38 now.

I need no denomination, or seminary or sect or guru to teach me. 1john 2:27 says so.

I started out with God alone and will carry on with him. All I'm doing is, telling what he's done for my family in light of the Scriptures. We, follow God not man.

Witnessing to a Jew, Daniel E., He asked me what denomination I was. I told him I was a Christian and that Jesus had come and fetched me. Later Daniel became a born again Christian and was past president of the governor's prayer breakfast.

I am a witness of Jesus Christ - not some movement, religion, denomination or sect.

I see the Scriptures as He revealed them to me and have walked the truth of them. I've buried my children and raised them in the fear, nurture and admonition of the lord. I will allow Him to work in me as He has and will not be turned aside by any.

Did anyone coach you on how to speak in tongues? Did you understand what you were saying?

No. I was building a room on our home and was in the attic working and praying. No man put his hands on me. At first I often said a word in my prayer language that I knew not. YESH-ua. I found later it was the word for Jesus. I pray in tongues daily as does my wife, son and daughter. Sometimes he gives me the interpretations. Words of comfort, exhortation and direction.

I've always been a loner not trusting groups - I'm not a joiner and make few associations. Later God told me to prophesy and I did so in different churches, we attended. Many churches went the way of the word of faith/prosperity cults so we abandoned them.

We seek God not man for our direction.

This is fine, but the original tongue speakers knew what they were saying. And it was spontaneous, not conjured up.

:D

you do too, i mean nobody wanted to eat any ol' stinky garlic to avoid the flu, you may as well have been speaking Greek right

Never did get it. :) for real though … how many times now have you been told you speak gibberish?

I guess every one has an opinion on the gift of tongues. The majority rules, right. So I guess man has his definition. But consider the eunuch hands over a book(the word of God) that was foreign and not of this world: to Philip, and asks Philp to "translate"...and Philip teaches of Christ and is (literally)translated(transferred) to another place.

You have some knowlege but not all understanding regarding this gift. Refer to Jude.

Tongues are a multi faceted tool. Primarily for building up of the user. See Jude. I Corin 14:4, Isaiah 28:12

For speaking to God NOT men 1corinthians 14:2

Also Isaiah 28:11-12

Also for interpretation in an assembly
1 Corinthians 12:10

Also for intercessory prayer see Job 32:18-20. I walk in this and have for decades

Not to be forbidden 1 Corinthians 14:39

Paul spoke in tongues more than the others OUTSIDE of church. 1corinthians 14:18,19

Prayer in the spirit, praying in the Holy Ghost, prayer in tongues, speaking in tongues are all synonymous.
Tongues may be unknown to us but not to God. Tongues of men and of angels. We may recognize some language - tongue- of men but not those of angels

Rejection foretold

Isaiah 28:11-12 KJVS
For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. [12] To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

lol, my whole life, pretty much
I guess every one has an opinion on the gift of tongues.
i used to myself, yes
The majority rules, right.
so they say, lol
But consider the eunuch hands over a book(the word of God) that was foreign and not of this world:
um, ya. Not to keep beating a dead horse here, but when you...disambiguate the two, the opinions go away i guess.
We do not have access to the Book of Truth, which is Word
But consider the eunuch hands over a book(the word of God) that was foreign and not of this world: to Philip, and asks Philp to "translate"...and Philip teaches of Christ and is (literally)translated(transferred) to another place.
never thought of it that way, nice imo! i'll have to go re-read now

In My Opinion, You Deny the Very Words that Our Savior Spoke in Mark 16:16-18!!!! All those that believe, IN MY NAME! not just Apostles.
