The Epistle to the Hebrews The drift and end of this Epistle, is to show that Jesus Christ the Son of God both God and man, is that true eternal and only Prophet, King, and high Priest, that was shadowed by the figures of the old Law, and is now indeed exhibited: of whom the whole Church ought to be taught, governed and sanctified.

It's an amazing Epistle. The word 'better' is an operative one.
Very true. And worthy of serious study by all Christians, especially Messianic Jews.

Christians should also be aware that the Seventh Day Adventists have deliberately distorted the ministry of Christ in the Heavenly Sanctuary, as seen in their official Statement of Faith.

"At His ascension, He was inaugurated as our great High Priest and, began His intercessory ministry, which was typified by the work of the high priest in the holy place of the earthly sanctuary. In 1844, at the end of the prophetic period of 2300 days, He entered the second and last phase of His atoning ministry, which was typified by the work of the high priest in the most holy place of the earthly sanctuary. It is a work of investigative judgment which is part of the ultimate disposition of all sin, typified by the cleansing of the ancient Hebrew sanctuary on the Day of Atonement...The investigative judgment reveals to heavenly intelligences who among the dead are asleep in Christ and therefore, in Him, are deemed worthy to have part in the first resurrection. It also makes manifest who among the living are abiding in Christ, keeping the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus, and in Him, therefore, are ready for translation into His everlasting kingdom."

Perhaps you could share with us Enoch how you understand the various figurative roles the High Priest had on the Day of Atonement ie, what they were figurative of??

Here is what we read about the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur).
... it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God. (Lev 23:28)

And the priest, whom he shall anoint, and whom he shall consecrate to minister in the priest's office in his father's stead, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen clothes, even the holy garments:
And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make an atonement for the tabernacle of the congregation, and for the altar, and he shall make an atonement for the priests, and for all the people of the congregation.(Lev 16:32.33)

The Day of Atonement was a type of the day of crucifixion. The big difference was that Christ was the ultimate Lamb of God who TOOK AWAY the sin of the world at the cross. While the temple and its sacrifices stood, the sins of Israel were only COVERED. But when Christ died for our sins, He cancelled the sin debt, "and there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins".

The theory of "the investigative judgment" has no basis in the book of Hebrews or anywhere else in Scripture. And of course neither is 1844 found in the Bible! 2300 days ( 6 years and approx 5 months) was reinterpreted as 2300 years, but it pertains to Daniel's 70th week and the Abomination of Desolation.

The Day of Atonement had far more activity in it than just the slaying of the lamb for sins. It is ignoring the remaining symbolism and its meaning because it doesn't fit into popular theology that qualifies popular theology as wanting...nay, subversive!

Yes there were all kinds of animals sacrificed and all kinds of activity by the high priest. What we need to remember is that this day had to be repeated YEAR AFTER YEAR for about 1500 years because its impact was temporary.
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. (Heb 9:12)

In contrast Christ was the divine High Priest who sacrificed Himself as the Lamb of God and after He had purged our sins SAT DOWN AT THE RIGHT HAND OF THE MAJESTY ON HIGH. Big difference.

[Christ] Who being the brightness of his [the Father's] glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high (Heb 1:3).

Hello Enoch,

Indeed Jesus IS the divine High Priest who sacrificed Himself as the Lamb of God 'when the hour had come'.

Which hour? Exodus 12:6

Important, pivotal verse there in Hebrews 1.3.
