Hello forum, I don't know about anyone else but as for me when I try to get involved in a discussion on a thread topic and the posts are so lengthy I simply cannot stay focused and on track with what the poster is saying.

I have tried but it just overwhelms me and so I just scroll on down to the next post.

Anyone else have this problem?

Posters, have mercy!!! Keep it short and to the point. We do have a blog section if you would like to write a mini novel...:)
Thank you! God Bless❤

I agree with you @Heart2Soul . Posts like that end up being more like speeches than conversation.

I think . . . and just a thought . . . it seems wise to always read more from the Bible itself than we do from a forum (or any other site). I read the Bible twice per year, so I, unfortunately, don't have time to read those lengthy posts. What makes it so difficult is seeing passage after passage being taken out of context. There is so much to unravel and unpack, those long posts are naturally overwhelming. What's more . . . how many people ever change the course of their belief system? Veddy, veddy few. I guess it's easy to give up . . . and perhaps that is wrong of me. :(

I'll never forget getting into a debate with a SDA on a different Christian forum who would continuously make long winded posts (which were obviously copied and pasted) and were full of scripture twisting, trickery, deceit, rhetoric and propaganda. He made it impossible to have a discussion with him. It was like arguing with a Philadelphia lawyer! Someone else stepped up and told him that there is a point of copying and pasting and then there is copying and pasting crazy large walls of texts for multiple pages to the point of ridiculousness! This person also pointed out to the SDA that a lot of copying and pasting there will not be read by your average reader and he also continued to expose him as using this tactic to make it look like he really knows what he is talking about, but in reality his long winded arguments end up contradicting scripture and he makes it impossible for anyone to reply to him and that's the way he like's it.

Oh gosh no, not only you. I too pass right by them. And like yourself I too have tried to plow through them WHILE understanding what is being said. I get lost and it takes way too much time from the other posts, I'd say.

I am glad I am not the only one. Ive had a revival of sorts lately, and I actually try to understand things now. I skim and scroll quite a bit with no disrespect. I already am not giving my kids full attention. Im writing out my own devoes and stuff though, and those look long too, so it is cool. I get it. I read my Bible and forums/facebook. Not much of a theologian. LOL

And I thought it was just me :)

Me too lol it's like somebody asks you a simple question of what is your favorite animal and they give you a whole life story that goes something like this,.. *ahem*

Well when I was a little kid I got sprayed by a skunk. Then it pretty much traumatized for me life. So much so that I decided to run it over but then I got a guilty conscience and I kept thinking that I was seeing and smelling that stinky little guy everywhere and turns out I was!! I was getting haunted by the spirit of Peppy everywhere I went!! I was under his curse and so I thought that even adorable little kittens looked and smelled like skunks and I always ran out of the pet store like a maniac. So that's why to this day I don't really like animals much.

Yeah I love animals and I completely made that up but all they could of said was they didn't like animals in that case. LOL I'm in one of those kinds of moods again so I apologize,.. I promise I'm not drunk. XD I think that this is just the aftermath of the chocolate doughnut that I ate last night. :p

Sounds like THBE, LoL. (who is still here under another alias, but I don't expose him). But yeah, he's the worst. It's like he's throwing around long posts to "overwhelm" you with his knowledge. We spoke to him about it here but it fell on deaf ears. It's a tactic he uses to try and intimidate people. Doesn't work with me, so he leaves me alone, but he is in the habit, and I don't think it will change.

But I feel your pain brother, Lol. Actually, to his credit, at least he doesn't hold it against you if you don't quote every single statement made in one of his posts and respond to it. There are a few here who insinuate that you have taken them out of context unless you do that, and that's when you really wanna ring somebody's neck, LoL. You end up with no choice but to say, "Look dude. I'd like to discuss this with you, but I have a life, and going back-and-forth with you on this for the rest of eternity is definitely not it." LoL.

Forum life. Isn't it wonderful? :)

You made that sound convincing. Maybe I will haunt you with pictures like this from now on:

.....

And then immediately follow them up with an extremely long post about skunks.

LoL. I actually know a girl who has gone about this far overboard with the tattoos. She's also into body-building now.

She looks fit, but still. You're thinking, "Dear me, woman. God made you so beautiful, and look at the train wreck you are turning it into!"

But I don't say anything. Her life, her body. What a shame.

I skip over lengthy posts and utterly ignore them. If someone cannot intelligently make a few sentence point, then why take their advice? I kinda liken it to scripture in Matthew 6:7

"But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions as the heathen do, for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking."

But who knows why people think they need a page to answer a post. But mostly I'm thinking a mental problem is there somehow.

Hope that's not too harsh, but it's my honest opinion :(
