God will only confirm through another something he has already placed in your heart. The ignorant are taken captive by those with a false word.

Once the Lord gave me a dream after a fast. In it a giant bear was about to devour me. I had a white skin about me that was the righteousness of salvation. The bear turned and walked away.

At church that night in our prayer room I was on my knees praying and another brother was there praying. After awhile he got up and came over to me. He started prophesying and first he said "I have kept you from the bear".

I had not told anyone of the dream so I knew this was the Lord. I listened carefully to the rest of the message which confirmed what was already in my heart.

I get a lot of weird dreams; the themes are familiar, often, but the sequences are all muddled...

Jesus promised if we would pray and fast in secret he would reward us openly. For a long time after I was saved and baptized in the Holy Spirit the Lord would give me a dream the after ending a fast. They were all wonderful and insightful. Some were fearsome but he was, showing me truths and burning them in my heart. The great iron jaws as I call it was the most fearful dream that he ever gave telling of two men that were gobbled up by the jaws of hell.

Everything he gives is for a reason. For us and for those we can teach with it.

To be honest, I do concentrate on what the Word says directly rather than on my dream content.

The word says directly:

Acts 2:17 KJVS
And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

However He speaks I want to hear. Encouragement, instruction, correction, guidance, anything can be conveyed by God in any manner he chooses. Yes, it will always agree with the Scriptures. God does not give dreams and visions for entertainment.

I don't think that the Acts quote (or its Joel antecendent) is about the church in its position of having the entire Word of God now revealed. There was of course a strong Jewish background to the transitional period in Acts.

We probably look at this differently.

We probably look at this differently.

This is my entire theology coupled to the understanding Jesus has given me of scriptures that have come alive over these years of four decades.

Acts 4:20 KJVS
For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard. Truly the Bible is the massive elephant and we have grabbed the tail.

The reason I never never read commentaries etc is that ten thousand authors have written the definitive work on ten thousand subjects... All in raging conflict.

The word is indescribably living, it is really Jesus.

Matthew 13:52 KJVS
Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.

I'm still a student and not a master. If I can strive to maintain a humble spirit before Him then he will tell me other things.

Praise or rebuke anything heard from the Lord in whatever manner he sends it is a blessing. If he wants to send Balaam's mule with a message for me then let the braying begin!

Well that is up to Him, but He certainly doesnt have to agree with ones Interpretation of scripture, and that is where the trouble begins, as was put to me today, the bible has become something of a Golden Calf to many. Funny thing when I discussed it with Pia her face lit up as He had just shown her the same thing, love it when things are confirmed.

yep because
Act_2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
Act_2:18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy

but again

Luk 7:31 And the Lord said, Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like?
Luk 7:32 They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept.
Luk 7:33 For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil.
Luk 7:34 The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!
Luk 7:35 But wisdom is justified of all her children.

but all i hear, is the voice of the devil, the lawyers, the religious, the pharisees, the hypocrites even Jezebel shouting ever the louder. Do not go to Christ do not have faith, you cannot believe God, you musnt listen to Him, you have your golden calf, the bible, worship it, and men do.

bus as happened at His baptism

Mat_17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

and again at teh transfiguration

Mar 9:7 And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

but men like you still refuse to listen, and again

Heb_4:7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

but the devil has heardened mens hearts and they will not listen.
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Timothy 3:16–17) (KJV 1900)

“For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.” (2 Peter 1:17–20) (KJV 1900)

But you reject God's word and say scripture is not sufficient. And that extra biblical voices are better when Peter says God speaking vocally to them on the mount of transfiguration did not measure up to the reliability of scripture.

Yw. Ah, yes indeed-...do unto others!
And, many, many times Gramma does NOT want to go to a home AT ALL. I myself, would NEVER want to be a burden...put my butt in a home! If I still have my mind about me, I would have fun and make it fun for others as best I could.
What if Gramma has vascular dementia and would rather DIE than go into a home? Not so easy when they still have enough of a mind left to know the difference :/
Soooo-we wait for that door to open and, believe that His grace is, indeed sufficient ♥
If you would want others to put you in a home if you were out of your mind, then do the same.

I noticed that Paul was given a vision and dream to go to Europe instead of Asia. (Acts 16:9) And prior to that, the disciples were forbidden to take the Word into Asia and Bitihnynia. (Acts 16:6-7) Makes you wonder how they were forbidden.

So, Paul, who had the unction from God to go to the Gentiles, and was given a vast amount of revelation from God, still received the leading of the Holy Spirit and vision and dream as a method to lead him.

Paul was an apostle and a prophet. He wrote much of the NT. If tongues and prophecy are for today, scripture is still being written.

Strange, Cornelius was not an apostle or a prophet. (Acts 10:1-3)

You say if tongues and prophecy are for today then scripture is still being written. Chapter and verse.

The gifts ceased with the apostles who apart from the two outpourings, distributed them by their hands. All claims to the gifts today are false.

You neglect my comment on Cornelius which disproves your statement in (152). Why?

Yes, you already said that, to which I asked, chapter and verse? To which you ignored.

Prove from scripture the gifts came about in any other way besides the two outpourings or through an apostles hands.

You made the statement first to which I asked chapter and verse. What is the matter? You don't have chapter and verse? Where have you been getting your information...extra biblical sources?

You cannot prove something that is not there. So your refusal to accept the challenge proves I'm right.

You said the gifts ceased with the apostle's. (1 Cor. 12-14) shows the existence now of the gifts. So, show me in Scripture where they have ceased.

It is not I that is refusing to answer, it is you.

And I haven't forgot your statement that Paul received visions and dreams as he was a prophet and an apostle. To which I showed you that Cornelius was not, yet he received vision from the Holy Spirit. How did that happen?

Christs last words on earth...

15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. - Mark 16

The new tongues are for those who believe.
