^ I count three baptisms myself...even if they end up amounting to one in a diff pov
What "trap"? If you think that when people get saved that is a trap, then you should move on to a Muslim or Buddhist or Agnostic forum. You seem to be trapped in warped thinking and chances are you will remain there.
well that is not very charitable pEnoch, I mean the issue split the Anabaptist Congregation after all, Amish/Mennonite? I think it is much less about when ppl are actually getting saved v when they begin testifying of themselves to be so, and violent men have sought to force their way into it should be considered too.
um don't you think? :)

who reading this has not been RE-baptized? Anyone?
is it the blind leading the blind? prolly, but don't we all start out the same way?
@Acolyte
Even so! I have been baptized not less than two additional times [last time in 1976] since being baptized at 6 years of age. In any case, the baptism in water, or the lack thereof, should be according to your own conviction. What does God say to your heart?

This is something I tried to ask my mom about. I was baptised as a baby, is it all I need? I don't want to put Jesus back on the cross, I just want the salvation, cleansing, filled with the spirit.. my faith in Him is strong, my repentence true.

Wasn't sure where to put this, please move if it's in the wrong forum. Ty
Baptism as a baby is a useless religious ritual Acolyte. If your heart is moved to repent and embrace the salvation offered by all means be baptised. Make it a public testimony of putting off your former life and rising to a new one. Being immersed is the appropriate symbol for this.

and I dunno, if it has meaning at the time for someone, I don't think this will be truth for them?

I am not sure I understand you properly. If he/she gets baptized again no matter what it means to the OP it still is meaningless. The OP was already baptized and there is no need to again.

You need to study for awhile and put your mind at rest. In the NT they baptized believers by immersion in water in the name of Jesus Christ. The personal name of the triune Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Not true. There is no evidence of immersion ONLY. Scripture only says to use water. We are instructed by Christ to baptize in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19)....not JUST in the name of Jesus Christ.

You should heed your own advise
(You need to study for awhile...).

If you were given a Triune baptism (baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit) with water then that is all you need.

Baptism is the public "marriage ceremony" between the Christian convert and Christ where he chooses to die to self (symbolized by the holding of the breath), be buried with Christ (symbolized by the plunging under water), and resurrect in the newness of life with Christ (symbolized by emerging from the water and taking a new breath).

There are only two types of brides in the world:
(1) those who fully expect their bridegroom to make a proud, public declaration of his love for her
(2) those who are liars.

Trust me, Jesus wants us to tell the world what He means to us. Get baptized.

Baptism is an outward declaration of an inward decision. While the inward decision is what joined you to Christ, in your repentance, and death to self (which is a daily exercise ) the outward public declaration is your public vow to remain faithful and committed. You cannot baptise yourself, any more than you can die and bury yourself. Nor can you raise yourself from the dead. Baptism is a demonstration of your understanding and meaning of true conversion. So don't get buried alive.

When you believe, you will receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost, if you choose to do the water baptism, it wont change who you are in Christ, but its nice.

Act_11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

God isn't legalistic so you need not worry about that. But having said that...even Jesus was baptized to fulfill all that was required of Him. (and for other reasons as well)

I think out of devotion and humility you could look into it. Do it as unto the Lord and not the group or person you are being baptized by. It's rather cold out there at this time. It's something you could plan on doing in warmer weather. Unless you feel the inward pressure to do it sooner of course. Follow the inner voice inside you.

But I think it is wise to plan on it as something to do to fulfill your role as making this commitment to Christ in a public way.

Peace and blessings to you..

Well, that is our opinion now, yes, but we are not him, I mean how might you have responded to some guys on the net telling you that after reading let it be so for now as a new believer?

I would argue that if your heart is moved to rebound you have just embraced salvation and you are all done til next time, but we might consider what someone who has witnessed other Christians effectively passing by on the other side of the road--a likely chillingly accurate pov--their whole lives might feel is an appropriate symbol? (Do we have an appropriate symbol for the baptism of fire?)

I could make a pretty good argument that those who participate in that ritual in a 501c3 "church" are declaring their wiseness/blindness, too, i guess. You're circumcised, right, all your male children are too? See where I'm going with this? Were we perhaps accidentally bound to a covenant when our parents circumcised us, like the Book says? Or have we merely acceeded to it, making it just as true?

Does this mean join/declare a church? I confess every night. Very hard to find a church these days, don't want to get caught up in new age and the others want you to be a member.

My mom yelled at me and told me I said her brothers and sister were all in hell. Our beliefs are different, she lets the minister tell her the bible, I read mine.
She said so now you believe like the Catholics. And then the look. (the one all displeased parents give) See by joining a church it seems you already look down on other churches.. I refuse to do so. They all have their drawbacks and perhaps insights.
I just want to do what Jesus said.

Even more important is to what Jesus did. He was baptised by immersion in the River Jordan by John so go and get yourself baptised by immersion in some water somewhere. I baptised my children in the local swimming pool.

I'm pretty sure one will undergo all of the literal baptisms whether they even choose to or not lol, and the ritual one is strictly an ego maneuver, so that we may then begin commending ourselves to each other.

But I guess my opinion will not be consulted much by new believers either huh lol.
Pretty sure you can die all by yourself?

That is what happened when you read with two eyes, certainly, but fwiw there is another story in there in code, and our sanctioned "baptisms" by immersion are not considered seditious by anyone now, are they? No executioner will coming looking for the "head" of anyone who immerses someone else in water now, right?

So imo go get yourself baptized somewhere at your own risk! lol
and thank God for His mercy too I guess

The order in which faith and baptism are done Biblically is found in Acts 2.41.
