okay,I am curious about something...... this is mainly a USA forum, yet I never saw any prayer requests about the recent fires in California - I see there was a post about the elections there, but nothing more- why?
Was it because it was such a big thing that everyone presumed everyone would pray ?
I understand that there are still loads of people missing, I think the last news report said over 1,000- is that still the case ?
Lord I pray for all those impacted by the recent fires, all those who have lost so very much, I pray for those searching for people. May you enable communities to come together, to unite , to work together to deal with all the rippling effects and emotions of loss. Thankyou that you draw near to the broken hearted. X

Hi Sister Butterfly (Rita, also my sister's name), I personally pray for our nation in all situations including need, but I mainly post prayers on personal requests from our brethren.

The following instruction should be in our regular requests to our LORD.

I Tim 2:1 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people — for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
1 Tim 2:2. (Pray) For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Eze 22:29 The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully.
Eze 22:30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. (We should continue to pray for all people? Yes!)

Blessings in Christ Jesus.

Thank you!

My wife and I recently bought a home in the Paradise, CA area as a part of our retirement plans. We had not moved in yet and are praising God for all he has done for us. In the process of making our plans and purchase we prayed daily for months and each step was confirmed in a multitude of ways that only God could bring to pass. But a fire storm in Paradise, beginning the very morning we began to pack our first box, with plans to go there for the weekend? That was quite unsettling!

Later that morning a neighbor, a Christian we happen to meet the very day we got the keys - God is so great! Get this. That first day of getting the keys finished at sundown after a series of little God-moments of confirmation, as that neighbor and his wife walked by. We were in the front yard as it was getting dark and they stopped to ask us if we were the new neighbors. In minutes we new they were Christians and had a great welcome and wonderful conversation - their names? Amen and Amanda...or, as the perfect finish to our day with God - Amen and Amen - duh!

Anyway, the neighbor called the morning of the fire and apologized, saying he tried to save our home but had to run for his life, and he was sure he was unsuccessful, as he was driven off by a gust of heat, smoke, and flames heading directly toward the propane tank. He and his neighbor were at their own homes watering things down and packing some things after sending their wives and children on ahead to evacuate when another neighbor came frantically yelling to go now, that the fire was at the other end of the street at our place. They decided to see if they could lend a hand and perhaps preemptively keep the fire from coming as far as their own homes. They tried but then had to flea.

For two days, according to their experience and description, we thought the whole neighborhood went up in flames. Then Cal Fire put out a Structure Status map online...and lo and behold - ours did not burn! But get this:

My wife's women's group had been studying Nehemiah about rebuilding the Temple, and had been praying for our house. My wife shared the news that our home was okay, and one of the gal's eyes lit up, and said, "I had a vision of us gals standing around your house and praying over it, and the houses on both sides burned but not yours. I shared it with my elderly mother, but not with you all, because then I heard that it had burned. I was confused and felt bad that I had shared it with my mom. But this is great - my vision was not wrong!" And there is more... The map shows that just as she described, all the houses on either side of ours burned. But not only was ours not destroyed, but in the shadow of that rush of wind and our house, that our neighbor thought was sure destruction - seven more homes were saved...and down at the end of the street - the two neighbors houses that came to help...they were spared too!

True story.

We don't know what the future holds for us, but we are praising God - prayer works!

Please continue to pray.

Many people pray about many things without feeling the necessity to post about it. Many prayers go up without having to be prompted by a call for prayer.

Though they may not know it God is tapping California on the shoulder. An exodus from that place has been underway for awhile.

Is it a mere coincidence that one natural tragedy after another visits california? Other states have not been afflicted even a fraction as much.

For the land has become defiled, therefore I have brought its punishment upon it, so the land has spewed out its inhabitants.
Leviticus 18:25 NASB

Yes, many pray for that place and it's inhabitants but not only for material assistance.

My daughter and her husband had a home in Rockport, Tx and out of the blue decided to sell the home. They put it on the market. Within a month it sold. A month later it was completely destroyed by the Hurricane Harvey.

The buyer bought it as an investament, and noone was living in the home at the time.

True story. God is mysterious in how He guides us.

Hey there Rita .

