Catholicism was about power, control, and money, intermingled with politics/government. The religion sought dominance, its doctrine superseded biblical christian teachings, and they restricted scriptures to the church alone. New English translations from uncorrupted Greek manuscripts threatened the churches control and influence over the masses, so a violent response was invoked to squash all forms of Christian teachings that weren't in direct compliance with the Roman Church. They wanted the entire faith to be under their subjection, and resorted to violent methods to retain 100% authority. In my opinion, if Catholics were Christians, they would not have killed dissenters, and burning bibles was an abomination.

It is happening in South American countries where the RCC is dominant.

You are mistaking a system for the reality with individual belief.

Christianity is a believe in Jesus as Saviour, the RCC is a system that believes that believe in it is salvation.
Individual Catholics may be Christian but the RCC is not Christian.

@DoveSpirit05 To jump to the defence of the Catholics, those people in South America and maybe even Central America that kill Christians aren't a true representation of what Catholicism really is, and any true Catholic follower of Jesus Christ would tell you that.

And if you look throughout history horrible things have happened, but there were still a minority that did not get involved in the evil that was going on around them, we could say protestant history was stained by the treatment of others with a different colour of skin, but we know that assaulting, slaughtering or mistreating Africans, Aboriginals, Native Americans, was not a Christian thing to do, and was not right in the eyes of Jesus.

A Catholic will never agree that they lack the truth because they have their own agenda fed to them since the Catholic church took over simple Christianity and added a mixture of all sorts of pagan and Roman influences. And I don't say that to deliberately offend Catholic brothers and sisters but because it is true and hopefully they will see it one day.

Religion, not just Catholicism, but Religions of every stripe, all around the world, is/are steeped with guilt and punishment. (The 'gods' are angry, and the solution [we are all taught] is for the adherents to do something to appease their god"/"gods"/"God.")

And all religions seem to dictate that some form of punishment is the required "sacrifice." It is usually the 'death' of someone or something...… and the more demonstratively violent that death, the better. (Just read your own Old Testament)

Interestingly, it is most often ANYONE who does not follow the tenants of the locally accepted 'religion' that is seen as the most offensive to the hometown 'god'/'gods.'

do you know how many wars were started for no good reason by the instigation of the jesuits telling the leaders of countries to go to war in the last 200 years ? (possibly all of them, but difficult to verify, except for the spirit of them) .....

i.e. millions, maybe a billion? , deaths / blood shed/ that is being held against them, as written in God's Word.

I hate to agree with such posts but the Catholics in their time were unkind to their opponents. I am not saying the Catholics are not Christian, or that protestants in their time were not as just as bad, but there was a time they ruled with an iron hand. You would not have wanted to speak out against the church in her time.

Hello Rocky,

To be fair, it was predominately Christian kings and princes who 'ruled with an iron hand' however much or little they were influenced by the bishops of the Church.

CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Theodosius I

And just about 1000 years from the beginning of Christian kings to the beginning of the rejection of the authority of the Church by Christian kings...

He will rule them with an iron rod. Like clay vessels will they be smashed,

Their rebellion was not unforseen:

Why do the nations protest and the peoples grumble in vain?

Kings on earth rise up and princes plot together against the LORD and his anointed:

"Let us break their shackles and cast off their chains!
"

You too! Are welcome to come to the wedding feast of the Lamb of God!

Peace be with you!
