The prophecies that will come to pass have all been recorded in the bible & that is what has unfolded in the past and will unfold. However there will always be some people like to make their human predictions and call it prophecy.Has prophecy ceased? Has knowledge ceased? I don't believe so, therefore why should tongues have ceased?
But they don't just stop there. They call themselves prophets and apostles. Check out "The Elijah List" web site. However there will always be some people like to make their human predictions and call it prophecy.
Predictions are not the same as prophecy. The prophecies that will come to pass have all been recorded in the bible & that is what has unfolded in the past and will unfold. However there will always be some people like to make their human predictions and call it prophecy.
Exactly. There are no new prophecies coming from God.Predictions are not the same as prophecy.
Maybe not in your neck of the woods.Exactly. There are no new prophecies coming from God.
What are some new prophecies from God?Maybe not in your neck of the woods.
His book The Religious Affections? Yes, he nailed "the enthusiasts" and their false surmisings. We have the word of God written.
We have the Spirit of God to welcome truth.
We have complete victory in Jesus.
What exactly did God not tell us that these random persons have to be contacted about?
Jonathan Edwards wrote about such people who attempt to make the claim of such supernatural encounters in an effort to give themselves a measure of prestige.
Prophecies don't have to be for the world-wide Church, they can be for smaller groups. One I heard a few years ago was that God was Sovereign and if people didn't respect his sovereignty he would break them up and then put them back together again. But I don't expect you to accept that as a prophecy as you believe that has ceased. But I would say why would you think that - even if you yourself weren't hearing any - because God says he is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. What are some new prophecies from God?
You're reply is problematic on many levels. Why would you think there is a new revelation by God? Where did you get that teaching from? where is that predicted in the scriptures?Maybe not in your neck of the woods.
That's not a prophecy because it's already known and true that God is Sovereign.Prophecies don't have to be for the world-wide Church, they can be for smaller groups. "So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ." Ephesians 4:11-13You're reply is problematic on many levels. Why would you think there is a new revelation by God? Where did you get that teaching from? where is that predicted in the scriptures?
So, I guess you don't believe what is written in the Word of God & think it is not complete for some reason?
We are supposed to treat God as Sovereign but what about what was prophesied when they didn't?That's not a prophecy because it's already known and true that God is Sovereign.
Continuations of prophecies, or not, has no bearing on the immutability of God, so that argument of yours is non sequitur. God never said he would break people up and put them back together, it's made up surmising. God doesn't threaten to do these things to people if they don't believe in an attribute. Doesn't sound at all like God to me.
Well you believe what you want but I still believe in prophecy as do lot of people I know. You are limiting God to a timescale but he is unchanging and still speaks to his people through prophets. It's sad that you have never encountered that. That's not a prophecy because it's already known and true that God is Sovereign.

Now hold on for just a minute, I've done nothing to "limit" God so no need to go down that road of false accusations.Well you believe what you want but I still believe in prophecy as do lot of people I know. Sorry Pearl but , that is just a typical of the faulty technique of taking a piece of scripture , cutting it out from the context it was written and gluing it in where it doesn't belong. No where is that scripture used to say GOD is always speaking out new prophecies. That scripture you used is followed by a warning - do not be carried away with strange teachings".But I would say why would you think that - even if you yourself weren't hearing any - because God says he is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.
There are no new prophets. Did the Apostles preach about new apostles coming and new prophets of God?? nope. If the ones in the Pentecostal church today are legit , why didn't the Apostles teach us about them?Well you believe what you want but I still believe in prophecy as do lot of people I know. It totally doesn't sound like God to me either. Sounds like an imposter.God doesn't threaten to do these things to people if they don't believe in an attribute. Doesn't sound at all like God to me.
