@Waiting on him Back a bit you said
Not at all, she’d most likely cover her whole body if she could afford it.

I am a nurse in a cardiac ICU. I am also pretty heavily tattooed. I am a well educated, well rounded nurse, and was raised with strong morals and manners. .. I am an extremely traditional person.

Because they are now so hugely and seemingly unregrettedly so widespread, would you agree that their mainstreaming inevitably adds quite some scope for the increase of faith based designs?

Most of my friends have at least one and so do many women I know in their 40s.

I ... have regretted getting it many times. It is old, faded and on my forearm!!! I hold not a thing against anyone who has a tattoo as, just about everyone I know has at least one!
@Nancy Anyway, whatever else, their profusion and mainstreaming is just plain obvious.

Yes, main stream worldly much more so. I would say there are far more non believers who have tattoos than do Christians. I do not say it is a sin because:

"All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable."
1 Corinthians 6:12a

I think you should by now know where I stand on tats. Not a sin but, I don't care for them.
God Bless

I would tell a teen not to get any tattoos till they're in their 20's...
but if someone 18 really wanted one, I don't see how you could stop them or what is radically wrong with it.
@GodsGrace I guess they would say it's all about becoming an adult, really. Hence I suppose so many young Christians wanting to testify boldly right from the start of their adult lives with some faith based inking.

@Nancy I can see how this may be a Godly perspective; first ink is all bound up with becoming an adult but young believers should weigh up whether faith based ink will be profitable for them or not.

No, we don't talk much about tattoos but if I do get one it is going to look like this....

Even if you don't have it done, they are so very widespread now and some Christians seem to get a lot of joy going ahead in the parlor and having a faith based design injected.

@RainAndIceCream FYI....did you see the poll, above (and thread)?
Yes, I did see the poll. I just answered it since I'm also listening to the music offering in the MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thread.
Just as a point of note, while I respect those who choose to get tattoo's I do not have any myself. I love art, and appreciate those who feel led to carry it on their flesh however, I'm not so inclined.
I do not hold to committing art upon myself when a tattoo is something that will last forever in my flesh. And in the event I one day decide I'd like to change it to something else, as I move my art at home about on occasion to bring a different look to each room, that is not do-able with tatt's. As you may know.

@RainAndIceCream Thanks for your poll vote. I see that you do basically agree with the assertion about the increased opportunities for faith based designs now.

It used to be such a man thing, but now in North America apparently statistics show that 59%-70% or more of parlor clients are women.

I saw a quote from the Bible Belt which seems to show just how widespread it is now.

All things in God's own time. There is no place God is not found. Even in delivering messengers of his truth to the world through the quiet ministry of ink.
The world itself is testament of God, so none are with excuse to say they never knew he was there. :) The wonderful news I received some time ago , as we're speaking of tattoo's, is the introduction of non-toxic inks that are more safe for the tattooed. What a blessing.

@RainAndIceCream

PS: This is the quote I mentioned:

(maybe some designs are angel related, or with Bible ref./verses.)

Around here (Bible Belt), it is common, especially among evangelical Christians, for the girls under about 40 to have religious tattoos. More do than don't, especially when you get to the under 30 crowd. I hardly know any female at church that is under 30 that does not have a tattoo.

@RainAndIceCream Thanks for the thoughtful comment.

Sounds like you really welcome the undoubted improvement in tattoo ink quality that has emerged in more recent years. This short informational video from a veteran professional seems to make pretty well exactly the same point as you do.

Although decades back the industry and its clients were typically identified with male artists and their male clients especially in port cities, what you observe and what the nice lady in the informational video says seem to have mainstreamed the environment and made it a lot more womanly also to the extent that many parlors are now more like salons and a much larger proportion of clients of both genders seems to have increased their confidence to receive inkings in artistic self expression and, in the case of many Christians, in faith testimony designs that are proven conversation-starters.

You mentioned messengers of truth through the quiet ministry of ink: It seems like the tattoo artist profession, long an almost wholly male preserve, has been opening up a lot to women; do you think it would be a good idea for more Christians - not least Christian women - to pursue this as a wholesome and constructive line of work as a career?

Your welcome @farouk I have a couple of pre-believer tats but since becoming a believer, I have not had the inclination to add more....even those that may give God the glory.
Hi @Angelina Did you see lately how the poll results are developing so far?

I'm sure you are thoroughly confirmed in your own views, anyway.

Seems that there is quite a variety of views subscribed to so far, from the poll results.
