In the USA, you have in many STATES, a "terminal patient service" called HOSPICE.
They will come to your situation, if you are dying, and near death, those last weeks or days, and they will give you drugs.
The closer you are to death...say,.......48hrs is the prediction, they will administer drugs to keep you asleep so that you die peacefully in your sleep.

When my brother-in-law was dying of cancer the drugs made him seem pleasantly drunk which might have been a good thing.
After my niece visited him in hospital she said "he was making funny movements with his arms, and when we asked him why, he said 'I'm casting for trout'".
He was a keen fisherman, so in his dying days the drugs made him think he was back on the riverbank, so in a way he died happy..
