All of which is serious stuff that the former president needs held accountable for. When I was associated with the GARBC (If I remember right) me and some buddies at youth camp took some boats out when we were supposed to be in chapel. A day did not go by until I was before the leadership giving an account of what happened and I had to put together an explanation good enough for them to believe I would not do that a second time.

We represent Christ on the earth!

All of which is serious stuff!

The board at Liberty University has known for years and years that Falwell Jr. was a bad egg. It's just that more details are coming out now and making the front pages of some sites. Why did the board tolerate his antics for so long? I think anyone could probably guess right.

Both Falwell and pool boy #1 say the sex was between Mrs. Falwell and the pool boy only while Falwell watched. I didn't buy that story when I heard it; and now a second pool boy came forward and said someone should tell the whole truth. He didn't say himself what he knew -- but it was obvious to me since pool boy #1 is trying to look completely straight himself and of course Falwell wants to look straight.

Maybe Michael Cohen will say more about the photograph he bought from the pool boy. So far as I know, all he's said so far is what he's said for a while now, that it was pretty bad or something like that. It's pretty bad when Cohen, Trump lawyer, is making a blackmail payment to get a photo back since the photo could damage Falwell. If it damaged Falwell, it could have damaged Trump's 2016 campaign. Who paid the blackmail? I don't know. It could have been either Falwell or Trump.

It was dear to the heart of Jerry Falwell Sr that all have an opportunity to receive a college degree.. This scandal would not have set well with him!

It amazes me when people think their children are the best qualified to take over for them. Whom did Falwell Sr. care more about: The students at Liberty or his dynasty? It's sad when people allow their personal feelings cloud their judgment.

This isn't that much different than several other pastor's of large organizations that have had issues.

The board of directors are not usually equipped for handling these situations. The only thing they do is sit quietly and hope things change for the better instead of doing what should have been done a long time ago.
There's always a new building program, fundraising initiative, expansion program that they are in the middle of that they want to see to conclusion.
I know of one pastor that got a building program going that created a huge amount of debt that if there was a senior pastoral change the church would go bankrupt. So he got to keep his job when people were wanting someone better. (Not very personable and had major issues with sermon delivery)
And those in the know knew exactly what he was doing when he did it.

There are ways of changing puppet leadership without it making a huge stink. Christians eating our wounded is so commonplace that we don't seem to do things any other way.
I'm sure that Jerry JR believed that he was entitled to the position as well as all the misappropriation of funds and positions he gave to friends. And was willing to fight with all the lawyers he could afford with his ill gotten gains.

His wife is another story.

How in the world did she ever think that she would not be blackmailed? That money her husband was making was just as much a prison as it was liberty to do as she pleased. Of course the pool boys blackmailed her and claimed outrageous things when they didn't get the money they wanted. They can now sell a "Tell All" book detailing anything that they can dream up and get the money they wanted all along.

I guess they forget the Bible studies of David's kid and Gideon's son.

Back when I applied for colleges, I got accepted into Liberty University. I ended up unable to go, because it was very expensive, even with scholarship. Plus my mom didn't want me to move to Virginia.

More news about Falwell, Jr. I find it hard to believe. It sounds as if he might have a drinking problem. It would explain some of the other things too. It is bad news, but the good news is he can stop drinking if that's the problem.

911 Call From Intoxicated Jerry Falwell Jr.’s House Last Month Describes ‘A Lot Of Blood’

On Aug. 31, Liberty’s board of trustees announced a comprehensive investigation by an outside firm of Jerry Falwell Jr.’s tenure as president. Earlier that morning, around 2:30 a.m., Bedford County dispatchers received a 911 call from Becki Falwell.

She described being at church around 11 p.m. and receiving a call from her husband, who said he was bleeding after a fall down the stairs. Finding the doors locked when she got home, she used a chair to break through the back door.

The dispatcher asked whether her husband had been drinking alcohol; Becki Falwell said “yes.” When asked if he had been drinking “heavily,” she said, “I’m not going to answer that question.”

The dispatcher explained that alcohol thins the blood and could account for the excessive bleeding, and restated the question.

“The more I tell you the name, the more you’re going to understand why we’re not talking to you right now,” Becki Falwell said. Dispatch logs, obtained by HuffPost via a public records request, state that “He won’t let her take him to the hospital as he is stubborn. Caller was not forthcoming.”

