The Bible paints as clear a picture of the New Jerusalem as we are capable of understanding on this earth.

Technology? Absolutely not and absolutely no need.

You're trying to envision Jerusalem in terms of this earth now. Forget that.

Streets of gold and foundations of precious gems. 12 gates each made out of one Pearl each, Inconceivable to us.

Not everything on earth is sinful. There will be some elements from here that continue on into the next age I think. I've heard some people argue that technology isn't sinful in and of itself, so perhap....personally I think it takes the mystery and fun out of it abit. Perhaps we could keep modern plumbing?

Not everything is sinful, but everything is corrupted and has been since the earth was rendered shapeless employees as indicated in Genesis.

The next age is the millennial kingdom, with the Tribulation Period being between the rapture and the MK. God will change many things but it is still prior to the destruction of this heavens and earth.

Who's up for some wild speculation? My kids often like thinking about what they'll be doing in eternity, so will often have our family talking about it.

Yeah, it's fun and rewarding albeit difficult to try and picture what the new heavens and new earth will be like. The bible mentions that everyone in heaven will belong to everyone else, so this makes me think that we will not have the same communicative barriers that we have here. We are limited in our expression of self and our experiences now, but when Christ, who is our life, comes, we will appear with him and we will be as he is. We will know one another better than we know our closest friends and family.

The whole topic is great and makes me wish I were more imaginative! I wrote this a little while ago

"Remember when we were younger, much younger as a child, when we could meet other children and befriend them without effort and go on forging the world around us by our imaginations, each one freely building upon the last, continuously, joyously, before the ego would spring up a barrier to protect itself and its worldly gain from the liberation we would all experience without it?

Well, I disagree with the food thing. Not about the weeds and such, the hardship of 'bringing food forth' shall be gone! But back in the garden of Eden God said this:

And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food. -Genesis 1:29

I think, in the New Jerusalem, the tree of life, which yields its fruit every month, it's just for our longevity. It was also in Eden, remember, and it was that which God stopped Adam and Eve from eating, 'lest they live forever' in their sin. So, I think food will come from other sources, from seed bearing plants and trees. Which basically means gardening and farming. But, like you said, without the fallen element to it, this won't be hard work, it will be enjoyable. It will be just like Adam, tending the garden as it grows and blossoms and bears.

I think man in Christ's Kingdom will be IMMORTAL, in a spiritual body, without the need for herb and meat food.

I believe a soul is sustained by Gods Breath, which I believe IS the Tree of Life, continuously teaching a man and the spirit of man is sustained by Gods Spirit, which I believe is His internal power a man received at his baptism.

Well, sure, I expect most things have been corrupted. But does that necessarily negate that they will be present and useful in the next age? Wouldn't that mean, then, if we followed it to its logical conclusion, that absolutely nothing (including us!) we see or have in this world would make it into the next?

As God's people we can, even now, take something that sinful people have corrupted, and redeem it to a point. Take, for example, the internet. Oh boy, can it be used for some harmful, sinful stuff! Porn? But, Christians can redeem that technology by using it to send the gospel all over the world with a click of a button! I imagine it will be done a little like this, only exponentially in the eternal age.

Oh! That's a good one! I agree. There are heaps of instruments I want to learn as well and haven't had the time, money or talent. I'm also really hoping that my singing voice will have been...upgraded. I love to sing, but I'm not sure those around me share my love...

Where did you get this? It might be nice if you're right, but I'm not aware of any scripture that sheds light on this fact. We know that in our glorified bodies we will still eat. And, unless God does one heck of a make over to the whole system, wouldn't the concept of "what goes in must come out" still take effect...?

With the apostasy the rapture occurs to end the church age. Those remaining in the world are ungodly, some of which turn to God as tabulation Saints. Two thirds of the world population will die and then all who take the mark killed at the second coming.

In the MK those that survive and make it to it see lifespans as long as the pre-flood people. Christ will rule from Jerusalem, Ezekiel's Temple will be built. Israel will return as covenant nation and the new covenant to the houses of Israel and Judah will go into place, law will return, but an improvement over Mosaic law.

Every day there's fewer born again believers and the rest of the world keeps sliding downhill.

Read the 6 and 7th churches of revelation. Number 6 is raptured and the dominant 7th of this time is spit out into the Tribulation Period.

Where you see all of this goodness worth saving amazes me.

Sure sounds like covenant theology to me.

Even with the world seeing Christ sin continues and at the end of the MK Satan will lead another army to attack Jerusalem. So the world turns on Christ even with him staring them in the face.

We will eat for pleasure not need. Our selection will be 12 fruits.

Bible says we will be neither male or female. So the plumbing ain't there.

Why are you applying the biological rules of our earthly bodies to glorified bodies?

There's something different about their brains...they're often autistic or have some other issue they struggle with...but with one thing, they are almost off the charts. There's this one guy, who can fly over a city...once, and then, from memory, draw the cityscape, perfectly...down to every single window in every building. It's like his brain takes a perfect picture that he can look at as he draws. For most of us, our brains just don't work like that, and the idea of trying to accomplish something similar is impossible.
But it makes me think...they reckon we don't use all of our brains. What if these people, due to their disorder, due to how their brains are wired differently, are using a different section of their brain? What if, once we get to eternity, we are able to use more, or even all, of our brains as well, and can do all those neat things these savants can do...and more!

Do some study on photographic memory and editic member. It is fascinating but also surrounded by a bunch of myths.

I can remember a lot details very precisely that others cannot. But remembering people's names I stink at.

And no, it does not require a disorder to have it. Everybody have, or what varies is the degree and longevity of the memories.

Being able to forget is critical to our mental health.

Without a doubt Adam demonstrated he was able to do more with his brain and we can today.

I do believe in eternity our mental capacity will be greatly enhanced. Obviously things need to be different when facing an eternity where we do not even need sleep.

Good grief, we cannot even conceive of eternity.

Christ, when he resurrected, showing us the 'first fruits' of what was to come for us, had a body that was spiritual but also physical. He was able to disappear at will, but also eat and have people touch him. Paul deliberately tells us that he is the firstborn of many...basically...we can expect our new bodies to be like his. We won't be God, but the properties of our bodies will be the same.

I see those as two DIFFeRENT bodies....yet it is already known, celestial bodies can take upon themselves the appearence of a terrestrial body.

Spiritual indicates religious beliefs. Spirit indicates a nonphysical being.

On this earth a Christian is spiritual with a physical body and the spirit within it.

The dead in Christ are spirits with no physical body.

The resurrection is the raising and restoring to life of the the physical body, which the spirit returns to.

Glorification is the cleansing of the physical body in nature so that it is in harmony with the spirit.

Christ is in a glorified body, which is not the same as our physical body on this earth. So you can't equate what a glorified body can do to being a spirit. It is very different.

Angels are spirit but we see in the Bible where they were able to eat and drink.

A lot of this confusion come from the old incorrect use of Holy Ghost, which is not in the Bible.

A ghost is a nonmaterial body which actually doesn't exist.

Demons are spirits but can go through walls, fly, appear and disappear and possess people.

There's just too much inaccuracy out there among the born-again on this subject.

Yeah it's beyond amazing what some gifted people are capable of. Like photorealistic paintings for instance. I think I would probably need an eternity to ever be so skilled in art. Yet, there are children creating masterpieces before even entering their teens. Same thing with music. I wish I knew what it felt like to be so talented.
