I was thinking today that we have lots of threads about the bible, verses, etc , what it is and what its not.
We have lots of threads about which doctrine is right and which aren't.

I thought maybe we could post things that have been small ( or large) encounters and moments with God Himself.

The times that God has 'jumped into your life'.

Obviously my first 'God moment' was when The Holy Spirit opened my eyes to see that God Himself sent Jesus at a high price , to bridge the great gap between Him and me.
Like I was standing on one side, and God one the other, and there was no way acrooss the great chasm between ....until Jesus became The Bridge.

Months later I had promised my two toddlers that after a nap I would take them to the park ..to the swings and sand pit ( where there were little children they had got friendly with. ) It must have been a Friday...Dave got paid on Fridays.
While they were sleeping I checked my purse and I only had one 3d ( a three penny coin) each child would be 3d to get in ..( just shows how long ago this was :D)
I was worried, I could not break my promise to my toddlers...
I didn't know what to do so I prayed to the Lord about my impending broken promise.
I looked everywhere.... then I sort of heard a prompt inside me saying..."Look one more time under the couch cushions."
I looked and low and behold here was a single 3d piece.
I cried, not because I would have to break my promise as such, but because I felt God was interested in even the smallest thing in my life.

Obviously as the years rolled by , these were just the first times that God touched my life.

So many 'small' things like that have happened to me also. My mentor taught me nothing was too big or too small and I have asked him to help me find dropped sewing needles, keys and other items.

That was a good one. But you must have had to look quite *low* under the cushions. Otherwise it would have been *lo and behold*. Gotcha.;)

Anyway, I'm a rather private person, so I generally keep things like this private.
But I'm not a Privateer.

Thanks for the response...LOL
Yep, should have been 'lo and behold ' :D

I don't usually share a lot, unless asked...because the vultures come flying in as soon as someone dares to say that God is alive and active in our lives...
I don't think I would have lasted all these years if I had not seen God at work in my life. I have one friend who says that nothing has ever happened, no blessed dreams, no little miracles, no scripture that jumps off the page ...just a childlike following of God ...I take my hat off to those people who have 'believed without seeing'....anything at all, ever.
...no fingerprints of God...what faith.

God must know that I needed to know that He was right there every now and again. I never did like the dark. :)

Hi @"ByGrace",

Thanks for the invite.

I encountered the Lord as the result of having read the secular book by Peter Elbow called Writing with Power. In the book it said that there is a demon or a stag on your shoulder that you sometimes cooperate with and sometimes struggle against in order to produce what is called "voice" in your writing.

Using the techniques in the book, I wrote a gruesome poem about a witch burning as an assignment for my Creative Writing Class. I got so much applause and commendation over that poem that I went home that night and was tempted to sell my soul to the devil.

But, I remembered scripture that had been preached when I had been a churchgoer about 3-4 years previous to that. What shall it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, and yet forfeits his soul?

So, I didn't sell my soul to the devil.

But neither could I sit on the fence any longer.

I said to God, "God, I don't know if You're real; but I'm going to start reading Your word and doing what it says; and I know that if You are real, You will reveal Yourself to me."

God didn't wait. I had such an ecstatic experience with the Lord that I don't think that I will ever forget it, even if they pump me to the hilt with anti-pneumonic drugs for the rest of my life.

I think I may have even died and gone to heaven for about four minutes. My words to Jesus (though I didn't see Him with my physical eyes; because they were darkened) were, "I have to go back and tell people about this love!"

It is truly the most powerful pleasure that anyone can ever experience, without any guilt attached...joy unspeakable and full of glory, just like the Bible says...and a peace that passes all understanding, also just like the Bible says.

Another time, I was crying out, saying over and over again, "I want to see the real Jesus..." at first, the stuckle on the ceiling turned to faces of demons in front of my face...but after a while of persistent prayer, Jesus' face broke through. I know it was Jesus because my holiness was turned into unholiness in my own sight. I remember thinking, "His holiness is His love"...His love is so far above anything that we can call love in our own lives, that there is no way that we can measure up to it...thus the gap between His love and ours is a set-apartedness in Him that shows us that He is far above us in every way.

That was also the experience when Jesus told me to take my psychiatric medicine, and that "We're going to make you better."