But medics and emergency responders arrived at the residence later that night. A responder observed lacerations on Jerry Falwell Jr.’s face, including under his left eye, across the bridge of his nose, and above both his right and left eyes. The responder also recorded in a report that Jerry Falwell Jr. said he hit his head on a trash can, and that there was “blood in the area he indicated” as well as “empty alcohol containers.” The officer also noted “Jerry had slurred and slowed speach (sic) and would repeat things already asked.”

Some people simply can't handle the stress. And it sounds like the man is becoming completely unravelled.

What does it profit a man who gains the whole world but yet loses his soul?

He does seem to be coming unglued. Some people can hide their drinking problem for years. They think it helps them handle the stress, but it really creates more stress in the end. Then they want to drink even more.

Usually when a person has a problem in the home a friend is called...but they had to call the police and ambulance?
They should be the last resort...not the first.

And that right there is telling me that they have a huge problem.
Even during this time of pandemic and quarantine I could easily call up a dozen people in my contacts list if I had a problem like she faced.
And I'm a "nobody" and not a somebody like they are.

I think the ambulance might have been called when she was worried about seeing blood around and the injuries he had.

Who could she call? That's an interesting question. If someone is an alcoholic or drug addict, odds are the people on his contact list are people who tolerate his behavior -- or worse even profit from it. I feel sure Falwell doesn't walk into a liquor store or beer distributor himself in Lynchburg. He's too well known, and people would talk. We know he was photographed in a nightclub in Florida that serves booze. He may have felt safe there, thinking no one would recognize him. Buying booze in Lynchburg wouldn't be safe.

I doubt his wife buys it for him. She's also probably well known, and my guess is she doesn't approve of his drinking and wouldn't buy it for him. (That's my impression.) That means he has one or two people who get it for him. Perhaps his wife's personal assistant does -- the one Falwell had the photo taken with where both had unzipped pants. He was holding a glass of something -- he denied it was booze -- but it easily could have been. Where was Falwell's wife when that photo got taken? Was she on board the yacht, or was she at home? At any rate, she wasn't in the photos of the "fun" they were having. I could be wrong, but it suggests to me she doesn't like the fact he's drinking and doesn't like to be around that much. She may be annoyed with the people on his "contacts list" then -- since they could be enabling him and making her life harder. That could explain why she called 911 and not them.

The alcohol might also explain in part why his wife got involved with the pool boy -- while Falwell watched. She may have been missing having marital relations with Falwell since booze can make some men impotent. Some wives also do drink at times with their alcoholic husbands. So maybe she was a little tipsy, wanted to have sex and when Falwell couldn't perform, he suggested the pool boy take over. If she was tipsy, it might have seemed okay to her.

There's so much that's unknown. Another "pool boy" who knew them all said both Falwells and the first pool boy needed to tell all the truth. There was more to it than the pool boy having sex with Becki. I think there probably is. I think Falwell and the pool boy were fooling around too. Maybe Falwell is bisexual or gay. That could be a reason he drinks. I've known people like that -- if sober, they said they were 100% straight, but if they got a few drinks in them, they wanted to do gay things.

It took a while before Bishop Eddie Long's wife got fed up. I don't know if booze was involved, but his wife put up with a lot from him. He preached against gays while taking advantage of young men in his church. His wife stood by him for a long time, but finally concluded their marriage was a sham -- said she was divorcing him only to change her mind to stay with him. Long also bought the young men cars and other fancy things -- just as Falwell rewarded the pool boy with favors.

From reports that I read she was all about the power and position of her husband and wielded it as well...

So claiming that she is an innocent person caught up in this mess is something of a misnomer.

I know that in my house no matter how drunk either one of us got even suggesting something to do with the pool boy would be grounds for divorce in her mind...

The whole thing is nuts.
Granted the pool boy is taking every advantage he can and making as much money as possible from the situation inventing salacious details, as many as possible, so his "tell all" book will sell well.

Who profits?
Coui Bono... always has to be asked here.

Even though there was blood, I'd still have friends to call. Doctors and nurses are in my contact list. Even dentists and vetinarians and pharmacists I could call.

And I'm just an electrician by trade...not the president of the most prestigious, conservative university in America who has over a billion dollars of real estate holdings in numerous states as well as yachts and vacation homes.

Again, I'm a nobody...just a schmuck who doesn't know that many people.

You could be right. She could have been the real problem. She could have been what drove him to drink.

Too many people are writing off Liberty because of Falwell. That isn't right. It is a human institution, not a church. It can be called back to its original purpose and new leadership can be appointed that will serve those purposes. Manmade institutions are always flawed, but it doesn't mean they don't serve valid purposes. Integrity matters and it is my hope that they will pursue integrity through this process. Integrity Declined
