What course is this world on?
And it is THIS world that has a set course.

Most of the first references have to do with the armies of Israel and the Priests
in their courses. Like shifts.
I work 1st shift. and there are usually 12 courses. like monthly shifts.
That reminds me of Zachariah who was working in the temple when Gabriel showed up and gave him a message about John.... (hello John)

Maybe because Jesus was doing most the healing there?

We got babies, and grandma's and grandpa's, and friends, and coworkers.
We got yummy things like warm bread and butter..
don't forget the popcorn..
Yup, popcorn and Onion rings, and chocolatte mousse, and strawberry shortcake..

Now there's only one true place to find true comfort and joy and peace,
and you got that right, it's with the Lord.
But he didn't keep us here without a whole lot of love and happiness either.
It's when this world's happiness is greater than Jesus' happiness,
Then we need to change the course.

Jesus IS THE bridge between man and God. His love allows us to fellowship with God and our Christian family. Our sin caused all His suffering on the cross and causes all division in His body--the church. All it takes is a little sin to grow and spread and infect the whole church.

So...EVERYTHING in moderation is NOT the truth. I'm hearing this theme a lot on CB lately. I wonder why.

But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. That's a beautiful thing about our Savior. We set our affections on Him, and He gives us all the other things we like to, those that are good for us.

My understanding of this passage is that this moderation relates to others. It's also translated being patient or gentle. Let everyone see how you are moderate towards others, I think is the meaning.

I don't look at God's Word this way. I believe He made sure that what He wanted in the Bible got put in there. Kind of like the old Prego commercials--it's in there, lol. I know this is perhaps a childish view, but we are to come to Him like a little child. When the Bible doesn't make sense to me, I look at it as a fault on my part (lack of understanding), not a fault on God's part.... After all, He's perfect; I'm not (in case you haven't noticed :)).

"Very good" is the way God made it "everything". That included people, Adam and Eve! But with people God gave them another option, one that men chose to their detriment and that was the means to that which is not "very good" but evil indeed!

"And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." Gen 2:16-17

Well Time was Created FOR mankind...and like everything Created FOR mankind ...
Mankind feels the need TO fix...Gods "imperfections"????

Man has "changed" Gods "months" numerous times.
Man has "changed" Gods "seasons" to a particular "date".
Man has "changed" Gods "clock"...yes Man Does turn "back Time every fall".

Men certainly Try to Influence a man Thoughts. It's called Philosophy...and tens of thousands of men, pay tens of thousands of dollars, To BE Philosophically induced and Learn HOW TO DO the Same to others...(with or without the others knowledge!)

Yep it's a course...a circular course, promoted, encouraged, advocated BY mankind...as Supreme....and Rewarded By mankind...for its success.

Gods course...is INTERNAL....not flashly, tangible, seen, Secret of sorts.

It can only be observed, by one man of another mans...via an observance of a man's Act.

Getting back on course?
Some people have never been ON "Gods Course" TO get back there.

Meaning:
A man Can Be ON Gods Course...Fully committed to The Lord God...
Yet never learned...To Bridle his Natural human tongue or acts. Freely giving his human thoughts, and reserving his Perfected hearts thoughts and acts.

Man's dilemma...that takes practice...years of practice.

Look first to the "course" of the Apostle Paul:

"For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." II Tim 4:6-8

Paul was writing about his course in his own little "world" as a man of flesh subject to temptations. Consider Jesus:

"For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin." Heb 4:15

The writer of Hebrews was also speaking of the little "world" of the man Jesus tempted in his flesh. Paul recognizes the end of his course, his period of temptation, was at its end as apparently physical death was right before him.

Back to Jesus even before He went to the cross to be crucified:

"And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world,..." John 17:11

Jesus was still on planet Earth so he was not speaking of that "world". He was speaking of the "world" he had already overcome before he had finished his course!

"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." John 16:33

Jesus was speaking of the same world in which he was tempted as per the citation in Hebrews. This overcoming was not of sin itself, but rather of those things which when followed lead us to sin. They are not floating around loose on planet Earth. They are rather in the hearts of men...

"For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever." I John 2:16-17

The world of any man, his own little world, is overcome, then what remains is anything good that we have, if we have anything good. That which is "good" is that which is Alive, rather than the dead carcass of the unbeliever.

Jesus overcame His little world of temptations and with His sacrifice He opened up the Way for anyone who would to similarly overcome. Thus we have received the power of the Holy Ghost, which when allowed to work in us cleans out the dead and brings to Life the flesh of Jesus which we have consumed... if we have!

"Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.
Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day." John 6:53-54

Paul is writing from a prison cell of sorts....he is still working out his own salvation and is writing to these people to tell them to be as he is with his spiritual life, and his goal, moving towards the finish line...a life lived within the Spirit and not of self and the world.

To always be joyful in one's life for the Lord and not self, and therefore rejoice in the Spirit and never in self. He also wants them to be 'gentle' or 'moderate' with firmness and assertiveness in their unwavering stance of faith in the gospel and Christ. It is a life long habit to acquire and maintain. To not be passive in your defense of why you believe, or as you minister, although not to be overly overpowering as well.

And thus to live a life, worry-free, knowing with confidence that the Lord is always near to their spirit, they are never alone. And therefore not to be anxious in this world for anything. Be thankful and give spontaneous thanks for who you now are, in the Lord, and display this thanks of genuine words from your spirit, of prayer, and the uplifting of one's spirit to heaven.

The worlds' course is not a course to life. The spiritual course and life to eternity is alien to it. It moves from one stupor and mindless fog or hazy patch to another foggy area, as a drunk stumbling from one place to another, not worried about anyone else in his way, or in his life, except his own skin.

Joel 2:23 is not indicative of Phil 4:4-6.

@Ziggy "The course of this world" is a phrase Paul uses in Ephesians 2.... (in contrast with the way of grace and faith).
