I read about someone in the South American rain forest 'last century', cutting thru the undergrowth, getting bit by a known venomous (or poisonous?) viper, and the doctors in charge of the expedition saw it happen, and were sure that man was going to drop dead in a few minutes.
I have no idea what if any faith that man had or was associated with.
He, to their surprise, remained calm, did what was good and right (may be explained later, God Willing) ,
did not ask the doctors nor even go to them for help , and
he returned straightaway to working as he had been, with scarcely a let up.....
(they later followed up themselves, and confirmed this back in their home-country , Britain).

This really is not , in this case, a matter of faith, although many "of faith", do not have such good results at all.

Interesting story. Maybe the man was allowed to live because God might have had future big plans for him? Oh gosh, we could speculate forever on how God could use a man! Lol

I cant get it to insert a quote
Hmmmm....

On the post you want to insert, there should be an icon on the bottom of the post headed Quote Hit that, then go to where you would normally post a new message. There should be an icon on the bottom right of the empty post headed [Insert Quote] then just insert it.

I wouldn't write it if I thought it was NOT in line with scripture and, someone else will ALWAYS say otherwise so...do you have a point? Or of course, you can...and do give YOUR own opinion on this site just like every one else.

"An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and a sign will not be given it, except the sign of Jonah." And He left them and went away."
Matthew 16:4
As noted in my earlier posts (maybe on other threads) , our opinions are here today and gone tomorrow - just like the grass that grows one day and tomorrow is thrown in the furnace....
But God's Word Lasts Forever , True and Faithful and Unchanging .....

Well, I guess that would be your opinion! LOL! j/k!
Yes it will wither, but how do we know what one writes might not make someone think about something related to the post? I like to be made to think...it has taught me much, even from those I do not agree with on some doctrinal issues.

Yes good ! That incident was communicated to many others first in Britain, and later in the USA, who were willing to receive it.

It is surprising to me still how many people refuse to accept things outside of their ... sphere of living ? Their own ideas ? whatever..

But those who learned from it, many were helped and are still being helped worldwide.... and many never hear of it. And many refuse to believe it.

(footnote: The very strange unexpected aspects of this story, "the rest of the story", is potentially life-changing (totally in line with all Jesus' people and God's Word) , and very strangely , when it is published, 'pillars in society' and in church, etc, i.e men held up in esteem (and those who hold them in esteem) , are the ones most likely to reject it ! ? )

Well , the point isn't at all about men's opinions, other than in passing,
but rather that God's Word is always True and Faithful - God is always right, never wrong, and always He Is Trustworthy.

Who has the "final word" ?

(according to all Scripture , considering the instructions and methods given by God to everyone in Christ Jesus)
Hello J77,
Here is an instructive portion of scripture that helps us;
11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of:

17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.

19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

Spirit directed and controlled Kingdom living is an obedient serving in the Kingdom of God as it spreads worldwide.
When people drift off into fantasy, we can only offer scriptural teaching to indicate to them where they are departing.

Not disagreeing with you here Joseph...I filter everything through the Word...

Hello Truther,

Mark 16:16-18
"16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Personally, I do believe these things do still happen but only in the service of Christ. Like the serpent that Paul shook off his hand into the fire Acts 28:5, and...he had no ill effects. Paul was just beginning to spread the Gospel to the Gentiles (being in service to Christ and furthering God's Kingdom)

Tongues, I have never had them. Faked them for a bit to "fit in that Church". I did not last there as they all spoke at the same time, never ever an interpreter and I'm sorry but, it made the hair on the nape of my neck rise. I have a brother and a sister who "pray in tongues". This is something I have desired over the years and have asked God for this gift to no adieu. "Do all speak in tongues...?" No so...I'm okay with that. The so called Angelic language they tell me about does not compute with me, but I will never say they are wrong in what they practice as I simply just do not know. All I can think of when hearing the is, all the angels/messengers who appeared to others in the bible, spoke in the persons native language. So, I CAN see God using the gift of tongues through many missionaries and such, and the same with the healing as, God does NOT choose to heal everybody so...my take on this is that God does ALL healing!
I can also picture one of the Apostles taking a drink of something an enemy would give him to perhaps put him off his mission. And, casting out demons I do believe happens but, I also believe this is a special ministry in and of itself, and one would have to be very bold in their faith and strong in their knowledge of The Word.
So...that is my own opinion :)
All of these things happened to and around the Apostles.
And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch.

13 And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them.

14 And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)

15 Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

16 There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.

OP
No one on this board has:

1]traveled to heaven and back

5]received a postcard from "Luke"

I saw Luke travel to me 17 years before I decoded the Shroud of Turin. Coming to you is more powerful a message.

Just because you have never ever experienced these things, doesn't mean they have never ever been experienced by millions of believers around the world. I am just one person out of the millions....

You and others make this claim, the bible and history teach otherwise.
Scripture is the rule of faith and practice, not your experience.
Allow me to ask you a question.
Years ago I stood face to face with a middle-age woman who was totally sincere and told me the angel Moroni had appeared to her in her living room, and told her the book of Mormon was a true word from God.
Angelina, if you were there how would you respond to this woman?
She had an experience that you did not have and others have made similar claims.
Would you tell her it was a good thing?
Would you pray and seek that same experience?

We live in a day when people have turned from truth to fables so it should not be a surprise that some even on message boards have been deceived into such false ideas.

No one on this board has:

1]traveled to heaven and back

2]Had God-given visions

3]speak or pray in tongues

4]raised the dead

5]received a postcard from "Luke"

6] had any contact with Apostles

7] seen the Virgin Mary

8] been given visions

9] "move" in the gifts

10] seen demons flying around in church

11] seen demons chasing squirrels in their attic

12] bound satan

13] spoken rhema words

14] received a "double portion"

15] detecting auras

16] believing God for a miracle

17] been "slain in the Spirit"

18] name it and claim it

19 ] and of course claiming the old standby "the anointing breaks the yoke"

20]Had bouts of "holy laughter"

These and other such fabrications are offered as a poor substitute for the faith ONCE GIVEN TO THE SAINTS
Many claim these and more but need to examine their claims in light of scripture, not claim their experiences trump scripture.

Yep!! And whatever church or believer has satan bound, why do you keep releasing him?!

I have proved his #5 to be wrong.

God's Kingdom coming to you means hes with you. Or do you think perfect strangers with lot of money just pick out people to send postcards to? And it was so long ago.. it can't be related to our time.. "writing going good Mr Brian"

hahaha - good question !

(see in the New Testament what the true believers following God and Jesus did and do.... it is more accurate than what you can see today in almost any place you go or see or hear about)

One thing I have learned in my many years of being a believer and working in a variety of ministries is not to make assumptions about a subject I have never had first hand experience in. If something is from the Spirit of God and someone questions the validity of such things, it is their opinion. If they doubt that God can move in the areas in re: to the O/P. That is fine. Just remember, God will forgive anyone who speaks a word against the *Son of Man [Jesus]. God will never forgive anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit, now or ever.

Nobody here can explain why I've decoded the Shroud of Turin + have a postcard from Luke from 17 years before.

These two things are impossible to be seen together that many years apart.

1 John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world.
