So part of my anxiety is I get irrational fears in my mind I can't do anything about really, so they sound mighty funny writing out. So here is an exercise for anyone who ever struggles with this also.

Here is my latest irrational fear: I am traveling down with my daughter Lorena for two weeks to visit family out of state.

Fears: imminent death- plane crashing, car crashing, random hurricane and lightening striking (maybe a bit of a hyperbole here, but I am a writer).

Logical reasoning: if we die, we will be with Jesus, but we are taking precautions of safety in traveling.

Fear: having to be away from hubby for Thanksgiving.

Logical reasoning: he hates crowds, better financially, and will enjoy a couple weeks to himself. Unlike me, he is more private anyway, and understands I need to see my family every few years/ may be my aunt's last year.

We have travelled similar roads

Think of your anxiety as an invitation to submit to faith.

I am going to be candid - i attempted suicide in a dramatic fashion, which should have killed me immediately, instead i lived. It was a horrid way to cure my anxiety, but it sure did. Nothing worries me today - nothing. God made it crytal clear that i have no say in my mortality. Nor do you in yours......so relax, friend

Bless you both. ♥︎
I believe in angels...and I often ask God to send the angels of protection.
God set a hedge about Job..... Satan couldn't touch Job until God said -" Have to considered my servant Job?"
Only then did God drop the hedge , but He still said.. 'you can touch him, but you cannot take his life. '

Blessings...H

I am glad you are feeling better Aspen. I never was able to follow through with my attempts, but anxiety has always been my main issue. I used to be depressed a lit, but God has delivered me from this. I get temporary blues. Last time was when my mom passed. But I'm anxious about this trip, because I may be seeing my dad for one...the first time in 17 years. My mom and dad divorced when I was 15 and he was the one who sexually abused me when I was really young. So I have forgiven and feel ready, but don't know what to say.

Plus it may possibly be my aunt cheryl's last Thanksgiving with cancer, and I'm traveling with my daughter. Just a bunch to pray for. But I give this to God.

So the imminent death one is a funny one to cross off my list. Everything will be okay. It is never as scary as in your head.

I agree, it is never quite as scary as we make it out to be.
You have unfinished business with your father

Well for one...just act normal. Say hello and leave it be..for your own protection. You have got over it and forgiven, so I would say let it go.

I got over my 'family member' too, I forgave.
But I made the mistake of feeling that it would be even better if I forgave face to face.
Wrong.
It went sideways ....and he looked at me and said- " I have no idea what you are talking about!! " ...
Then I had to fight to 'get over myself' and forgive all over again!!!

Unless God Himself gives you clear directive , smile, say hi...and keep your heart safe. ♥︎

Just my two cents

I just think he should be able to see his granddaughter...and he has really got his life together from what I have heard. It will be okay. It is my choice whether to see him. My cousins said they can bring me over. I want to...not to forgive. I've already done that. Or get him to admit anything. Just to let him know he is my father and I love him. It doesn't mean I am not leery about it though.

It is hard to just feel overwhelmed with emotion. It is hard to know what I am thinking. But I'm a bit terrified about seeing my dad. I wish I really understood why I feel this way about it. I got to think of Lorena too. And Ill deeply regret as my last living parent not to see him and he ends up dying one day. He is older now. I can give him that respect. He always deeply cared for us. I do love my dad. But Ive just had chills for a couple days. Numbness again. I want to face my fear once and for all for both my husband and my daughter. And for me. I think seeing him if just once will finally bring closure.

Do y'all know my issue? It is hard to pray in this time. Ill pray a few words and type and pray a little more. But definitely hard to hand these fears over. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. It is hard to do something different. Even now after all the training I've done. I type my feelings. It is important to feel heard. I have a voice. Thanks for listening.

I really should email myself again. Typing my feelings in the middle of anxiety sort of makes me sound like someone I am not on the internet.

My dreams sometimes are great cause of fear. I have had a lot of tornado dreams, dream of the golden gate bridge collapsing, and Bibles being replaced with universal ones. Nuclear bombs...but 2 Timothy says that God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind/discipline. So now I have resolved to pray if I have a dream like this. And prayer really does help my anxieties. Whether it is just a dream, from threnemy, or to draw me closer to God, prayer is always a good idea.

Sometimes we get disturbing dreams because we are anxious and our subconscious copes by bringing our anxiety into dreams. Perhaps before you go to sleep Mayflower, you should cast your anxieties on Jesus.

It has helped praying for peace over my mind before going to sleep. And not googling.

My particular focus in this field was teaching "REBT" (Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy). You might find it advantageous to look it up and spend some months absorbing the finer points of how to implement it in your daily life.

I have stopped going to counseling again, because it can get pricey off Medicaid, even with insurance. But she wanted me to list the percentage of how likely an event was to happen. The thing is, a lot of the junk going on the United States is likely to happen. It isnt going to help rationalizing an irrational belief. I just have to affirm in my positiive beliefs that I know how it will turn out with God in the end. I am just a butter cup when it comes to pain. And I am so afraid of how I will react if I am to be persecuted for my faith. I just hope I can be strong for others to come to Christ and act in a Christ-like way with a forgiving spirit.

Is that the one where you tap different areas of your body to relieve anxiety?
No, EBTherapy (or EBPractice) is a study to determine which emotive therapies work best with a specific patient.

"Emotive" refers to perceptional thinking.
