You see all these churches where their leaders have fancy titles, etc.

They spend fortunes fancy clothes, jewelry, staffs and more.

Do you think that is biblical?

My opinion is not. It is ego, power and greed at work.

What do you think?

It's a non issue with me. But on one hand, the Priests of the OT had some pretty fancy duds that were ordained by God (if memory serves me correctly).

In the NT, we don't see it. But I don't think it matters either way. The leadership and preaching should be high lighted.

I suspect Paul and Peter preached their sermons without fancy garb. On the other hand they do have a special honor due to them. I cannot say dressing the part is wrong. And I have no problem with some garb that signifies a special position.

This is my opinion, but I believe everyone should dress their best when going to Church. That includes the preacher. Again, my opinion...

I agree; but neither do I like the idea of ppl deliberately projecting Dress Down Friday into gatherings of the local church...

i see nothing wrong with dressing up as a pastor .only big turn off for me is when they have to wear flashy jewelry. spend money on plastic surgery body guards etc.. on the other hand many not all pastors are dressing down good pant good shirt no tie no suit jacket. when i preach for another church or a sunday morning i wear a suit jacket but no tie

Personally, I don't. Heck, my Pastor doesn't hide his tattoos, so why should anyone else?
I guess for some ppl - especially women - tattoos are in a sense part of looking their best. Not that appearance is the reason to be gathered in a local church, but rather it's for what's inward and spiritual, according to the Word, prayerfully.

I don't really have a problem with earrings. Like, if ears are pierced, it's natural to stick unobtrusive studs through the holes.

I don't know if I would put a limit on flashy jewelry. In itself is isn't wrong. If he is trying to make a statement about his success, then yea. The statement of his success should be his preaching and the state of his Church (spiritually).

Bodyguards I have no problem with if he needs them. Jesus had 12 of them.

I think the poor can't afford any of that should be welcome.
The poor should wear their best, even it their best is jeans with patches. It's about respect.

No in my opinion it's not biblical. Look at the bible, the apostles didn't adorn themselves with riches, or give themselves fancy titles & own fancy bridled horses. What's our example? Seems to me Jesus had no place to lay His head and one cloak. The early church was not rich or decked out like the Romans.
Btw, I attended one of those churches with one of those self-named "Bishops" everybody in the place went nuts when he was introduced, they stood up and clapped and cheered. I stood but I did not clap or cheer and I marveled at the people around me.
Since when do you clap & cheer for your Pastor on Sunday entering to preach the word of God? We give glory to God. The Pastors in my church are great guys , ordinary husbands , fathers , who love the Lord & fear God, they are overseers & and caretakers of the flock. We clap & rejoice together for the Lord, our Pastors in my church are like us, but who have studied to show themselves approved in preaching the word of God, they are not celebrities. We are an inclusive little church family. I think the small community churches are more to my liking.

Speaking for myself I would walk down, as I have done in two churches.

In a word no. We are who we are before God every day of the week so why should Sunday be any different. We have to be able to be ourselves and express our individual personalities. As a new Christian many moons ago, I felt people in the church looked down on me because I wore earrings and make-up so I stopped and became rather dowdy. But then I learned to accept who I am and be myself because God love the me he created me to be and I am allowed to wear dangly earrings and make up and I am now free to be myself. But I would never be immodest but then I suppose that is something for the individual to define for themselves. We need to just accept each other - tattoos and all.
