Hello, I am not really good at English so please take a look at this post little bit slowly :)

I am a just member of local college/university students service church.

I was having bible studying with other people and one of our people in the bible study group asked one question to the Pastor and to us.

However, the pastor and we didn't have an exact(or any reasonable) answer to understand that question.

The question was about equality of human beings.

The guy who asked that question went to Africa as a missionary for few weeks. He said that he did a good job and enjoyed being there with people in Africa.

People in that village asked him this,

"We(or I) want to believe your God(Jesus) but i have one thing to ask, what is the reason of being sinned?

You guys(people in Europe, USA, Canada, some countries in Asia) are living very well, can go to school, can eat whatever you want, can go to hospital, can play, ......

but we can't.

We have sin to confess but why should we take these difficulties and hardships in our lives?

Did our ancestors do something really bad so that we are being paid for that? "

------------

I don't remember what exaclty he told me but question was like that.

SUmmary:
People in America for example live very well because they can eat, play, sleep, work, do whatever they want(like we do).
But, people in Africa, especially children cannot wash a lot, go to hospital, eat enoughly, and so on.

What should i tell him about this problem?

The pastor said that he doesn't have exact answer for that so he said he will look about it more.

Can anyone help me with this answer?

Thanks and Regards,

Chris-

Matthew 5:3 and Luke 6:20 cover alot of ground about this area, there is no sin in being poor.

You can answer Him this. We are all sinners and all fall short of the glory of God. Being poor is no punisment for sin, as neither being rich. The rich have everything to loose whilst the poor have everything to gain. Being wealthy is a burden which few carry well and usuallyy only leads to more sin. It is hard for a rich man to come to Christ for he has much to loose , A richman thinks because he has wealth and comfort and can have anything he wants, that he has everything, but he has lost the best thing to gain what he has, where the poor who think they have nothing, because they are hungry, cold, and misreable, have everything because He has Jesus.

We live in an imperfect world and because of this we live with things like disasters, disease, famine, pestilence and more. We also live with each other in our societies, because we are also faulty, that can show in things like corruption and unjust and incompetent leadership.

There is no one reason why people live in poverty, there are many reasons. It is just one of the outcomes of living in a imperfect world.

Also your views on Europe, Americas and Asia is maybe distorted by Media. People live in poverty in these nations also. There are people living and sleeping on the streets of these nations who go without many things and live in desperation.

I agree with Adstar, riches and poverty have nothing to do with sin or non sin. The riches people in the world are usually the most sinful, and they keep getting richer. Africa is not poor because God hates it. Africa is poor because the world system is extremely corrupt and has been exploiting the Dark Continent for centuries. Remember, Jesus said this world is not His kingdom. Keep your faith and eyes on Him and soon yyou will have riches in heaven.

Hi Chris,
I watched a tv special twice. It was about the "Lost Boys" of Sudan, children who grew up from the mass genocide in that region that took place. They came to America via the gratuity of some evangelicals here. They were excited and anticipated great things for themselves. In the end they almost all became dissillusioned and despondent over the way things turned out. America presented hardships to them that were too difficult to overcome, and the presence of other evils and immoralities caused them to be disheartened.

Genocide and oppression are probably the worst of things that can happen to us as human beings. And the evils of being separated from the God of love has taken its toll on all humanity. Why God has chosen one child to be born to affluent parents in America, and another child to be born in Rawanda with little to survive on is a mystery. Many cannot accept the exisistence of a loving God on this matter alone.

"There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they
suffered such things?I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower
in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, Nay: but,
except
ye repent
, ye shall all likewise perish." Lk 13:1-4
The rations of sin is death. We all die as a result of our separation from the Father of Spirits, some more horrbly than others. Death is cruel and disease is unnatural and ugly. Should there be no expectation of a heavenly hope, the truth that God will one day make right every wrong ever done by men, and the flesh will be changed into a glorious state of existence at His coming, then all is in vain. Those without the hope and expectation of salvation see only this life and no more. They will be destroyed and redeemed in other ways not too pleasent to consider.i.e., the lake of fire. For us, those who believe on the Cross of Christ, we have the expectation of being changed into His image, and whatever this world has for us is not of any value, whether good or bad. It is all dung and refuse, passing away and corruptible. Set your mind on things above, not on what is beneath, for our home is in the celestials, where Christ our Savior is.

The only answer I can think of from the bible is this:

Ecclesiastes 9:1 "All this I have seen, and there was an applying of my heart to every work that has been done under the sun, [during] the time that MAN HAS DOMINATED MAN to his injury"

Human rulership has been disasterous for mankind...especially in Africa. Corruption is to blame. Greed is to blame....the men who rule the nations are to blame.

The west is a little different because its been founded by christians. They have a little more of Gods influence in the way they manage their societies by using Gods word the bible as a foundation for their laws (although thats changing for the worse in modern times)

If it were not for Gods word the bible, the west would be no different to Africa and we would be experiencing the same problems that Africa has endured for a very long time.

You are confusing a cultural question with a spiritual one.

Spiritually, all men are judged before God as to whether they have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior or not.
It is a matter of the heart, not the culture.

The Bible does not promise that prosperity will accompany spiritual conversion.
On the contrary it warns that it is more likely that adversity accompany such a decision.
European and Asian history is full of examples of such things.
Africa does not stand alone in the matter of physical despair and disadvantage.

The notion that prosperity must accompany Christian discipleship is a lie perpetuated by those who crave worldly success, not spiritual victory.

Look around and tell me what your eyes see. You do not have to be a Biblical prophet to know what is going on.

The history of African culture and its traditional values do not coincide with those of Europe or the United States.
That they ought to is a fallacy impressed upon the African people by the colonial era.

Today there is much that needs to be done to improve the life and times of the people of Africa.
African culture and life cannot be improved by using the United States as a model.
Only lawlessness and misery will result from such an effort.

America and Europe will only suck the life out of Africa.
Jesus will give it.

In providing a testimony, not only to Africans, but all races of people, one should point out that God created them all on the 6th Day, except for the Adamic race, and they were "very good" [Gen. 1:31]. And, though God's covenant went with Abraham [and Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph thereafter], all races of people are equal inheritors thereof upon acceptance of Christ.

I had a missionary tell me that in African countries where Christianity is the predominent religion, the quality of life is not all that bad. He also said that in countries that are primarily Islamic, things are really bad. But you could argue that even in Christian Africa countries such as Ghana, that the quality of life there isn't up to western standards.

Your post reminds me of a question a guy asked the Lord Jesus Christ, "Master, why was this man born blind--because of his sins or his father's sins"? What did Jesus answer? Neither, but that he might glorify God. So, the Lord was saying this man wasn't born blind because of his sins or his ancestor's sins. And you argue whether being in poverty is worse than being born blind? Being blind is very tough it seems to me--you talk about unfair--being born blind is pretty unfair if you ask me. So, the problems of poverty in African countries are not the result of individual's sins. I think they are the result of oppressive governments that are demonically controlled and other factors in the spirit realm all of which probably can't be known.

And don't worry, America will not be rich much longer.

I have heard and seen much the same in my own travels around the world. Christianity is the best possible basis for a community and a nation. Not communism, not democracy and certainly not Islam.

Not only will America not be rich much longer, but it won't be America either.

What I have learned from those that follow that 'orthodoxy' is that it is all about reparations.

As long as those who were never slaves demand reparations from those who never owned slaves, this issue is not going to go away.

Christianity is about victory in Christ, not victimhood due to your fellow man.
