Remember it was the Feast of Pentecost, a holy time for Jews. Gentiles would have been as popular as pork chops in Jerusalem. "Devout Jews" were those totally steeped in Judaism, and therefore the crowd were composed of Jewish pilgrims who had journeyed to Jerusalem for the Feast.

When Paul preached that "The Jesus you have crucified has become Lord and Christ" he was talking to the Jews. This suggests to me that there were no Gentiles in the crowd. I think the ones who mocked were resident Jews who didn't have the tongues miraculously translated for them and therefore what they heard was unintelligible speech along with the rejoicing.

That is certainly possible, but this was just in the streets. Roman police, or whatever you want to call them were probably not off duty. But doesn't say one way or the other.

You seriously need to think through your disillusions. You try to get people to think that someone is lukewarm for opposing barking like a dog so you have an excuse to do weird stuff that isn't biblical.

Did you read my first post on why they did it? And you still choose to judge them for having more zeal for God than you do, so something must be wrong with them???

If your concerned or think that i dont believe in the gifts of the Spirit , I DO . I am speaking of the side show
that was put on with grown folks barking like dogs and etc .
There is something else that all must be on gaurd with . Folks who seek miracles and signs , yet have no love for reading the scripture .
These are easily deceived . We got grown folks running to mama and hollering fire from heaven . Running into unity
with a mother who has sold JESUS out and the gospel down the river for an all inclusive side show of a dead gospel that will save none .
We must learn the biblical JESUS well as well as all sound doctrine . Having all hope on the glorious LORD .

I think that you are mistaken if you think the leaders of that church were supporting the manifestation as part of normal worship rather than the manifestation of demons under the power of the Holy Spirit.

From what I read from the Book of Acts, the signs and wonders were to support the preaching of the Gospel to pagan unbelievers. There is no New Testament evidence that the same signs and wonders were an integral part of Christian worship services. But there is evidence that when the Holy Spirit moves powerful through the exercise of the gift of prophecy in the meetings, the secrets of the hearts of sinners are made manifest and they fall on their faces worshiping and declaring that God is truly among them. Note that I did not say falling on their backs, jerking or shaking. So it stands to reason that any other manifestation has to be demonic manifestation, which was effectively dealt with in the meetings.

Of course, critics of the movement concentrate on the manifestations as if they were approved as part of the normal worship, and skillfully leave out that those having demonic manifestations were quickly ushered out of the main meeting to either a side room or separate tent where they could be ministered to. Of course, these critics don't want to see any of that, because it doesn't support their one-eyed view of the meetings. They see what they want to see, just as when they read their Bible they view what they want it to say, instead of what it actually says. Also, they don't have the discernment of spirits to be able to recognize demonic activity when they see it, especially when it happens in the form of jealousy, envy, gossiping, anger, impatience, hidden lust, and power struggles in their own churches.

These fellows don't want to read my post where I said that when the Holy Spirit is present in power, demons can't stand it and start manifesting. That's where you get the jerking, shaking, uncontrollable laughter, and animal noises from. There is ample testimony from those experienced in the deliverance ministry reporting that when demons manifested the person started barking like a dog.

By the way, did you notice when you were with ChristianForums.com that in recent years, the healing, prophecy, and deliverance forums disappeared, and a new rule made prohibiting prophecy, and at the same time, more prominence was given to supporting Evolution, the RCC, and pro-Muslim posts, and more reporting, warning and banning those who attempted to tell the truth about them? The thought just came to me as I was responding to your post.

Which pagan practices do you think she is sticking up for? I have had a long association with her on this form and previously on another forum, and I never viewed any of that in her many posts.

Strange that over 53 years of being either a member of Pentecostal churches or associating with close friends who are, I have never seen any people barking like dogs or anything like it. What I have seen, however, that if anyone started manifesting weird stuff, they were taken out of the meeting, and the leader advising the people that what they were witnessing was a demonic manifestation. Maybe New Zealand Pentecostals are different from American ones.

I didn't notice that those forums went away, but I've been away from them for a while. But I did recognize the biases from the admin.

What I observed before I was permanently banned was that the admins became more supportive of Evolution and the RCC (where my comments attracted the most flak from the staff), and were appeasing Muslims as part of the "community of faith" and I guess that anyone commenting that Islam is a false religion worshiping another god would be reported and banned. So, being banned from that forum was no real loss for me.

Why don't you read the thread instead of asking me.
I was referring to barking like a dog and writhing on the floor both of which can be caused by a ITs called KUNDALNI spirit which is pagan like Amigo pointed out.

I would much rather know the truth. And I love being Spirit-filled. I feel sorry for the lukewarm.
