I'm surprised at those who say they think the Bible contains errors and contradictions.

I'd think we were past that. So then, how is it we teach that which we appear to think is wrong?

Much love!

Also...
Romans and Greeks hated the Jews. The two sides considered the other disgusting on a normal basis.
A centurion believing in Judaism is way outside the norm. The existence of two centurion believers in Judaism is way beyond the scope of reason. Especially a centurion. You didn't rise up through the ranks by risking the ire of your superior officers.

One is sufficient...but the same story told from two perspectives is completely reasonable if you understand the culture.
The same is true for Judas' death.

Then we have the disparities in the story of the "Sending of the 12".
Mark's account differs extremely from the other accounts...and only "extra biblical knowledge" explains the reason.
Personally, I think all of these have very reasonable answers.

Much love!

I'm not aware of anyone rejecting the concept of Scripture interpreting Scripture are you ?

If so I must of missed that post.
My statement is that I believe in using Scripture to interpret Scritpure, not someone's history books, or gardening magazines.

Much love!

Then why is John 1:12 written in all past tense?

Is it over?
That one verse says it is if the past tense is to be believed.

Was John saying "Rocks to be me but sucks to be you" ?

There are glaring contradictions that when studied and understood in proper context are wonderful lessons that we truly need to know.

Then there's the whole reason why Peter climbed out of the boat to walk on water...why would such a notion even occur to him to try that?
Peter knew that he wasn't God like Jesus was. Why would Peter even think to do such a thing?
That's a very good question to consider! I've thought about a number of different reasons, but I've never settled on a particular one. Your thoughts?

Much love!

So bible and church history has no value and neither does learning from books on soil, pH, acidic, alkaline, nutrients, types of diseases etc......... have no value for the farmer ?

Oh I know exactly why...
And I also know that the standard Sunday School answer of why he sank is also untrue.
Peter's faith wasn't so much the issue as his understanding was. And Jesus was showing him that very thing.

Once you understand the love of scriptures that God has granted teachers...there's no reason for not listening to them.

Some of us have just been gifted with this stuff...it isn't for everyone. That's perfectly fine too. Some are more doers than thinkers.

There's a variety of people to fulfill all the needs of the kingdom of God.

In times past...
Printed materials didn't exist...paper and ink were exorbitantly expensive. Books and writing were luxury items.
And no one who was wealthy enough to purchase such things ever became that way by wasting money. People expected value for their money.

So, when books were written, they left out the "of course" types of information that fills today's literature. The very subjects that people 3500 years ago would know off the top of their heads but are unrecognizable in today's society.

For example if I said that I had a frog in my throat today... you would not picture that I had an amphibian that was choking me.

Same thing goes with expressions from 2,000 to 5,000 years ago.
I find that these things are explained in the Bible Itself. And I also find extrabiblical sources don't have the same accuracy as the Bible.

Much love!

So would you agree your understanding of those concepts are greatly understood in scripture because you know them from first hand experience ?
I'm sorry, I don't know what you are getting at here. Are you asking if I think I have superior understanding of the Bible because I've gardened? If that's the question, no, I don't.

Much love!

I think any perceived contradictions should be studied until we see how there is only harmony.

They aren't going to be in a lot of cases.
Too many instances of there not being an explanation.

That's why commentaries exist...but so do a lot of other rescources. And I tend to shy away from commentaries.

I have always wanted to know why what was written and was written in the manner it was written.
Why did someone spend a year's wages to write this stuff down?

I'm glad they did...but they spent a fortune doing it.

So a knowledge of DNA and how it works doesn't help you understand Gods handiwork in creation. Now I understand your thinking process, thanks !

I'm not talking about farming. Of course if you want to farm, you should study farming.

It's a summary of Jesus' visit to His chosen people. His visit in that sense was in fact over when John wrote.

Much love!
Is it a contradiction?
It's obviously not true today.
Why did John say that?
I believe in Jesus...I am a child of God.
And that goes directly against John 1:12

But I do find explanations. I ask God, and I find answers.

Much love!
More emanations from the penumbra?
OR
You can just ask one of the teachers God has created who know the answers.
