So what church did Jesus build? Will ANYBODY please answer that question!

If it was the baptist, then by using scripture, show us how it was designated, how they operated, how they were organized, the doctrine that they taught, and it should look like a present day baptist, Methodist, etc.
He actually didn’t build any churches that I know of, and He was a carpenter. Plus, they met in houses in those days.

Burn the church building down, the church is still there, seeing the ppl make up the church, not the building that says “Church of Christ meets here”.

But remember, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.[2 Corinthians 4:4] Those who are enslaved to sin and Satan can not comprehend the marvelous gospel of the Christ. Furthermore, But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised.[1 Corinthians 2:14] The natural man that Paul was referring to is the lost. The lost are enslaved to sin and Satan, have their minds blinded so that they can not comprehend this glorious gospel. And I’ll close here(ETA: I said I’d close here, but didn’t, sorry, other things came to my mind I needed to post), For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, “I WILL DESTROY THE WISDOM OF THE WISE, AND THE CLEVERNESS OF THE CLEVER I WILL SET ASIDE.” Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.[1 Corinthians 1:18-21] You can see Paul showing two classes of ppl here. Those who are perishing and those who are saved. Those who are perishing consider the word of the cross as foolishness. Why? 1 Corinthians 2:14 & 2 Corinthians 4:4. It is because Satan has their minds blinded they can’t grasp this glorious gospel. Unless God overthrows him and takes control of their lives, they will never come to receive the truth.

Look at this Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.[2 Thessalonians 2:8-10] During the tribulation the antichrist will cause many to be deceived. He will cause them to not receive the truth so they could be saved. This goes back to 2 Corinthians 4:4.

But Paul encourages them at Thessalonica when he wrote But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. It was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouthor by letter from us.[2 Thessalonians 2:13-15] We see election, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation, sanctification, sanctification by the Spirit, justification, faith in the truth, effectual calling/irresistible grace, It was for this He called you through our gospel, and even glorification I believe, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

All of this is done for the elect. The rest He justly leaves in their fallen state, to await judgment.
All the above I accept. No-one can come to God except God draw them. No argument. But that does not refute the idea that a slave can desire to be free. He may not know how to get free. He certainly cannot free himself. He may also experience a conflict whereby he goes through a time where two opposing forces are at work to capture his attention. God wins sometimes, Satan others. But does God win because He is the more powerful and His will absolute, or because the sinner, through revelation by the holy Spirit, sees clearly that his only real option is to accept Christ?
At this point you would likely rebuke me again for suggesting that this guy is earning salvation by deciding upon the better option, regardless of his being drawn in that direction by the Spirit. But is he really earning salvation when it is the Spirit all along who guided and led him to the right decision?

God explained free will right from the beginning...
Genesis 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
The word IF demands choice. Doing? Means it is up to the individual to choose to DO or NOT TO DO.
God didn’t say....Sorry Cain I chose Abel, so there is no way you could have done the right thing. Do you see that in the text?
You convey mistaken interpretation. The word "IF" does not convey innate ability (free will). Don't forget that the One, the Messiah, is the promise in Genesis 3:15, so it is looking to the Messiah from the beginning. You are a lump of clay shaking your fist at God as referred to in Romans 9:19-20

19 You will say to me then, "Why does He still find fault? For who resists His will?"
20 On the contrary, who are you, O man, who answers back to God? The thing molded will not say to the molder, "Why did you make me like this," will it?

And, again, Jesus, Who is Lord and God, said:

"you did not choose Me, but I chose you"

"The Righteous Sovereignty of God Post" (in this thread), "The Audience of Lord Jesus for John 14:16 and John 15:16 Are All Dicsiples In All Time Post" (in this thread), and "Matthias and Joseph in Exhibit 7 with the Lord Jesus and the Apostles 'All the Time' Post" (in this thread) contain the Truth.

I still haven't seen an explanation from anyone informing us of how they know God has chosen them specifically to be a part of the elect...which this thread was prompted from. And this....

Prompts me to ask another question...if we are in fact opposing the true gospel, can you explain why God is revealing Himself in and through us anyway? Even though we are opposing Him at every turn? Does He free people from sin who continue to oppose the very message that saved them?
Good post. Don’t hold your breath on answers. I don’t get any.
See, they are just the special people and you need to just come to grips with it and move on.

Peter told them to REPENT and they SHALL RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT. Which came first? Acts 2:38

Throw out everything you've learned from man, and just read the Word of God.

Acts 2:38 contains these commands and promise:

"Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."

Command: repent (comes from God)

Command: each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins (be immersed in Lord Jesus' name)

Promise: you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit

CharismaticLady, you seem to have selectively withheld the second command, and that sure sounds like you throwing out the words that Peter spoke for the teaching of man.

You missed the point(s) I made the last time. Why should I try again just so you will refuse them again?

God wins all the time, Satan a big fat zero. God saves all He intends to save. Not one more, not one less. All the Father gives the Son will be raised on the last day.[John 6:44]

Funny how they weren’t around until Alexander Campbell and the Restoration Movement. There is no history of any Churches of Christ before then.
This one is as easy as pointing to the cane ridge church of Christ. 1791. Long before any Campbell arrived. There are many more as well.

Yes. And it was Presbyterian in 1801.

group of Kentucky's early settlers built Cane Ridge Meeting House in 1791. Nestled among Kentucky's rolling hills and gracious horse farms, Cane Ridge Meeting House is located on State Highway 537 in Bourbon County, Kentucky. It is believed to be the largest one-room log structure standing in North America. It is the symbol of the late 18th and early 19th Century Western Great Revival. The Cane Ridge Presbyterian congregation with its pastor Barton Warren Stone were hosts for the event that took place here in August 1801.

Following the advice of pioneer explorer and guide Daniel Boone, a group of Scots-Irish Presbyterians from North Carolina settled in the area in 1790. At the same time that they were building homes and establishing livelihoods, they cut and hewed blue ash logs for the Meeting House's walls and oak and chestnut trees for beams and roof supports.

This is used against clear texts that show God elects to salvation based on nothing in man.
Show me the passages that teach God elects apart from anything that is done. The Bible I read tells me that God accepts those who fear him and WORKS righteousness..acts 10:35 the passage right after your “no respecter of persons” passage you mentioned.

You said there was no evidence before Campbell and I showed you one. Did you get your above info from Wikipedia? You still haven’t answered post 482.

No. There’s a link at the bottom of that post. It was Presbyterian in 1801. There were NO Churches of Christ before Campbell came along. I’m still looking for some historical proof from you there were some around.

Christian courier..
lt is a matter of historical record that there were churches of Christ – both in Europe and in America – before Alexander Campbell had a clear concept of what primitive Christianity was all about. Leslie G. Thomas has documented New Testament churches in Scotland, England, and Ireland, dating between 1778 and 1810 (The Restoration Handbook, 73).

This proves you to be an heretic, for Christ promised this..
Mathew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
So, we know he promised to build a church, so I will ask again....
WHAT CHURCH DID HE BUILD? Does anybody else want to try. I might start that thread so we can focus.

Yet brakelite wanted me to explain things to him again. It’s like the blind man the Christ healed in John 9. ”I told you already and you did not listen; why do you want to hear it again?” His response would be, “so I can reject it again.”
