Now THAT's funny. Out of all the nonsense posted in this Forum ...
Scoff on then, and keep stocking up food.

Is that too easy an explanation? Is it that hard to believe a prophecy was fulfilled?

Why laugh if you know nothing about it? Do you ever learn from anyone else, or do you think only you know anything?

Missing years (Jewish calendar) - Wikipedia

Jesus knew about those "missing years" from the calendar. The Jewish leaders knew too. They didn't want ordinary Jews to know destruction was just around the corner, so most people didn't. That's why Jesus warned his followers to expect to see it in their lifetimes.

Scoff? Did you say "SCOFF"? NO! -- It's called HISTORY?!?

Maybe we should start at 9:2 and arrive to a fulfillment rather than believe ignorant postulations?

Bobby Jo
What's so hard? The exile lasted 70 years, and then there was another 420 years.

Jesus told his disciples they'd see it in their lifetimes. They did.

Quite the OPPOSITE. YOU violate the angel's instructions in 12:4 & 9, and assign ANCIENT fulfillments. I COMPLY with the angel's instructions and find a fulfillment for the era approximate to the International Recognition of the State of Israel. -- So if anyone comes closer to the Preterist position, IT'S YOU! :)

But as provided to @Enoch111, PLEASE BELIEVE THE COMMENTATOR LIES. It's difficult for most people to accept new ideas, when you're comfortable with the LIES. So BELIEVE THE LIES. -- Believing lies doesn't give you a headache. Thinking does.

Bobby Jo says >> "PLEASE BELIEVE THE COMMENTATOR LIES. It's difficult for most people to accept new ideas, when you're comfortable with the LIES. So BELIEVE THE LIES. -- Believing lies doesn't give you a headache. Thinking does."

A good example of one who manufactures daft imaginary fantasies in their own imagination!

I suppose that was presented as an accusation, but nothing of what I stated comes from a commentary. I don't use commentaries. The last time I read a commentary on this subject was by John Walvoord, forty-five years ago in March 1974. I find the texts of Daniel and Revelation so easy to read and understand, that I don't need someone else's brain to read it for me. For me, reading and understanding these books is as simple as reading a grade 2 reader.

In all fairness, you may be entirely right and I may be entirely wrong, but I am using the simple brain God gave me, and if I have got it wrong, then that's His problem! I'm just doing the best I can with tools He gave me to work with. So with my limited resources, you are so far above me, that I don't understand anything you are saying. On that basis, we really have nothing to discuss. :) I am going to just stick with the simple stuff presented in the Bible.

It's ok to be disinterested in the Truth of Scripture, but I would strongly advise continuing to promote FALSE doctrines after being educated as to the Truth of the prophecies. And christianity shouldn't require a Ph.D., but HIS Truth DOES speak to ALL levels, including a Ph.D. and beyond, as evidenced by Walvoord"s work in which he cited the best experts including Montgomery, Young, Kiel, & Kliefoth. But Walvoord STILL FAILED to discern the interpretation, and all his sources could do is identify the critical aspects -- but not the solutions.

Take for example the 9:2 text interpreted as though it were the "shama", when the text says "biyn". And as pointed out, the "weeks" which are interpreted as the concise text, when Daniel uses the INCONCISE text. Or that the "going forth of the word" is NOT from a man-king, but from GOD HIMSELF. And this Prophecy is not ANCIENT, but is END-TIME.

And of course, MANY in this Forum are not "Christians" (capital "c") but only "christians" (small "c") operating either outside the TRUTH of Scripture, or in name only. So we end up with MORE False doctrines than TRUTH. So that alone leads many to believe men instead of GOD.

Matt. 11:12 From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and men of violence take it by force. -- If better rendered should read: The kingdom of heaven is obtain by pursuit, and pursuers take it by ardent action.

All we can do is keep pursuing, being careful to test what we hear before repeating error to others!

Which becomes bread... But not by bread alone does man live, but every word of God, and if there's famine for the word, then would be bitterness...

But can we make the jump from flour to bread? One is suited to eat on its own, the other not.

By putting flour into the pot it is like testing it with scripture. The poisonous doctrines can become harmless by testing them.

... 9:2 and find out the TRUTH. Or stick your head in the sand.
What's worse than sticking your head in the sand is being clueless.

Daniel 9:2 is about the Babylonian captivity. Seventy years of captivity to correspond to the seventy times of failure to keep the sabbaths of the land. Daniel was in the midst of that captivity and prayed that it might end according to the Word of God. This has nothing to do with the seventy weeks of Daniel, which is a separate prophecy.

So . . your name is Daniel?

Are you saying that the words are shut up and sealed until the time of the end when DANIEL and ONLY DANIEL can understand them?

We are in the time of the end, -- if you haven't noticed. Thus the words are not longer shut up and sealed, -- if you're interested.

Or -- maybe people prefer excuses, any kind of excuse.

Whew,

Since angels (holy angels) are never liars, we have only one alternative (as shown above).

Your ancient fulfillments make the angel a liar in case you haven't thought about it ... :)

I don't recall where we were ever instructed to listen to angels, but rather are warned that even Satan can present himself as an angel of light. 2 Cor 11:14

You're CORRECT.

Luke 1:18 And Zechari′ah said to the angel, “How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is advanced in years.” 19 And the angel answered him, “I am Gabriel, who stand in the presence of God; and I was sent to speak to you, and to bring you this good news. 20 And behold, you will be silent and unable to speak until the day that these things come to pass, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their time.”

Although I typically advise against using the term "idiot", if an angel ever does speak to you, warn you, instruct you, -- CALL HIM AN IDIOT! And let us know how it works out for you, if you're still alive ...

Under the New Covenant, we now have the Holy Spirit to guide us:

"But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come." John 16:13
