Sometimes I cry as I pray for others because my heart breaks for them.

Well done. Keep on working with it. Skills increase with practice.
Well, I suppose I should be horsewhipped if I'm appearing to support Trump! But you should love Trump! Isn't his lawyer your uncle or something??
Now I know which candidate you voted for--the smiley face one. :)
Have you seen this?
Same hereSometimes I cry as I pray for others because my heart breaks for them.
In essence, it comes down more, for me, about how much trust is being put into human leaders by fellow humans, and this isn't just about Trump here; especially considering looking back on history at human leaders and what they've done ultimately, sure there's been some that have done good, but not many, overall - to me, it takes away from our true leader, who none of these compare to. I know that's just my opinion, so I don't force it on others and say they should think as I do, but I am allowed to talk about it too. Jesus, for Jesus, and nothing but Jesus - Jesus rules!
Oh, the irony of it all!Same here

It's not the criticizing that I was criticizing. :) It's the mocking. It never seems to end...........
I have no human heroes (except Captain America, lol). I don't hesitate to call out evil on either side of the aisle. Republican presidents have done some pretty evil things, esp. in the area of education reform. I'm one of those research nerds who reads 1000+ page education reform bills. Like No Child Left Behind, which was a reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA), originally shoved down America's throat by LBJ.
Bush Jr. added a provision to the his reauthorization of ESEA requiring that individual student data be collected. This data gets really personal and even includes info on students' attitudes and beliefs. Why does the federal government need this kind of data? Hmm?
Essentially, it was Republican governors (through the NGA) who got Common Core in schools across this nation. When the Democrats couldn't accomplish this, Republicans got the dastardly deed done.
I'm all for exposing evil wherever it lurks.... but the mocking grates on me.
Does all comedy grate on you, or just when it involves people, especially people who put themselves in the spotlight by choice?
Thanks for the heads up. I'll be sure to avoid this thread entirely from here on out!
Good, clean comedy doesn't grate on me. My kids would tell you this. We laugh a lot. We get a good belly laugh making silly videos using some of the SnapChat effects that distort the face and voice in funny ways. I enjoy some of the Bad Lip Reading videos. Most that I've seen involve clean, but clever, humor. These videos poke fun at people, but lack the mocking meanness that I see in this thread.
So, it's mocking, not humor, that grates on me. This would be true even if you were mocking someone I don't like. Perhaps less true, but true nonetheless. I'm sure you've read what God has to say about mocking and mockers. This behavior stems from the flesh, not the Spirit, and is something that His Spirit has been convicting me of lately. I have found that it's all too easy to mock others, but I believe that mocking is a form of judging others.
We're going to have to agree to disagree here I think. You think we're mean for mocking a narcissist who likens themself to Jesus - likening oneself to Jesus is mean to me, but I guess he gets a pass from you on that...
Uh, I think that mocking is wrong, period. I made this pretty clear. But based on what the Bible says, I should probably steer clear of attempting to correct mockers.... Just saying.
Are you serious here? The Bible says mocking against God and Jesus is wrong, not some person who thinks they're likened to God. You're unbelievable right now - mocking against Trump is the same as mocking against God? Are you really saying this?
What does the Bible say about scoffers? | GotQuestions.org
I don't see that distinction in all verses pertaining to mocking. Of course, I agree that it's wrong to mock God and anything that is from Him or of Him, but I believe that mocking in general is wrong.
Here are a few scriptures that I believe show that mocking is wrong in general:
Proverbs 17:5 (ESV)--Whoever mocks the poor insults his Maker; he who is glad at calamity will not go unpunished.
Acts 2:13 (ESV)--But others mocking said, “They are filled with new wine.”
Proverbs 3:34 (ESV)-- Toward the scorners he is scornful, but to the humble he gives favor.
Proverbs 1:22 (ESV)-- “How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple? How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing and fools hate knowledge?
What? Of course it's applied to God and Jesus.
Ok, neat, you have no problem with a person making a mockery of God and Jesus by approving that they are likened to them, but don't mock that mocker of God...there's a word for this, maybe even a few...
No one is mocking the poor here; fails to apply that mocking in general is wrong since it is specific.
Acts 2:4 "And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost," in verse 13 they were mocking those with the Holy Spirit.
Talking about scorning the scournful of the Lord in the previous verse
God is calling scoffers towards Him fools.
And yet you don't think that someone such as Trump approving of being likened to the "King of Israel" and the "second coming of god" isn't a mockery to God Himself? You know who else makes a mockery of God-the-Father and God-the-Son by likening himself to them?
I will mock the mocker who makes a mockery of God-the-Father and God-the-Son.
All I can say is that I make a distinction between exposing evil and mocking. By all means, expose the evil things that our president is doing or saying, but I don't believe that mocking him in this fashion is a good thing. It appears to me to be coming from the flesh and not the Spirit.
And not a single word, again, about someone (Trump) making a mockery of God-the-Father and God-the-Son...
It comes from both sides. I just saw someone taking a picture of Trump and doing terrible things to it in some news headlines -- I didn't click on the story since I didn't want to see or read more. There seems so much hate on both sides. It's not the criticizing that I was criticizing. :) It's the mocking. It never seems to end...........