Dave and I have been praying for our many friends in Paradise CA.
One couple...we have known them for about 40 + years...( when we were all in community :) in the 70's )
Their home has totally gone.
On facebook she put a photo up of her wonderful house with flowers , trees and garden. Next to it she has ...NOTHING .....a photo of burned earth and a pile of ashes. Their son and family lived a few streets away there in Paradise...his house has gone...along with everyone else in Paradise. :(
Connie and Tom do have a big Camper Van fully equipped...so they do have accommodation and are safe..but they along with everyone else has lost everything.

In the photo's of her lovely house and garden, the forrest comes right up behind. = the reason why everyone lost everything.

"Tree huggers" never want all trees cut down ( for safety ) ...there have always been warnings....obviously always ignored.
Canada logs heavily and tried to keep the forrest back away from the towns.
The media got mad at Trump because he dare to say that if they had "managed" the forests ( logged the trees) it would have been much safer. But, as you know, "save the trees" always wins the day.
And people have paid the price with their LIVES!! Very sad.
Hugs...H x

Our God is able in all situations. We must trust Him even when we seemingly lose what we have in the material world. Sometimes however as we see God blesses us beyond measure. We are blessed yet what was that the man Jesus retained? And how was it that he prayed?

"And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt." Matt 26"39

God always knows exactly what we need and sometimes He allows us to pay a price which is costly although we may not understand it. We need to continue praying but not necessarily for the blessing... although we may receive one, but pray always for any required understanding when we simply cannot see.

What is our end to be? God knows!
Give God always the glory!

Hi, Rita, I've been praying for the people of California affected by the fires and smoke. My family lost our home when the housing bubble burst (2011), and we have never completely recovered. We've experienced a lot of other tragedies after that, including the death of my mom and husband in a few short years. My heart goes out to those who have lost so much--esp. those who have lost loved ones! I will continue praying!!!

That's interesting! I grew up in a city close to Rockport.

Their place was on a little peninsula, called Key Allegro. It was hit hard. We had stayed for awhile in Aransas Pass, but left before Harvey and went back to sell our sailboat that was moored in Corpus Christi Bay at the city Marina. We were lucky our boat was fine through the hurricane, a few boats were damaged there, and a couple sunk. Some friends had moved their boats TO Rockport, thinking it would be safer then the Bay, and their boats were destroyed.

God Bless,

Truth be known, there's also a certain amount of desensitization that goes on, Butterfly. California has thousands of wildfires every year because it's a state extremely prone to them. It's just more rare when a lot of people die from them. But they happen every year, and it's a combination of three main factors: A short rainy season, large amounts of forestation, and regions with high winds.

map-what-causes-california-wildfires-700x716.gif

After awhile you start thinking it "just comes with the territory" and they're dealing with it. Until something really bad happens. In the South, we have hurricane season every year and the same phenomenon happens. The weather channel starts reporting that a hurricane is coming and then everyone gets alarmed, especially if it looks like it will be really bad. And because of people's prayers, I think it's the main reason why many that are projected to be category 4 or 5 just fizzle out before making landfall. But then there will be the one that nobody sees coming; maybe it's not projected to be all that bad, so few pray over, and people know it is coming but they've seen so many amount to nothing that they decide not to worry. And because they don't want to leave their homes they decide to stay put. And then that one turns out to be the deadly one.

I think most Americans probably just heard, "Oh, yeah. Another California wildfire" and just assumed nothing would come of it. But this time it took a lot of lives. Americans are generally a praying people when it comes to national tragedies and such, and also very good about donating to the unfortunate after things like this happen. But I think much of it could just be chalked up to desensitization, and letting our guards down.

STOP YOUR POSTS.
ThIS IS A PRAYER BOARD. And you are obviously NOT a Christian , so it is you who are the liar.

LoL. He's not only "not a Christian," he's a satanist. That link is to Joy of Satan Ministries.

Not sure what he was hoping to accomplish by it, but at least he blessed us with a happy looking avatar : ) I guess an inverted pentagram might have given off the "wrong" impression, LoL.

Thank you for the responses, Scott what an amazing testimony X
I was only curious because I had observed previous threads about hurricanes, elections ect, so it just surprised me that no one started a thread about the fires xx