Oh Gosh Helen, SO much to say really but, like Pat, they are small things (huge to me though!) Important things I lost would be found in an instant, as soon as I would stop panicking and simply saying "God, you know where this is, I do not and I trust you" BAM! It's surreal sometimes!
Just a month ago I thought sure I would have to put a wonderful dog down...BAM...he is alive and better than ever. Thought I would have to walk away from my house...BAM, I was awarded service connected injuries and it had been over 4 years and I totally forgot about it! Looked in my bank acct. one day and...yeah - BAM~!!! He is so good and kind to us ♥

I have been blessed with so much in this manner...some have been witnesses to these experiences and also have been blessed.
I know close friends that have spent their lives in church and the Holy Bible but still struggle with faith. I pray for them to have these experiences because I want that for them and it would mean so much to them, because it can supercharge your faith.

@ByGrace;

Blessings for the thread, I do enjoy reading how God works and moves in other believers life’s, it’s so encouraging.

I have so many times God has proved Himself over and over in my life, as scripture says, the world could not contain the books if they were all wrote out.

God is good and He loves us so!

Many blessings ByGrace, Not me

I remember another 'moment' not long after.

I was saved at 22, Dave was 25 and there were about 8 others about our age that the Pastor was nurturing. He called it a "young peoples meeting."
We did feel very young, we already had two little children.

But on Wednesday nights we would have a meeting and the pastor encouraged us to speak, read scripture, pray and testify etc..

After one meeting was over , he had said the last prayer..and no one moved. It was total silence ...we just sat there...I can only call it a 'thick' silence.
I had a dread that someone would speak...suddenly I felt my head being pressed down in a praying position...and wow, the heavy presence of God fell. No one moved an inch, no one spoke...it lasted about a full 5mins, but felt like forever...I didn't want it to end.

We smiled at each other and quietly went home. All Dave and I said to each other in the car was.."Wow".

Never forgotten it, and that was 1964.

Thankfully, it wasn't the last. ✟

I know that you have touted some Universalism in the past...

So I would ask you, what would have happened to your soul if you had died for some-odd reason before you got saved?

That feeling of peace when praying with others is priceless.

The God Moments. Every day. Twenty years now and the Lord still shows me new things like the perfecting of understanding and faith. I feel like I don't deserve what I receive but he is still there. Never leave you or forsake you. I feel him there every day. I think it is because I love it so much. There is nothing more exhilarating or exciting than feeling the Spirit move in you.

I had a "God moment", I think it was yesterday, when I realized my long lost [to me] friend Colin was back on the scene. It must have been on True2ourselves that we first met so many years ago [more than 10] and then we waded through 2 or 3 of Mike's forums. Not sure that you were on all of them with me but then several months [a year?] ago Helen found you on a UK forum and advised me, but that connection was short-lived. Our God always knows what He is about...
Give God the glory!

It is so good to share these 'God moments' as it is encouraging, edifying and enabling to hear what God is doing in our lives.
Like Helen I have been skint and have 'found' enough money for my needs. My house phone stopped working and I thought it would have to be taken back to the store but after praying about it God showed me what was wrong with it and I fixed it. He is a wonderful Father.

Several years ago we attended a church where our small study group consisted of five couples. One lady had been fighting cancer for years. Our study group spent a weekend in a cabin in the mountains just in fellowship. The way that God used this woman was amazing. I cannot think of any specific ways, just her conversations and the love of Christ that shown through her and her life. She passed away the year we went to the cabin.

Our study group leader was 50 years old, diagnosed with cancer and given four months to live. He witnessed to people as he was receiving chemotherapy. He led his mother and sister to Christ. A few weeks later he was hospitalized. He called us on a Saturday and asked us to have class in his hospital room because that was going to be his last Sunday. He gave the lesson and prayed for us, said his goodbyes and passed away a few days later.

God did not deliver my friends from cancer - He delivered them through it.

The lives of these people were “God moments” for me. Seeing their faith and their love was seeing Christ through them. I think this is why I am so adamant about how we love others. Having witnessed that love in other people, I cannot but wonder why I do not always see it in myself. Too often, I'm afraid, it just is not there.
