From: Our Daily Bread Booklet for June – July – August 2007June 7, ThursdayBy: Bill CrowderActions Speak LouderIrritated with a young athlete who had accomplished little yet boasted about his ability, a TV commentator said, “Don’t tell what you’re going to do – tell me what you’ve done!” Actions speak louder than words. This principle is seen in Jesus’ life. In Matthew 9, a paralytic was brought to Him. Jesus’ response? “Your sins are forgiven.” When the religious leaders objected, He raised the question of the hour. “Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise and walk’?” (v. 5).The answer is obvious. To say He had forgiven the man’s sins was simple, because it couldn’t be proven or disproven. But, to say “Arise and walk” was different. It was instantly verifiable. So, to prove His authority to forgive sins, Jesus said to the paralytic, “Arise, take up you bed, and go to your house” (v. 6). And he did!Jesus’ actions supported His words, and so should ours. John wrote, “My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth” (1 John 3:18). What we say is significant to a watching world only if it’s consistent with what we do. As we tell people about Christ’s love, those words will communicate powerfully if surrounded by acts of love and kindness. Actions do speak louder!

I agree with that, you can bible bash people, but if you don't show any actions and love, it does drive people away.Sometimes it's hard when people just want to argue, though.

Amen to infinity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for posting this. I believe we need to post 1 Corinthians 13 on our mirrors so we can see it every morning. Everything else will vanish away except for love. Galatians 6:8 says,"knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is slave or free." 1 Peter 5:5 says,"Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble."

See without love, who will come to God,without love there is no intimate connection with God,we can speak in tounges,we can praise God,but without love a big part is missing,The love of God is the most powerful thing I know of,Some people you could say if you believe in God you will have eternal life,WILL THEY LISTEN yes sometimes they will and grow to love God,but when you say there is a somebody who will listen and help you out and love you no matter what It grabs their attention! Everyone wants to be loved,it is part of human nature,

Thanks, Dukester. I'm trying to work on this area of my life. I want to love people with a sincerity-not lip service; not selfish motives-just to care for no other reason except that Christ asked me to. It's tough sometimes, but this is such a great witness.
