@Gideons300 Thanks for your thoughts.

I like your paraphrase: "Touch not, taste not, handle not, ink not ."

Fact is, one preacher's daughter might hesitate to get tattooed; another might have it done enthusiastically; and both for personal witness reasons as they might understand it.

(Seems like a lot more now are doing it enthusiastically than hesitating to do it, these days...right?)

PS: Thanks for your poll vote.
I do want to add something a bit hesitantly. I have been around a few with a LOT of tattoos, and have noticed they almost have an addiction to getting inked. It is not just the tattoo. It is the getting the tattoo that draws them as well. Does this ring a bell with any here?

When I said it was really what the Holy Spirit inside one that determines whether or not it is sin, care must be taken to make sure one actually seeks the Lord on the matter. With addictive actions, oftentimes the heart is hardened in that area because we want a certain answer and thus, there is no conviction felt, not because the Holy Spirit is not doing His job, but because it is being drowned out by love for the action, and that is sin. Inordinate affection.

On top of that, tattoos can be expensive and the question of stewardship may arise. Just a couple of things we may need to be aware of.

blessings,

Gids

@Rita Thanks for your comment; and I know that some past posters on the subject won't want to comment further; the catalyst for the new poll was the fact that the poll on the previous thread expired a few hours ago.

Again, as regards the new poll, no need even to vote at all, although there is a range of response options, including a very non-committal one.

(PS: Some ppl might even be wishing for a bit of relief from politics...)

Crying out loud Farouk ...give it a BREAK!

Being a new member. I amazed at how some of you talk in these groups to others. I was surely not expecting this awful behavior from a faith based Forum.

Why? What was the need for this?

When you have been around for a while on this forum, it irks many to be hounded by a touter to vote in the polls he has set up on the forum, particularly when they are asking nearly the same question to vote on as all of his previous polls around the same subject matter.

The sample size of the polling suggests that many members are not that interested in being involved in the polls he has created on tattooing and ear piercing for jewellery etc. . Members avoid his polls like the plague.

He has become an irritant to many members and that does not help to bless the other members of this forum.

What would be better is we had the power to block a particular thread if we are not in the least interested in the subject matter or purpose so that we did not see the thread at all.

So this was overcoming evil with good? Just place him on Ignore.

I have discovered there are two types of Christians... Those who bring hope and breath LIFE into our broken world... and then those who bring condemnation and breath DEATH into our broken world. I have been in the presence of both types... Those who bring forth condemnation/death through their judgement.... make others feel as though they are guilty and worthless... thus driving them AWAY from God rather than TO God.
Busybody Christian... ( that is the nickname I had for my self-righteous auntie ). However... the good news is... that I actually made amends with my family. I am now the redeemed black sheep of the herd... LOL

Anyways... You can't just be a bit of a legalist... It's like being sort of pregnant... LOL.

Exactly. And one day, I pray you see me for who I really am, not pregnant and not a legalist.

blessings to you dear Addy,

While I agree that the many sometimes very repetitive polls have gotten old also for me I generally avoid most of them. They may not be as tiring as the very many threads these days on election fraud and Covid 19. If only there was as much interest in the prayer threads and the real discussions about God and the things of God.
Help us dear Lord!

@Helen While @farouk is certainly up toward the top, the all time heaviest poster, @bbyrd009 , [way above even @Angelina ] who always was concerned and focused in places I like to see people focused is seemingly gone forever. This is unfortunate for in spite of his faults, he recognized his faults. But too many people failed to understand him. A permanent disconnection to me is the forum's loss.
