Are you ready for his return, because now is the time mentioned by all the Prophets and Apostles and of course Jesus himself. Every specific prophecy is being checked off on the Revelation list and reducing itself to that final event.

You know when Jesus returns as you've all been believing so long, you'll have to hand over everything to him.

You’ve said in the past that his return isn’t your hope. What is your expectation for your life when he does?

I'm pointing out that if Jesus really did return it would heralded the end of everything you and all the Christian's here do. You Christian's today do not want Jesus to return, because it would be the end of your personal opinions and beliefs. So I welcome the other worldly solution to our current disorder. Yes I do.

You’re overlooking that I’m registered “Other Faith”.

You Christian's today do not want Jesus to return …

I pray daily for the Messiah to return. There is nothing I want more than that.

… because it would be the end of your personal opinions and beliefs.

It wouldn’t be the end of my beliefs. It would be a change in my function.

So I welcome the other worldly solution to our current disorder. Yes I do.

The worldly solution is the devil’s solution. He doesn’t deliver order. He doesn’t deliver peace.

Reality check. It’s not me who doesn’t want the Messiah to return. It’s you who doesn’t.

The question remains unanswered @2bme.

You know he’s returning and you don’t want him to. What is your expectation for your life when he returns?

Of course I'd want something like Jesus to return, and now. I have no problem with getting in-line with a creator if or when it turns up. I'm not afraid of being corrected and set straight from something that actually knows what's it's doing.

But I'm dreaming because all that can happen is our world of beliefs will just fizz out. Yep, what's happening around the world today is the collapse of the empire's of beliefs.

“Something like Jesus” isn’t Jesus. With this post you‘ve ceased speaking about Jesus of Nazareth, the king who will one day return to sit on his father David’s throne in Jerusalem.

“But these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slay them in my presence.”

(Luke 19:27, NASB)

Expectation management for those who don’t want the king of the Jews to return and reign over them, and for those who do.

Usually I focus on the ten minas. And God expecting us to use our blessings. But the parable also addresses the rebellious.

Sadly Matthias, your understanding of the Parable of the Talents and Minas has been corrupted because of the lack of reading comprehension of the very parables themselves.

A pastor explained that Jesus was the wicked servant in both of these parables who was telling the master, i.e. Satan, that he was not entitled to the harvest.

Here is the Luke 19 account: -

20 Then another came, saying, ‘Lord, here is your mina, which I kept laid away in a handkerchief; 21 for I was afraid of you, because you are a severe man. You take what you did not deposit and reap what you did not sow.22 He said to him, ‘I will condemn you with your own words, you wicked servant! You knew that I was a severe man, taking what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow? 23 Why then did you not put my money in the bank, and at my coming I might have collected it with interest?’ 24 And he said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina from him, and give it to the one who has the ten minas.’ 25 And they said to him, ‘Lord, he has ten minas!’ 26 ‘I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. 27 But as for these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slaughter them before me.’”

Here is the Matthew 25 account: -

24 He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed, 25 so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here, you have what is yours.’ 26 But his master answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed? 27 Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents. 29 For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. 30 And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

In both the Talents and Minas parables the identified wicked servant had complied with the Jewish Laws and refused to oppress his neighbours by lending them money at an interest rate that would have impede their relationship with their God Jehovah. He had kept the one Minas/one Talent safe and returned it to the "master" as he had received it.

Both Parables are about what Satan will put in place while he is imprisoned in the Bottomless Pit for 1,000 years. Revelation 12 confirms that when Satan is able to return to the face of the earth, in the Minas Parable, that he will initially return to seek his revenge against Israel, but God will stop him from doing so and will protect the Israelites from Satan's wrath. When Satan cannot harm the Israelites, he immediately goes after the other Saints, i.e. the Christians, to either remove them from the face of the earth or cause them to worship initially the Beast.

We forget that what Jesus said in John 6 in this exchange: -

25 When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?” 26 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you are seeking me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. 27 Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.” 28 Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?29 Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”

Now Jesus did instruct the disciples to go and make disciples from the nations and to teach them the commandment that He had taught them until He will come a second time.

In the two parables of the Talents and Minas, Satan wanted his servants to trade with the money he had given them to do so. Satan was only interested in binding people to himself whereas Jesus is only interested in people receiving life, the everlasting life, that comes from believing in Him.

Shalom

He was suggesting that if we find ourselves in this situation, that we should oppose Satan and confirm to him that he has no right to the harvest of souls, just as Jesus would do.

His first name was Reece, and he was speaking at a men's camp at the turn of the century.

For my part I disagreed with his reasoning because jesus would not have been a servant of Satan.

I am testing my memory now. He is a Baptist Pastor in Australia. Rhys Mcfadden. His understanding of the Parable of the Talents and Minas has probably changed a lot since the early 2000's.

As I said above, even back then I did not hold to his understanding.

What this thread has demonstrated is that our understanding of the scriptures is very dependent upon what it is that we want to see and know and the parables etc become lost in the complexity of our own minds.

Yes, but I have heard many pastors and preachers wrongfully teaching that the Master in both the parable of the Talents and the Minia is Christ who goes away for a time which is contrary to a number of verses.

Here is a sample: -

Genesis 28:15: - 15 Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go and will bring you back to my fertile soil; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you."
Deuteronomy 31:6: - 6 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you."
Deuteronomy 31:8: - 8 And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed."
Joshua 1:5: - 5 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.
1 Chronicles 28:20: - 20 And David said to his son Solomon, "Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God — my God — will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord. NKJV
Jeremiah 46:28: -
28 Do not fear, O Jacob My servant," says the Lord,
"For I am with you;
For I will make a complete end of all the nations
To which I have driven you,
But I will not make a complete end of you.
I will rightly correct you,
For I will not leave you wholly unpunished."
John 14:18: - 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.
Hebrews 13:5: - 5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."

Why then do preachers teach that the "master" in these two parables will go away and leave us for a time.
In the Parable of the Talents it states: -

" For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property, i.e. Money"

And in the Parable of the Minia it states: -

"A nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and then return."

Yet many times in the Scriptures it clearly states that God has said that He would never Leave us or forsake us which is contrary to verses listed above.

Notice that the master leaves his wealth in the form of money with which to trade while he is way whereas Jesus taught that "Money was the root of all evil."

Both parables are about the servants being given money to oppress the people around them by lending them money at interest which was contrary to the OT teaching of not charging their bothers interest.

If we Christians just happen to be Satan's servants when He return, then we should be standing up against Satan and telling him that he has no right to the harvest of souls and return his money to him as we will have received it.

Both parables are not about making disciples but rather they are about the oppression of our neighbours through the lending them of money at high interest rates.

This is why I is why I am suggesting to you to go back and read these two parables again through the lens of the OT and then see if you come to same conclusion as you expressed above.

Shalom

I’m always willing to to reconsider/ reevaluate everything I believe. The passages you quoted haven’t done anything to change my mind about the parable. I remain persuaded that the Messianic king will have his enemies slain in his presence following his return. The Messiah’s followers will do the slaying.

Sadly Matthias, your understanding of the Parable of the Talents and Minas has been corrupted because of the lack of reading comprehension of the very parables themselves.

My hope is that you will accept my comment in the same spirit which I believe you intended the words to me: Sadly, Jay Ross, your understanding of the parable of the talents and minas has been corrupted because of the lack of reading comprehension of the very parables themselves.

I continue to read widely, deeply, thoughtfully and critically on the matter and encourage you and others to do the same.
