You have stated on this forum that you have sinned and you confess, and that is since i showed up you told us this...
So, are you posting this verse to prove you are of the devil?
Do you ever actually think about what you write before you post it?
You should start.
Today would be good.
I will only say to this that as a faithful minister, I am going to preach the Bible even if the verses in question hurt me. If I continue to be a sinner in the present hour, then yes, the scripture in question says that I am of the devil.
I take solace in what Paul wrote to Timothy in 1 Timothy 4:16.
While you do not know what may have transpired in my life, over the past few hours, even.
If I champion the doctrine that we can confess our sins, and that if we do so He will be faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9), does that mean that I myself have to confess sins more often than not? For the purpose of confession of sins to God is that He might cleanse us from all unrighteousness. So, when we confess, there is going to be a cleansing that takes place, so that the same sins are not going to be committed that have been confessed, if the confession be genuine.
You cannot turn to God without first turning away from sin.
In a nutshell, this is where you go off the rails.....”Turn to “ME”, and I will turn to you”......Repentance is Turning “TO” God, NOT Turning “ FROM” Sin....
False teaching.
Many think that they cannot come to Christ unless they first repent, and that repentance prepares for the forgiveness of their sins. It is true that repentance does precede the forgiveness of sins; for it is only the broken and contrite heart that will feel the need of a Saviour. But must the sinner wait till he has repented before he can come to Jesus? Is repentance to be made an obstacle between the sinner and the Saviour?
The Bible does not teach that the sinner must repent before he can heed the invitation of Christ, “Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28. It is the virtue that goes forth from Christ, that leads to genuine repentance.
Peter made the matter clear in his statement to the Israelites when he said,
“Him hath God exalted with His right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.” Acts 5:31.
We can no more repent without the Spirit of Christ to awaken the conscience than we can be pardoned without Christ.
Christ is the source of every right impulse. He is the only one that can implant in the heart enmity against sin. Every desire for truth and purity, every conviction of our own sinfulness, is an evidence that His Spirit is moving upon our hearts.
...for without Me ye can do nothing. (John 15:5)
One of the primary reasons that a man turns to Christ, if he really does so because of recognizing that he is a sinner in need of mercy, is that he turns to Christ so that Christ might take away his sins and help him to do better in the future. So, I will agree with you that we can only have the victory through Christ; but I will disagree with you and say that coming to Christ means turning away from sin. The very reason any man genuinely turns to Christ is because he recognizes his need as a sinner for the power to gain freedom (John 8:31-36) and victory (1 Corinthians 15:57) over sin.
So, repentance is an integral part of the process.
Resting in the Gospel, abandoning the Burden Of trying to “MAKE” yourself Worthy Of Salvation as opposed to seeing that you have been “ MADE” Worthy by the Blood Of the Lamb ...
I will only say to this that if you have been made worthy, there is a practical outworking to that.
Rather, I think it better to be concerned about what God thinks of offending someone.
See Galatians 5:11 (kjv) for my take on that.
Gal 5:11, And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.
We play a part in Salvation; we must be yielded vessels to stay in His grace.
The only part that “YOU” play in your Salvation is this—- The willingness to accept a “ Free Gift”....Jesus did EVERYTHING that is necessary for Salvation.... that's why it can be Free for us Sinners...
The "free gift" is righteousness (Romans 5:17); which is a practical thing (1 John 3:7, Romans 5:19, Matthew 5:6).
I'm not playing games! If you want to try and keep the Law, go ahead, you will be judged by that Law.
However I will not be judged by the Law, I will be judged by my 100% faith in Christ.
You are going to be judged by your works (2 Corinthians 5:10).
If you have been genuinely redeemed, then you have been made into a new creature in Christ; and your works will be different than if you were not redeemed. Also, what you have done evil is forgiven.
See John 5:28-29.
If you have not done any good, how will you be raised in the resurrection of life? Even the thief on the cross did good when he acknowledged Christ from where he was on that cross.
