When understood, tongues were God's word. But to the wicked unbelieving Jews, they were OT jargon for looming judgement.
Even when not understood in the mind, they were still God's word to the spirit.

I referred you to two SCRIPTURES!!!
No, they are DOING what the Word says. Things you won't do out of ignorance.
37 If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord. 38 But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant.39 Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues. 40 Let all things be done decently and in order.
And Paul was addressing his present audience in the 2nd person plural. Not us which would be 3rd person plural.I referred you to two SCRIPTURES!!!
Dave is saying that the person speaking in tongues understands what he is saying - the opposite of what Scripture says. He twists the Scriptures to try to say something it doesn't. That is a Leviathan spirit at work - the twisting serpent.
They didn't edify unless understood.Even when not understood in the mind, they were still God's word to the spirit.
I'm only showing that tongues today are not genuine.Yes, I agree.

Wow! You really don't know what you are talking about, but you think you do.And Paul was addressing his present audience in the 2nd person plural. Not us which would be 3rd person plural.

If they were genuine we wouldn't be having this discussion.Yes, they are, but you've twisted scripture so it doesn't resemble what is happening today.
To share with the church. You are trying to show that. But you are not able to show that by the Scripture. Again, what need would there be for a gift of interpretation of tongues if the one speaking in tongues knew what he was saying?

Regardless, who among us pushes people away from the bible? And who pushes them to the bible?Yes, they are, but you've twisted scripture so it doesn't resemble what is happening today.
You are the unbeliever the sign of tongues is for. The mocker.
To share with the church.
Regardless, who among us pushes people away from the bible? And who pushes them to the bible?
What good were tongues if only the speaker understood and not the church? Now you try and dismiss what the Scripture says by your lame one liners. This does not address what you or I were talking about. You are being deceptive in your answers.
You cannot prove what you want by the Scripture. Now you turn to deception. That should tell you something.

You say scripture does not furnish us with what we need. And that God speaks apart from scripture. When scripture says it thoroughly furnishes us.Who confirms the Bible and does what it says, and who doesn't believe much of what is in the New Testament?
