how to stop it?

There are some members who are nurses on here. But I wouldn't recommend stopping it, unless told otherwise by your doctor, if you don't think you need it anymore, go for a check up with your doctor first.

@Rita might be able to tell you a bit more.

I have a few friends who are on meds, but none of them have anything good to say about them. They can't wait to get off.

My doctor, who is a geriatric specialist, asked me how I was coping with the loss of my wife. I told him that a few glasses of wine throughout the day tends to take off the sharp edge of the experience. He told me that 85% of his patients were using the same approach. He didn't seem to be into the big pharma stuff and never suggested an alternative.

I was employing the Biblical prescription,

Give strong drink to him who is perishing,
And wine to him whose life is bitter.
Let him drink and forget his poverty
And remember his trouble no more. Proverbs 31

Wine is a gift to mankind as a symbol of joy and gladness,

"Wine to gladden the heart of man" Psalm 104.

"Go then, eat your bread in happiness and drink your wine with a cheerful heart; for God has already approved your works." Ecclesiastes 9:7

CBDs worked for many, but im hearing kratom too fwiw. best of luck to you.
vegetable-sourced omega3 helps long-term too i think, but the endocannabinoid system is neglected in most ppl imo. We have a "war on drugs" but ppl are taking more rx than ever?

I am not a nurse, I work in care but do not have medical training. I know from experience with my son that many anti depressant need to be tapered off - if you just stop them you could cause yourself harm. It is always better to talk to the doctors and get their advice. Definitely do not just come of them.
I have been on a number of anti depressants over the years, long time ago now. Some you can reduce without any side effects, but others need to be reduce gradually over a period of time. None of us can really advise you as we do not know the full medical history of why you are on them, or your circumstances with regards to whether you still need help.

Leagally, it's always recommended to do so under a health care practitioners guidance. It's not hard to do with proper (Godly) testing and evaluation.
"DEAD DOCTORS DONT LIE"

which in english means you are recommending that ppl take health advice from someone who will statistically not live as long as they will!

I was on an antidepressant for decades. Never thought I would be able to come off of it, but it has been nearly a year now of no longer taking it. There were two times in the past I tried to stop taking it and the withdraws were ugly. The first time was under a doctors supervision and he ended up saying ‘I will never take her off of it again.’

This last time ...no withdraws. No doctors. The doctor still does not know I came off of it. I remember one night asking God to walk me free from it, to lead me out of it. He did. I fought that pill for what felt like forever...yet then it was easy which makes no sense. Don’t give up hope. Consider He knows when the time is right. Before, I thought I needed the pill to cope, but now He helps in ways that pill never did.

Not at all.

Don't take advice from any such, or from anyone, or from any system, that or who is notoriously failing.

avoid allopaths ("symptom treaters") at all costs, imo,
DEAD DOCTORS DONT LIE
Right. The 'newer', unimproved, terrible consequences have cost people and nations trillions of dollars needlessly....

though meds may prevent disastrous consequences one should consider that one is in charge of what they entertain in their minds and hearts. you may not prevent a thought or felling coming to the forefront but know you don't have to entertain it.

note Jesus was tempted the enemy was able to bring a thought to mind, but Jesus didn't entertain it. also note:

Luk 4:13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

Jesus being in the flesh was in the place where we are. if you have any desired expectation of getting well one must become acutely aware of what triggers the effects. deal with it. find its source in the life you've lived so far, if you are born again bring these issues before the Lord.

ask the Lord to replace what you think with what He knows you should think.

Pro 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.

and you can do something about what you think. one can't control the world around them and what people do but you can control what you think and feel emotionally.

I think it’s one thing to discuss whether someone should go to a health care professional , but can you please take into account that Holy999 is already on medication and it’s important to be wise here and guide him in a sensible way with regards to coming off his meds, if in fact that is the right thing for him to do - which it may not be.

Holy, you should talk to your doctor about this. The doctor will explain to you how to do that. Usually, it's by reducing the medication little by little over time....but please consult your doctor.

Depression can also be caused by low level of Vitamin D, and also an underactive Thyroid. These can be checked by a simple blood test.

Agree and ever since I posted here I have regretted what I said. When I saw the thread with the question how to stop it. Mostly I wanted them to know it is possible. But I need to clarify. Only an opinion but I’m not so much for the doctor needs to help you come of the antidepressant so it is not dangerous, as even they sometimes do not know what lurks in a persons past or mind left unresolved. In no way did I mean someone should stop cold turkey. I do not know no other way to get across what I meant, other than to share my own experience. Hate it because it sounds like me but I’m asking any wanting to stop an antidepressant, to consider the One who knows what is needed most and it isn’t doctors (who make it safe) but instead God. I wrestled to come off the antidepressant and I first thought God just wasn’t there to help. But looking back, first He helped address the panic attacks and obsessive compulsive disorder. Then some truths came out in my family how I had been lied to all my life about who my father was. No doctor could have saw the need for that to come out. So many other things. So for me when it came time to come off the medication...a lot had been visited before doing so. If we tell someone to come off their medicine today, or even if a doctor helps them ....both are dangerous if in their mind are thoughts of killing themselves, toxic past relationships, thoughts, and voices. sometimes when we think God hasn’t answered He is working on helping resolve those things
before answering (which is answering)the prayer to stop an antidepressant. His word says that anything received with thanksgiving ...that may even include antidepressant given by a doctor with a snake symbol on their jacket. All throughout the NT it speaks of being able to bear it. Only suggesting patience and hope that by asking God ‘how to stop’ maybe He has already begun the work needed to bear ....eliminating the dangerous things lurking so it is not dangerous. Seen too many people come off their medicine, one recently who said they were close to a nervous breakdown from all the stuff suppressed coming up. It took a while and more medicine to get them stable again. Do think it is a false stability provided, a numbness, but still, isn’t it God who reveals things and heals them in His way? Just want to clear up that I did not mean to say stop your antidepressant to the OP, but instead encourage them to ask the One who can and maybe be patient that He may start at the source and not the pill...
