Revelation: Technology and the Mark of the Beast

The mark of the beast is a symbol. If you do not grasp this, you could end up wearing it unknowingly.
Notice the mark is a symbol for allegiance:
“And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:” (Revelation 13:16)
Compare with:
“And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.” (Revelation 14:1)
It says that "he" subjected them to RECEIVE a mark. That doesn't sound symbolic, it sounds like a literal thing that is being given.

The entire book of Revelation is symbolic. If you look for the symbol to apprear, you will never see it. If you look for what the symbol represents, you can see it in history, in the present, and also know what to expect in the future.
If we read "newspaper" ideas into Revelation, we add to the book which John warns against.
It's not reading ideas into it, it's interpreting it. But I'll respect that.
The problem is, who would receive the mark nowadays after all the rapture hoopla, if it was literal? Many no doubt looking for a literal beast and mark already wear it unknowingly, and have done so in the past.

Because they wouldn't be able to live and provide for their family if they don't? This isn't a problem for the theory. Mark my words: There will be a literal mark. The technology exists or will exist soon.
And presuming that you are correct and it is a very literal implant for each of us. What happens to the guy who gets it done before he knows God and then he gets converted?
The mark = patriotic mindset to an evil totalitarian regime that persecutes and kills non compliant Christians. Find this in history and you will see the beast and his mark.

That's clearly not true. What if a father had to pay for medicine for their sick child? The only way to buy/sell is to take the mark. Situations like this would be rampant. Many will take it because they reject Christ already, so why would they relegate themselves to being unable to function in modern society by embracing Christ and rejecting the mark when they are already atheist? There will be many who enter this global system by taking the mark.

there will be ezackly zero of these, i am pretty sure,
mostly bc this is what pretty much everyone believes;
that someone who isn't them would actually knowingly take the mark
Recently we saw this in America. The Obama administration passed sinful laws that people could not buy or sell unless they complied with them. Since the laws only affected a small segment, Christian businesses that catered to weddings and the like, people took little notice. But the Christian bakers and wedding host could not operate unless they complied. So in this case, those favoring the laws received the mark. And those who resisted them did not.
But this is the case throughout history, ever since Nero and the Papacy, Christians suffered and died from not receiving the mark
