I have not ignored your interpretations of Scripture. Do you not recall us having disagreements in the past about your interpretations of Scripture? Why do you ignore the Church's interpretations? I know, I know, you flat out reject the interpretations of The Church! Oddly enough it is ok for you to reject the interpretations of The Church but if I flat out reject your interpretations and accept what my church says I am like a robot. Can you not see how dishonest your train of thought is on that? Can you show me in Scripture where it says Scripture is left up to each mans interpretations? I think the men of the church were just men. As prone to error as any man. Which makes my interpretation, which is shared by many learned men in churches also, as likely as theirs. And I've read enough of the really old discussions on theology from like the 1400s to know that the men in the church did not agree on everything back then any more than we do.

Why would you read the theology of christian men who lived 1,400 years after Christ died when you can read the theology of men that walked and talked with the Apostles? I would suggest you start out with the theology of Clement of Rome, Polycarp and Ignatius of Antioch and get back with me on what you think of their theology.

With that said I already know that once you read their theology you will disagree with them and convince yourself that 'your interpretation is as likely as theirs'.

Hey Truther,

I took a look at all of Scripture in regard to confession of sins and I ended up with just as many questions as answers. Maybe you can help me out.

Were the Apostles a sinful proxy even though they could bind and loosen sin? How can a sinful proxy bind and loosen sin? What are we to make of John 20:23?

What about confessing our sins to one another? Can we do that since we are all sinful proxies? James 5:16 says we can.

Good questions.

First, it says confessing your faults, not sins. If I accidentally do something to upset a brother I must tell him it is my fault and apologize, not tell him all my thoughts.

As far as the first question, here is how Peter and the rest remitted sins....


38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.


Instead of a confessional, they simply spoke the name of Jesus Christ during water baptism for sin's remissions.

You really need to take a hard look at that, VS what you now believe.

Help me out here Truther. What was posted by @theefaith is the teaching of The Church which has been around for a long time. So I think it’s pretty solid. Also, it’s not commentary. The teaching is based on Scripture and it is taught to over 1 billion people and has been taught to many more.

Isn’t what you or other Protestants on this forum say/write truly commentary since it is your own personal interpretation of Scripture that only you follow?

The RCC protested the original and deviated to enticing words of man's wisdom.

I think there is a difference between dictating doctrine and creeds to everyone than just chatting about the Bible.
