Yes, the writings of Jesuit General Loyola carry tremendous influence with not only the papacy, but with modern day Protestantism. The "Spiritual Exercises of Loyola" - transcendental meditation, visualization, contemplative prayer, breath prayers, etc., which are just Catholic versions of Eastern religion - was that which he claimed was communicated to him from the other side..and today, emergent church Protestantism is embracing his ideas with both arms.

The problem is legalistic type of views and lack of understanding of the Holy Spirit, that is why the clash I would think on both sides as they are promoting their Church.

Both have a right to put their views forward as I do respect that.
