I agree. Chernobyl is now a place of nuclear contamination, but it is not the only place in which nuclear radiation has been leaked or detonated.
Lets consider the nuclear disaster of Fukishima. Has that been contained or stopped??
Since the 1950s, hundreds of nuclear detonations and testing have been going on all over the globe. Unfortunately, with all of that, the oceans, rivers and ground waters are now contaminated with nuclear "fallout".
Rev. 8[11] And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.
What is Cancer?
For 6000+/- years, man did not not have enough genius to improve on the "wheel", yet now in only the past 100 years, we are now visiting other planets.
So, where did all of this sudden influx of genius come from, in such a very short time?
Ans. Satan!!
He is getting this world prepared to do battle against the sudden and Glorious return of the Lord Jesus, in order to protect and defend his only place of residence.

What a novel idea! IMO, a lot of good things have happened in the last 100 years, and good things don't come from Satan!!

The irony is that our technological revolution began with the rise of Christian Europe. We didn't invent the scientific method, but we took it from the Greeks and the Arabs, and used it to change our world. As you suggest, it has produced wonderful and useful things to make our lives better, to more effectively spread the Good News, and to reduce suffering.
Like all gifts, our intelligence and curiosity can be twisted to produce evil as well. It doesn't mean that the gift is defective; it means we are defective.

Well that sometimes depends upon one's perspective. The atomic bomb for instance. Whether it's good or bad, depends upon whether you are the giver or receiver. :-)

You cite a single event and apply it globally. What do you think the result would be if multiplied some 4,000 times?
Does your city draw water from wells or reservoirs? Remember, a weapon over a city is only the start. An air-burst radioactive fallout extends for hundreds of miles and affects much more than a Chernobyl or a Fukushima, and it won't be a -single- weapon that will be expended.

But it is the future, and it will be accomplished. Perhaps a wise person would anticipate and prepare, but the fool doesn't.

Sounds pretty unlikely. I don't think there are 4,000 nuclear nuclear power stations. (Yehren checks) No, there are less than one-tenth that many currently functional.
Nuclear war is quite a different issue, yes. "Air burst" is a nuclear weapon exploding in the atmosphere. Not something that happens in a power plant.
Millions. Or tens of millions. The projection for invading Japan was pretty grim. Mostly Japanese civilians, but maybe a million allied soldiers as well.

Your post compares whether water being poisoned as "wormwood" is equivalent to Fukishima. Then you cite radiation levels in water.
I merely suggest that if some 4,000 nuclear weapons were detonated, it would create a much more significant surface water contamination than your comparison portends.
Or, maybe there will be no "falling stars" which cause a man to "melt" while still standing, and the Bible is just so much imagination. Perhaps we should only concern ourselves with tidal waves.

But man built the Pyramids, the Temples, the Cathedral's and many other amazing achievements.
Mankinds problem is that Satan has been allowed to deceive all who fall for his lies, ever since Adam and Eve.
In a near future time, Satan will be kicked out of the Heavenly realms, Revelation 12:9, then we will be so much more susceptible to his wiles and the Bible tells us that all the world will worship him. Revelation 13:8, excepting those who have already believed and are worthy to have their name Written in the Book of Life.

Satan fell (was cast out) of Heaven along time ago.
Jesus, in His preincarnate state was a witness to it.
During that time, he still had access to God, and was allowed to talk to God, and even challenge Him.

But now that Jesus has come in the flesh, and was crucified dead, buried, Resurrected into New Life, and has Ascended to God, satan (the "strong man"- Mat. 12:29) was "bound" to this world "in chains of darkness", which is to say that He can no longer approach God, nor can he receive any Light from Him.
So then, being "bound" by Jesus at that time, what is the evidence now, that he has been "loosed for a little season", having "great wrath", and is attacking every living thing, on the earth and in the sea?

Ummmmmm, actually it seems that this account goes back to the Cross, -- not the tribulation -- as already pointed out by another.
Rev. 12:10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. 11 And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. 12 Rejoice then, O heaven and you that dwell therein! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!”
Of course it ends up at the Tribulation at the close of the Chapter.
