I heard this when I was in my room, came out and saw who was speaking on the tv, saw Michelle Obama and was wowed by this part of her speech, I like what she said here and it's quite Biblical⬇

"Empathy: that's something I've been thinking a lot about lately. The ability to walk in someone else's shoes; the recognition that someone else's experience has value, too. Most of us practice this without a second thought. If we see someone suffering or struggling, we don't stand in judgment. We reach out because, "There, but for the grace of God, go I." It is not a hard concept to grasp. It's what we teach our children."

The tragedy for me in the Trump administration is that he didn't realize Americans want a President they can trust -- someone who doesn't create chaos and confusion but someone we feel cares about us all. He would be more popular today than when he was elected. He could have won me over even though I didn't vote for him.

I found a copy of a letter I wrote President Trump in April 2017. It is blunt, but it was the truth about how I felt. I am still sad about the situation.

Dear Mr. President,

Do you really not know why people are interested in your tax returns? How could that be true? You aren't stupid. You know very well why.

If you are getting a kick out of believing releasing tax returns is done only when people are running for office and irrelevant afterwards, what does that say about your character? It might say you'll be a one-term President; but I'd rather not say what I think it says about your character. For me, the election has nothing to do with it. You said you would release them and you haven't. It's that simple.

I'll admit I didn't vote for you. I didn't like any of the candidates. Now the election is over as you said. Now I would like to have a President I could trust. It was tragic to me that when you said Syria had used chemical weapons that I couldn't believe you. I couldn't take your word for it. Sorry. You have said too many things in the past that turned out not to be true. Sorry. I was convinced when the intelligence agencies and military weighed in along with the British and Australian governments. That is sad to me.

It is also sad to me that your administration seems bent on trying to be so secretive. What could be so bad about people knowing who visits the White House? Oh well, I guess we may learn who did by listening to CNN' or maybe Wiki-leaks can get the log -- and hope they got their facts straight. If that what you want? Don't you have anyone in the White House to tell you that if you don't provide facts and I do mean real facts not propaganda, that people will believe what other sources say. If CNN said Russians or criminals were visiting the White House, I just might believe it. I'd say, "So that's what he wanted to hide."

You are your own worst enemy in my opinion. You do not know how to build trust, real trust. It is not sophisticated or clever to break your word. It is cynical and undermines the trust of the American people.

I didn't listen to the speech but have read the transcript. I liked the speech, particularly the following:

And I know that regardless of our race, age, religion, or politics, when we close out the noise and the fear and truly open our hearts, we know that what's going on in this country is just not right. This is not who we want to be.

So what do we do now? What's our strategy? Over the past four years, a lot of people have asked me, "When others are going so low, does going high still really work?" My answer: going high is the only thing that works, because when we go low, when we use those same tactics of degrading and dehumanizing others, we just become part of the ugly noise that's drowning out everything else. We degrade ourselves. We degrade the very causes for which we fight.

But let's be clear: going high does not mean putting on a smile and saying nice things when confronted by viciousness and cruelty. Going high means taking the harder path. It means scraping and clawing our way to that mountain top. Going high means standing fierce against hatred while remembering that we are one nation under God, and if we want to survive, we've got to find a way to live together and work together across our differences.

In saying this, I think she caught well the mood of the nation. America is tired of all of the bad-tempered hostility.

Why do people care about the dumb stuff (Trump's tax returns. Obama's birth certificate)?

I do not understand, I guess. I'm not much of a political guy so political games sometimes go over my head.

We know Biden and Harris are dishonest. I am not overly trusting of Trump. I can't think of a reason to doubt Pence (I do not know much about him).

So who does that leave?

I guess that's the pitfalls of a two party system.
I'll vote Trump.

I agree with your Obama/Biden sentiments perfectly, and your conclusion as to voting for Trump, -- but disagree with you position that we don't have "much" of a choice. In my view, we have who I believe is the greatest President in United States History, and that's with an Opposition Party that not only REFUSES to do what is best for the American people, but are complicit and/or guilty of TREASON.

And Trump has withstood all their attempts to destroy him, AND ACCOMPLISHED MORE in his term than any President since Roosevelt during WWII who had eminent support from BOTH PARTIES and the AMERICAN CITIZENS.

I believe that GOD has given the United States a choice between "Jesus" and "Barabbas", and we see the DISHONEST MEDIA shouting for "Barabbas".

The problem here is it is a political game - win at all costs.

We have Biden (who has been a racist and lied about his qualifications many times... he is a conman. ). But then we have the Republican Party that often panders to Christianity. I guess at least pandering is something, but it is all about power, not about our nation.

Trump has been the only President that I know of who is not making a living off politics (he gives his salary away). In TN we had a Democrat governor who did the same.

But to look at Biden, who has lived off the American people most of his life. He has been in power for over half a century. His claim that he is the person to change things is sickening.

I think it goes back to the brain surgery issue. If you need to have brain surgery and the best is immoral, the moral one is not do good, who do you pick?
